Whenever I first listen to one of Dodie’s songs, especially when I read the lyrics along with it... I am always astounded that feelings and concepts I feel on a regular basis and would be too frightened to even try and explain to another human are felt by other people.. I know this because Dodie feels it, writes a song about it and then the comment section floods with people that understand it too and then I realise.. I’m not weird!! HOW does she so perfectly describe these feelings that have no existing adjective in the English language and yet here she goes and writes hundreds of words on that feeling and writes music to match that feeling perfectly too. Urgh. This happens to me with nearly every song she has written! Most.Underrated.Songwriter.Of.This.Decade... Dodie just GETS ‘IT’, whatever ‘it’ is.

Somehow this one passed me by, it's a really interesting song. For me it toes the line between intimate and creepy, which I think can only be by design. I'm curious though if this relates to your feelings about the subject matter. There's something about this song that makes me long for a connected relationship between sexual and romantic feelings. Sure, I've felt both towards people but when it comes to ahem alone time it feels so animalistic in the moment and gross afterwards. I genuinely cannot imagine feeling romantic while having sex. I think I'd just feel focused on the caveman brain of things feeling good so then and it wouldn't feel affectionate or bonded to the other person through it. I don't want it to go down that way but my brain feels so distorted in attractions.

also the lyric of thinking of another person would think or view you differently resonates in my fear of being a sad creep getting off alone to weird/obscure things. would anyone be able to look at me the same after knowing how pathetic and strangely sexually charged I can be? Or maybe I'm just lonely and want a person (in any way) to fill that gap. I don't know.

Disconnected but beautifully raw I think is how I dream to one day feel about sex. I'll probably always have these physical desires (even in the heat of the moment) that can be dehumanizing, but hopefully I'll see it as beautiful in a way in its simple vulnerability. Maybe one day I'll see it as an expression of love rather than spastic arousal and urges.
