A lot of people have said that Starlight yelling at Trixie was a little harsh, (which it might have been), but I think it was justified. She is the school's guidance councillor. Therefore, she cares for all the students and takes their safety very seriously. When something happens that puts them in danger, she rightfully get's pissed. Plus it was something Trixie needed to hear, which brought her around to having the good idea for Starlight to hire Sunburst.
Agreed. Plus, Starlight IS known for her tough love approach and snapping at other ponies from time to time, so it's very consistent with her character. She snapped at Luna and Celestia once, for crying out loud.
How cool it is that every character we know is finding their place in the world. Twilight as wind to the Canterlot throne, her friends being the protectors of Equestria, the Young 6 filling in their roles as the new spirits of the Elements, and now Starlight running the school with Sunburst and Trixie as staff members. The future looks bright for these guys.
Man, I still can’t believe Trixie’s character growth. I mean, she literally went from being a show off to a student counselor at the school of Friendship.
Somewhere I heard that caring for plants is a good hobby for those who like to control other people's lives. So there is nothing surprising in the existence of Phyllis
As unqualified as Trixie is (guidance councilor is definitely much more her forte), you've gotta admit that her "field trip" was actually a pretty unique and creative idea to allow students to experience dangerous places without actually going to them; if she hadn't accidentally brought in a spot with flash bees her efforts would have been well appreciated.
Her only mistake was not scouting out the area to be teleported more thoroughly.
Also, it's pretty cool how Trixie's abilities have gradually improved ever since she befriended Starlight, much like how Twilight's magic (as Celestia's pupil) gradually got stronger throughout the early seasons.
This episode shows how long starlght has grown seans season 6. back then she would be really irresponseble and would really on magic to do the job like in every little thing she dose. Or not tell trixie what shes doing wrong like in all bottled up.
It sure is a good thing that Starlight got Trixie to work a the school after all. For a second there, she was worried that she wouldn't have someone to make out with in the teacher's lounge. XD
I don't think the writers really understand what it means when a pony "winks." But then again, this is Starlight and Trixie, so maybe they do understand.
Trixie got the short end of the stick on the testing. Of all the supervisors, Grandpa Gruff is easily the most hostile. And when teaching, you have teaching elements, teaching elements, teaching elements, teaching elements... And history.
Like yeah, she's obviously inappropriate as vice-principal, but she still got an unfortunate deal.
Glad to hear you love this season, and yeah, this episode is really good, they even paied attention to small details. Although trixie isn't a counsler guidance material in my opinion.
This is a pretty good episode. It's great to see Starlight taking up responsibilities. Trixie and Starlight have a great dynamic. That ending is just great.
It's okay everyone! Kelly Sheridan, Starlight's voice actress, said on Twitter that Phyllis is okay. Speaking of Kelly Sheridan, I think I miss her and Starlight the most, especially if it's only the Mane Six and Spike coming back for Pony Life. Her lines, especially her rant to Trixie in this episode, were just great.
Starlight is the turning point for the franchise passing from kids show to young adult show, plus she is great to create new stories outside the Mane 6 (after every little thing she does her relationships outside Twilight drops to zero regarding Mane 6). She explores the second circle of friends like Maud, Discord and the two princesses and adding a boost as character growth to Twilight between Season 7 and 8. On a positive note, if Pony Life screws things she could be used to save the sunking boat or at least not be damaged by fallout of flame wars.
the only thing I'm not a fan of in this episode is the fact that it kinda shows off how frustrating (and I'm being nice with that word choice) Trixie can be
I am still vexed Starlight didn't consider me to have a post in this school..But after what i have done in A Matter of Principals, i probably should've expected that...
