According to folklore, Changelings were said to be a form of faeries. With that in mind; if you look at the new forms, you'll see some faerie like anatomy on them.

So, to me; I think the new look makes sense. Heck, they look more like faeries than the Breezies did

I think the "new changelings" aren't technically changelings cause they look and act different.

I like both of the designs, but my favorite is actually the mid-reformation, when Thorax looked like an old changeling except his wings were sparkly. This shows that even if you don't know how to actively share love, you can be good, and also that black isn't the color of BAD.

I like both the old and new design and it was cool seeing so many folks collaborate in one vid, but I was slightly disappointed that this wasn't actually about a possible war between old and new changelings, since there were a few changelings that weren't present when most of them had sided with Thorax and transformed.

Personally, I like the new changeling designs, but also want to see some still unreformed/greedy changelings, AND a few changelings who already knew about the ability to change, but had zero contact with the hive to spread the word.

for the new look, it's a mix of emotions for me. For the positives, I like the new look. It brings something amazing for new ideas, something for the series to advance. then again, the old design still has a strong attatchedment to me. I can go for either, tbh. the old because it brought something special for OCs and many types of art, but the new shows something good for what people can take it, getting creative with Fan art to even fanfiction or animation. I am a person who doesn't judge of you want to stick with the old or move to a new, I am for both.

Honestly, I like the new design, and the old design. Sure, you can get creative with the reformed version, but with the old, it's much easier to draw. Less details to worry about.

i have a question for all the changling's out there, an idea for a story and the creation of a new nightmare...i mean the idea of her nightmare form has been toyed with a bit but few people give it a name that i've seen or at least the name i found most fitting....what would you all think of a story where chrysalis finds a way to not just imitate, but possess a pony outright...and her target of choice...cadence...the resulting fusion resulting in cadence slowly going nightmare with the mane 7 powerless to stop it, the end result being the nightmare 'bad romance' and worse still she somehow gets her mits on the crystal heart and all the vast reserves of love energy inside....how would that be fore a series ender right there?

Do new changelings actually have the ability to transform? We've never seen on. So maybe they don't?

Don't get me wrong, I like that changelings don't need to feed anymore when they are reformed. But I do like the original changeling design more than I like the new one.

Coming back to this seven months later (which it will be on the 16th) it just depends on the back story of your Oc.
For example:
one of my Oc's she is half changeling. She feeds off of the love that her friends have for her in a non romantic way. She is satisfied with this as so doesn't get mad that often. Which is why she is a polite person.

I think you will find that the new changeling design is completely worthless in combat, and the no longer need for love makes the traitors lazy and untrained.

I say new changelings. The color scheme was more to show the contract between hate and love, so it would make sense if they were brighter and, well, prettier. I like sticking to canon, as I find it both easy and hard to weave your OC into the shows lore. Such as my OC, who lives in a unknown area in Manehattan. Since the city is so out-of-the-way for many episodes and its size, it makes sense that unless my OC was the trouble, he wouldn't be on the show. Going against the canon, while not bad, I feel disconnects your character from the show. Whether that's a good thing or not is up to the person who makes the OC, but I prefer canon over headcanon. Also... who's Kevin.

I'm a bit confused on the new changelings look, so I can't decide which one I like better. The old changelings had both horns and wings, the horns for their magic and the wings for the hive. The new changelings seem to have all three pony nations now. Thorax and Pharynx are the largest ones, and they are both 'alicorn' versions. If they were born in batches, like we were led to believe, then how come only those two were granted that form? and what's with the moose horns? They are all pretty, and I like how the wings shine, but what's with the weird tail? What purpose does that serve? It makes me all confused. And did anyone else notice how much Thorax and Pharynx seem to have taken on the roles of Celestia and Luna, but in the changeling form?

I'm among those hoping Sketchy goes for the new look. Mainly because I, honestly like the new Changeling style.

Some of us may recall stories of changelings being children of fairies, in mythology. So, with that in mind; I look at the new designs as a sort of fairy ponies.

Before anypony says guys can't look awesome as fairies. I urge you to look at Lord Oberon and Puck from Gargoyles and THEN call me back ;)

I like some of the fanart an have made a new design of my halfling oc but I don't like many of the color combinations in the show. But the design it self is beautiful when colored right :)

I don't know how I missed this but has anyone noticed the similarities between King Sombra and Twivine Sparkle, they have the same features. This got me thinking if Twivine is Twighlights evil clone does that mean that the King Sombra we know is a evil clone of the true King sombra. But I may be wrong, this is just a theory but plz share your opinions. Do you agree or disagree?

Think the better thing to say overall is it's ultimately his choice and the old form is always there if need be. Try it out for a few weeks and if it doesn't work then switch back.

Excuse me, but has anyone else noticed that in "Hard to Say Anything" while the CMC are looking for Big Mac, Scootaloo lift as a pot of flowers. A second before that, we can see that Party Favor and Night Glider are dating. Also, in "Celestial Advice" while their giving out the Equestrian Pink Hearts of Courage, Night Glider and Party Favor are standing surprisingly close.

I don't agree with either of you guys. Changeling's are able to feed on more than just love and lust. They are able to feed on the entire emotional spectrum. And do you guys really think there is just one hive in all of Equis? That being said, I like the idea of the skittlebugs, but not the, as AnY described The Betrayer, moose-bugs themselves. The whole concept of a changeling just giving up their need to feed is like a human giving up the need to breathe. Will it eventually be possible? Yes. Will it occur as quickly as it did in that episode? NO! The moose-bug leader destroyed his hive and home. That's not to say Chrysalis was right, as the hive itself had many tactical flaws and oversights. For example, if Discord had gotten truly angry and knew about the mgic null-field, all that he would need to counter that is carpet bombing the place. Pegasi with saddles filled with alchemist fire would DECIMATE that hive. I dislike both extremes, which you guys both very CLEARLY showed in this video. I do have a changeling OC that is a halfbreed like AnY, but her limiting factor, is that she is only able to change her gender do to how diluted her pony blood is. She does require pony and changeling food, but she comes from a hive that kills halfbreeds, seeing them as a problem for hives everywhere. Enough about her, you guys really didn't show the ones that are impartial, or neutral to the "new changelings" as a whole.

I completely forgot that you and AnY have changelings OCs. Sometimes I forget I'm not the only one who has a changeling OC.

I think the opinion of the new Changelings belong to the each individual fan of MLP. I, for one, like the new design, and even before Thorax became king, he was my new favorite secondary character (Sorry Discord). It's not every day that a villain is reformed, and not even Discord got a new design. I think the new design makes the Changelings look beautiful, and I was kinda disappointed when Queen Chrysalis didn't reform and get a new design herself, I would have definitely loved to see that. But then, I believe that is just a plot cliffhanger for season seven. Plus, making Thorax the new leader definitely shows how much the Changelings have, excuse my pun, changed. Before, the Changelings were willing to destroy Thorax for his betrayal, but when he "evolved" they realized that perhaps it was better to follow in his hoofsteps. I am definitely looking forward to seeing more Changeling activity, and it would definitely make it interesting to see Thorax at a royal council meeting with the Princesses, now that even Celestia has accepted the new reformed Changelings.

I do think that the new changlinggs are scarier than the old oneals

So, Chrysalis vs EVERYTHING ELSE.... that's gonna be one very short war.  Unless the show decides to suddenly throw in a bunch of other 'hives' randomly and without explanation... (sighs)... which would not surprise me at this point because they tend to be really lax with the backstories and worldbuilding.

I wouldn't be surprised if Chrysalis returns with a new army of changelings and an actual changeling civil war between King Thorax's changelings and Queen Chrysalis's changelings ensues.

No hard feelings over something SO small but I just wouldn't feel right if I didn't say that I personally think the contrast from the vivid colors and gentleness ig of mlp, ya know with the black and blue menacing look, was really valuable and I think it's what really made the changelings special. The new design has some positives, everything does, but now our beloved bug pones are no longer a break from the headache that mlp can be sometimes. If anyone actually read that then hai :3

I would have bought the reformation if the story had EARNED IT AT THAT POINT!!  This was more undeserved than Twilight becoming an alicorn for fixing her own mistake and completing a spell that... didn't make a damn bit of sense in the first place.  And somehow affected the Elements... which no one ever established Star Swirl had ever come across... ugh.  It's just very quick and lazy storytelling.  We don't even have a background for the changeling race.  You don't reform a single villain, much less their entire race sans Bug Queen, without explaining at least in brief why the heck they're villains and where they came from in the first place!  That's putting the cart WAYYYY ahead of the pony!

I like the older designs better because that is closer to the lore if real changelings. I think the new designs go too far away from the concept of Changelings, if they had a mix of the old and the new (like a pretty bug with holes in it, that might be a good compromise )

can you do a theory on how the changeling pods work because the one celestia is in at the end of season 2 seems to act a little different from the ones at the end of season 6 of course if you think i am crazy please reply anyway if you dont ever see this comment I will not be affect what so ever.

Reason i say this is you can slightly notice the ones in season 6 may have liquid in it (i say this because it looks like bubbles have formed init while the season 2 one has no such disturbance) while the one in season 2 has no liquid and the effects seem to be different with the season 2 pod allowing the pony inside to be fully aware while the season 6 ones leave the pony looking like they are barely consises, although the difference in effects could be put with some logic who knows how long they had been hanging there and the blood could of just rushed to thier heads

Why i don't have the new design:
1. I use MS Paint so it is harder for me to draw that complex of a design (i probably couldn't even draw it on paper cause i'm not that good at drawing tbh)
2. I kinda like villains and the old form symbolizes the villain side of the changelings
3. Indeed my OC tried to take the form of the new changeling and yet she failed at it. She is a nice changeling with friends but she just couldn't take on the new form
4. tbh, the new designs are too colorful. The show was full of bright colors and adding the changelings when they weren't so colorful made it feel like the show wasn't all colorful.

I always loved the bug motif they had, but it was never really explored when Changelings were just mooks. But now that they're individuals, they're a lot of aesthetic possibilities to explore.
Its to the point where if I ever decide to get a MLP OC, it will be a Changeling.

Though I have come across a few who, like us, have made the change over to the new design. Some seem to dislike their newer design, but I like it; it's very unique in the world of MLP and adds come color and variety to characters who used to look almost exactly the same. Though whether people change their OCs is, as you concluded, ultimately up to them and what suits them the best ^-^
