Let us stop and consider that Gruff took an orphan and sent him to a prestigious school in the worlds leading nation, where he'll be fed, have a roof over his head, always be welcome, and have a high probability of becoming someone important to the rest of Gryphon society.
I think Gallus is a very underrated character. He may have rubbed some people the wrong way at first, but this episode showed that he had good in his heart, and all the negatives were just reflections of his culture of which he himself feels ashamed of.
6:25 "I'd say honesty is the most difficult element of harmony to uphold." It can also be difficult to uphold all of the virtues of the elements at once, as some can seemingly be at odds with each other in certain situations (like honesty and kindness).
How fitting that this reaction came up during December. This is yet another good Hearth’s Warming story in my opinion, one of my top three’s.
I like how the Young 6 were the main focus, it gives us some time to get to know their characters and how they live in their kingdoms. Yay, for world building and exposition!
Of course, my favorite highlight was Gallus. It was interesting to learn that he was an orphan in Griffonstone. That explains why he didn’t want to leave the school in the premiere, as he pleaded with Grandpa Gruff to stay. After seeing this development, Gallus has earned my respect and I liked him a lot more thanks to this episode.
I liked this episode mainly because it focused on the students a lot more than the other episodes. And also Gallus' backstory was really sad. Seeing his backstory made me understand his character a lot and he is my favourite out of the students.
Gallus is my favourite student as well, and it was this episode which settled that decision. Originally I didn't like him at all but he grew quickly on me :)
Development on all of the students and worldbuilding in one. This was also the episode that made people love Gallus. For me, Gallus needed a moment to shine for him to stand out before I could properly enjoy him like the other students, and this was it.
“Those born to wealth, and who have the means of gratifying every wish, know not what is the real happiness of life, just as those who have been tossed on the stormy waters of the ocean on a few frail planks can alone realize the blessings of fair weather.” ― Alexandre Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo
I love this episode! This is the episode that officially made Gallus my favorite of the Young/Student 6, bumping Ocellus down to 2nd place. I just wanna give that adorable blue lion-birb an enormous hug! He’s a precious bean that must be protected at all costs 💙💙
This is a great episode. The holiday traditions are great. The way they tie these into the story is great. Gallus really gets great character development.
Sandbar made the mistake of not leading with his strongest story. If he'd told us the one about almost spilling grape juice on the white couch, you might have a had tougher decision. :)
I'd say I once had been doing bad stuff because I wanted the consequences. One time, I was harrassed by several friends and wanted to transfer. My parents agreed, but after I lost patience after several unsuccessful meetings, I planned to get myself suspended. I beat up a guy who I disliked in front of a group of staff clearly and shamelessly. Afterwards, I was suspended, which would be extended to a permanent one after they made up their mind that what I did was beyond unacceptable. I ended up transferring, finally, but nobody was happy. My father was furious, my mother devastated, my teachers disappointed, and I also got several people who I loved (including my parents and a supporter of mine) in trouble. Yes, I did the fastest solution, but certainly, this was a great lesson that fastest was not always best.
Oh like cussing is such an issue these days which it's not unless its used as verbal abuse. Its stuff like doing illegal things at a young age and getting knocked up with a baby ages 13 -15 is. So to be honest he can cuss all he wants to. The show is kid friendly but his uploads are not mainly just for kids now is it as it can be for mature kids and mature audiences.

Gallus was already my 2nd-favorite of the students, but this episode bumped him up to #1.
