@Ekaterina yes her wings can't get her off the ground. My question is, why? Her wings are pretty big. At least, compared to Bulk Biceps. I never understood why, medically, she couldn't fly. From a storytelling standpoint, it makes sense. But with her wings being about the same size as Bulk Biceps' (if you put them side by side), and him being able to fly and her not doesn't make sense.
9:34 "Bulk Biceps! You impressing Fluttershy?" That's gonna be kinda hard to do. She's already friends with two different godlike creatures (Pinkie Pie and Discord).
-Two pegasi who can't fly well are entering a sports competition that requires flying of their own accord -The plot is incredibly contrived and forced -Absurdly redundant dialogue -The Wonderbolts are incredibly and unnecessarily villainized to the point where they abandoned one of their friends and encouraged Rainbow to abandon her own -Continuity is blatantly picked-and-choosed to the point where some things in a certain episode are remembered but others from the same episode are forgotten -Rainbow's conflict isn't fleshed out enough -Rarity, Applejack and Pinkie are either flanderized, pointless or both -It's a rehash of many previous episodes
Anthony Yeah at first, but that was before she was betrayed. After it was when she lost her generosity for a while. This can compare to Rainbow sticking with her team to help them as much as possible. It was only when she was approached by her idols with an opportunity to fly with them that made her lose her loyalty. The whole point of these episodes are to put their elements to the test and have them fail in order for them to succeed above it.
Anthony Each "Rainbow" episode (that's how I refer to them) involves one of the six failing at their element. Rarity turned her friends into sweatshop workers and failed to show her appreciation. Pinkie let her pride make her forget why she loved doing parties. Other examples are spoilers but you get the picture. But the point of them are to show them at a low point and follow them as they gain the strength to make it right. That's what Rainbow did and I don't see it as any different than Rarity's episode.
Derpy has been off the radar for most of S3 and up to this point in S4. So, it was a real surprise to see her make a comeback in this episode after being absent for a while.
Soarin is such a good character. He deserves to be featured in a few more episodes, he even cheered Rainbow Dash and her team on despite them trying to qualify a win for Ponyville. And to be honest his personalty and apprence is cute overall first time he was aired onto the show season 1 he really did love that pie which did get saved .
0:50 "Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Bulk Biceps for the aerial team?" That sounds more like the start of one those "walk into a bar" jokes than an actual team, doesn't it? :)
The episode goes to great lengths to show why Fluttershy and Bulk Biceps shouldn't be here! I mean, Fluttershy was a bad flier in Hurricane Fluttershy, but she was there because it was her duty. Equestria's version of the Olympics seems like something you have to volunteer to be in. And it's plainly established that the Equestria Games are a place where ponies compete for medals and glory. Unless Fluttershy has been getting freaky with Discord, there is absolutely no reason for her to be here!
Can't wait till you see season 4 finale. It will completely blow your mind and leave you speechless or making inaudible noises of joy. It will be one of your favourite episodes in the entire series. # Hype

I definitely thought that Spitfire and Fleetfoot were pretty unbecoming of leaders in this one. That's playing dirty almost to the point of corruption there.
The problem is, you made a choice about the wrong thing then, and if you don't decide about the right thing, other people will do that for you (usually for their benefit, at the cost of yours).
Maybe in another timeline I would've been more peeved at the Wonderbolts for what they pulled, but in any case they redeemed themselves in Rainbow's eyes at the end and it doesn't matter how "insincere" the apology might've seemed to you if the narrative treated it as genuine. So that is why Rainbow still wants in the Wonderbolts. They could use somepony who'd keep em on track. ;)
The worst part of this episode is that it's not skippable. Say what you want about Spike at Your Service, you don't have to watch it. This episode, on the other hand, is a major part of two of the three overarching plots of Season 4.
I honestly wasn't a fan of this episode. It really portrayed the wonderbolts in a bad light. That isn't bad in itself, but when you account for the fact that Rainbow still wants to be a wonderbolt, that presents a problem. She made it clear in Wonderbolt Academy that her ideals are more important than her ambitions. You can't even make the excuse that they forgot about that episode, because they mentioned it in the episode.
Still, it wasn't THAT bad. There were some genuinely entertaining moments. Bulk Biceps was really enjoyable all throughout. It was pretty nice that they gave him a stronger role instead of him just being a steroid joke. Plus, we cannot forget the triumphant return of Derpy Hooves. She'd been gone the past several episodes.

I remember a lot of people having problems with Spitfire when this came out, but in hindsight… I really don’t see the problem. She’s resorting to underhanded and sneaky tactics, sure, but for one, it’s not like they’re betraying her character (seeing as how we had seen very little of it up until now), and it’s not like the show portrays her behaviour as something good (quite the opposite, so the episode agrees with you).
Bulk Biceps is really the strongest flyer in the Show! He can lift his heavy body into the air with his tiny wings xD

How tiny bulks wings are because he was a Pegasus stallion same size his wings look small because he got workout
