WinXP Pro is great for getting TWAIN devices to continue. Got my XP activated again on my external eSATA HD on my Win10 laptop. I am so pleased with myself and I didn't break any rules doing so. Now I might try to do the same with my labtop and an old copy of XP Home for an old DELL but on my ASIS-i7. TWAIN can rule again! Better than on the Win7 Pro for Virtual-XP. I wrote this with the FireFox Browser for XP. The 20th century can continue for the time being. I am well pleased. Won't use this for web browsing though as trojans can destroy all this fun.
I didn't know IE 6 can function as a real file manager that looks like Explorer too. Reminds me of Konqueror, that can function as both a browser and a real file manager too.
It’s been capable of doing this way further back as well. For instance, if you browsed local directories on IE3 on Win95, it gave somewhat of a preview of what the Win98 interface would look like years later. But the added benefit of keeping the older version intact was so that you could still use the much snappier, more efficient, built-in Windows Explorer without "webbifying" the whole UI.
Did you seriously dig as deep in this applet to get to IE? Just press Ctrl+U and seek for help (unless you want the sethc bug)! Btw, I loved the style of the video, go for it!

For those people saying how amazing it is that Windows XP activation still works 20 years on, well let me tell you this;
1: The activation bot is for all old and modern Microsoft Products. Even Office 2002/XP and Office 2019 use the same activation bot.
2: Microsoft cannot LEGALLY end activation for Windows XP since the T&Cs clearly state that your license permits you ONE copy of Windows XP and does not define an inevitable future cut off. Microsoft would have to either provide an update to disable Windows XP activation (which they HAVE said they would do if they chose to end XP activation, although it's not a good idea since people might be able to reverse engineer that patch and use it against modern Windows software) or alter your license to work with a newer version of Windows with the same hardware requirements (Not gonna be Windows 10 or 11 any time soon).
3: Offer refunds to everyone who PAID for a Windows XP license.
It might be possible for Microsoft to cut Windows 7/8/8.1 activation in the future since those license keys are also Windows 10 valid and hardware requirements are the same, but I'm not sure. Either way, Microsoft don't have to keep Online Activation working forever since activating over the telephone is an option.
TL;DR, it will always be possible to activate Windows XP unless Microsoft provide an update that breaks XP's activation system :)
When you are on the activation window, you can open the default browser with windows+u, choose to open the keyboard, click help, then about, and click on the link to microsoft's website.

0 likesThere's a lot of quick clicking around 3:34 to 4:04 which not clearly explained (to me) what is going on. I can't get any of this to work though. I do not get the registration screen. I'm just stuck in a loop, or if I go into safe mode the entering of the rundll32 etc. command & restart doesn't work either.

0 likesWinXP Pro is great for getting TWAIN devices to continue.

0 likesI think I should embarrass Microsoft by faking a activation program in Windows NT 3.x in a Write program copying the installation ID from XP and then i call Microsoft on the phone to get back at them. Oh remember the days of Windows when there was no activation needed? Well those days are gone since 2001 ever since XP came out and you think 20 years later Microsoft would of learned their lesson by not adding activation anymore but no, They just wanna keep doing this just to make your day miserable! Oh why can’t we just go back to the simple days of Windows 2000 or Windows 9x when your basically installed Windows on your computer and you didn’t have to worry about some bullshit 30 days left until you can no longer use your computer. Honestly I think product activation is the most stupidest thing ever Microsoft ever invented 20 years ago since 2001 and they better get their shit together and cut Product Activation altogether. Or my 20 year dedication to Windows will be over!

0 likesFor those people saying how amazing it is that Windows XP activation still works 20 years on, well let me tell you this;
0 likes1: The activation bot is for all old and modern Microsoft Products.
