Protip: You can hit ctrl+shift+esc while on the "set up your device" screen, to spawn task manager/process explorer, and using the alt-tab preview to peek as needed, bring the focus to task manager and keyboard navigate to the task and hit delete to kill the task.

These videos give me the impression that Windows 10 (and probably 11) is held together with sticky tape. The setup window is a UWP? Really?

Also, the Settings app is awful.

Hey Enderman, you can apparently do a similar thing after first installing windows when it asks you to create a user/sign in with microsoft account.

I pressed Win+R combination to bring up the run window and then just type cmd to open the command prompt (no style points for this tho). Due to lack of knowlegde of windows processes, i didn't know which process it was. Killing it through the task manager made it spawn again. Tho I am sure you can pull this off.

perhaps we can also use this in windows 11 to completely skip the whole process as one of the editions require you to have a microsoft acc before logging in

You can also start narrator to get audio feed back on what you're doing. Used to use it all the time when I was a kid to block the parental controls program from behind the time blocked screen. >:)

EDIT 2022-05-06: I just got back, but SOMEHOW Windows will erase the ScoobeSystemSettingEnabled value along with the UserProfileEngagement key automatically without warning, why is Win10 so unbelievably bad?
EDIT 2022-05-09: Actually, now I'm not sure, maybe I forgot to set the key and value altogether and I was just tripping, though I WOULDN'T be surprised considering Win10 being Win10 and all.


You are like the unsung hero of Windows, I'll be honest, I didn't like the "Let's finish setting up your device" screen, it's ridiculously unnecessary and it's also somewhat slow (Which doesn't help since Windows 10 consumes 100% CPU usage on power up for legit no reason) making it definitely one of many reasons why I quit using Win10 months ago.

uncheck the fourth checkbox

The last time I setup a new Windows install on my main PC was like, 5 years ago at this point? I am using Enterprise SKU so a few more options and Windows 10 was far less annoying in OOBE than today. Also whenever I upgrade my PC I just plug hard drive in. No install required.

I quit of this window way faster just by using Task Manager "without seeing it". open it normally by the shortcut combination then keep using alt tab to see were on the list it haves something selected, keep going with tab or down arrow untill get to the process who makes the OOBE screen and click Del on it.

I actually did this with my 2nd monitor on my laptop just now, and used shift+f10 to get my desktop on my 2nd monitor.
I did manage to get settings opened on that screen and got a command prompt.. EZ! 😆

Also, has anyone ever tried running the cmd through the "Run" command, using Win+R keys? That's also another way to bring up the command prompt because the Explorer is running in the background, but I put my bets on; Enderman will count that as a cheat, but it's quite easier than the first one.

It was the same for Windows 11 and I got it one day (different than windows 10). But instead of a option to show after 3 days,it was "Show again later".
Edit: Than a few days later I just set it up in one click (dont tell me why) and it never showed up again.

I used to use a password specifically for my computer, and I wanted to change something in the settings for fun and then it forced me to start using my microsoft password instead

I don't know if for updated versions still works, but what I do is press some random stuff until it lets me start task manager or execute, if task managers executes I just close it and do windows r, then cmd.exe, it's easier.

Theres an easier way: CTRL + SHIFT + ESC = Task Manager, click file > run new task > "explorer.exe"

I think for this to work, you have to have the Task magaer be permanently on top (Task manager > Options > ~Permanently on top(or something like that))

Yeah lol, if you have a MS account, you can get through that easily. It’ll never pop up again. If you are still annoyed however, install Windows Enterprise to get rid of that screen forever. It’ll get rid of the bloat too! An easier (and less fun) way of skipping that screen.
