Oh wow, this hit really close to home for me. I entered into this fandom really late (first started watching the show when the 5th season was airing, officially joined the fandom during the final 9th season) and looking at all the things the brony fandom has gone through and done, makes me feel like I really missed out. I'm trying not to think what could have been and just focus on the here and now, but it's hard sometimes. Thank you so much, Minty Root. This was absolutely beautiful! ❤️ (Also another reason why Starlight is one of my favorite ponies 😜)

Same here. I began watching the series and joined the fandom mid-season 8 and I see no signs of leaving it. Although I secretly wish I joined a lot earlier… like Starlight wished she was with Twilight and Co. from the start.

One of the best mlp fan animation I´ve ever seen. The story, graphics, background music, sfx effects, animations. Just master piece. I love Golden Oak Library from firsts seasons and for me it was the most painful thing in mlp series what happened in S4. Great applause to voice actors as well. It have to be an honor to join this project. I have no words to tell how beautiful it is. Thank you for your hard work Minty Root. U are the best mlp content creator.

this was incredible and touching. i understand starlight's sorrow over missing out. i have a group of friends i only see twice a week who see each other basically daily. Oh man, I don't know where to begin. This really tugged hard on my heart strings for the show, and in a way I can kind of relate to the missing out theme of the whole animation, joining pretty late into the community when the fandom was dwindling and not at its peak, that really hit me. The visuals are absolutely astounding I was gushing with joy when I got to see ponyville and canterlot in such great detail! Everything felt so cinematic, mixed in with the lighting I was awe struck! I'm a sucker for 3d environments with 2d rigs being animated in it and the way you executed it was absolutely beautiful. I really can't describe how well this was made, massive kudos to the VA's! Yall did an amazing job, keep up the great work all of you!

I see so many comments everywhere on YouTube, even my own videos about how so many current members on the fandom wish they were a part of it during the "golden years" of 2011-2013/2014. It's fine to reminisce, I miss those days too, but I feel that sometimes we get so caught up thinking about the old days that we forget how bright the future is. This video itself existing in 2022 shows just how active and alive the fandom is even today, and it excites me to be a part of it going forward, especially as someone now making content for it.
This was incredible; the animation (especially the work on the lighting) and the voice cast (especially Twilight's VA) were just so darn good! Honestly I'd say this is a fitting ending to the G4 series itself. No retiring Princesses, no seeing our favorite pones get old. Just Starlight Glimmer learning an important lesson about friendship and looking to the future while we get to reminisce on the memories we made with these wonderful ponies. Thank you so much for this, it was phenomenal!
Something funny: I didn’t know this was going to be released at all. Or if any new animations were coming out. But after 2 years, I suddenly had the urge to revisit your channel today. And I’m so glad I did! What a new marvelous masterpiece! I hope for more in the future. ❤️

I... am speechless. This is by far one of the best MLP fan-made films I've seen in a long time! The story was good, the voice acting was perfect, the animation was fantastic, and the effort that you and everyone else on the team put into this was absolutely marvelous. In the scene where it showed remastered shots of classic episodes from seasons 1 to 4, I felt a large wave of nostalgia overcome me. Amazing work, Minty Root! I hope to see more content from you.
This was BEAUTIFUL, and it really felt like something that the show could’ve had a real episode on. The animation is absolutely breathtaking, I wish the g5 environments looked like this! I can tell you put in a lot of effort, and it was absolutely worth it!
I have been watching MLP since the middle of the first season of FiM, but I never really got super into a lot of the fan creations until recently. It was an absolute pleasure to see one of your animations on the day it came out. This was really moving, especially the flashes of scenes throughout the seasons and the ending between Starlight, Twilight and the tree.
Thank you so much for all your hard work, love, and care. I enjoy silly and light-hearted content too, but the works like this that are sincere without a hint of cynicism are always the most special to me. @Vincent Horn It wasn't necessarily one single thing. To really understand what I mean I'm afraid I'd have to explain my history with the series. If you don't want to read all this, that's totally fine, I'll give a TL;DR at the end. I'm mostly writing this because I haven't really gone through all this coherently before, and it's nice to get it out.
I was exposed to a few fan things back when I initially started watching around early 2011. Probably the most significant thing that I really enjoyed was the first Anthology which I saw around June of 2011. Still after the initial craze in 2011-2012, I mostly focused on watching the show. A big reason for this is that I am very shy, and since I had no friends in the community, I didn't engage with the fandom in a consistent way. I was also too ashamed/embarrassed to admit to anyone I knew IRL that I liked the show. This was exacerbated by the fact that I went to college in Fall of 2012 and didn't want to ruin my chance of finding a friend group. I'm not saying this was the right thing to do, it's just what I did.
From around mid 2016 to late 2018 I took a break from the show (and almost everything else) because of personal reasons unrelated to the show. In 2019 I picked it back up and watched the final season as it aired. When the show ended, I was in shock feeling that this extremely special and personal thing in my life had come to an end. Even though I was never willing to admit to those around me that I watched it, MLP had always been a source of positivity and joy whenever I watched it. It literally kept me from giving in to my deep depression on many occasions. Dazed by what I perceived as the end, I took a break again until the G5 movie came out in 2021.
When the G5 movie came out it kind of shook me from my stupor. I suddenly realized I was being irrational, that MLP wasn't really over, and that it would probably never be over. However, while I did enjoy the new movie, the lack of new content was fairly brutal, compared to the 1 episode every other week of the year I was used to getting. I also recognized that I was really missing FiM specifically, and that that I was actually hurt by the series ending.
I knew it would be unhealthy for me to keep ignoring that, and suddenly I realized, that I could simply re-watch the series. I mean, why not? I loved it then, why not now? This led me to develop a plan to fill the void I was feeling, by simply re-watching the series starting around March of 2022, with the plan of finishing it by the time the new G5 series aired in September. Suddenly I was in the midst of an FiM extravaganza, watching an episode or two every day. It was wonderful! With it becoming a short part of my daily routine, suddenly it became much less a somewhat painful memory in the back of my mind, and more of a comforting reality that I was thinking about often.
Since my wheels were turning on the subject, I suddenly realized that I still hadn't gone over the music of the series. I intended to do that in 2019, but never got around to it (side note: I am very into music). I figured the end of each season would be the perfect time to gather all the show music I liked. Once I started doing that, it reminded me of some of the old fan music that I wanted to include as well (the original Eurobeat Brony Discord song, Anthropology, etc.) and I decided since I was already in this deep, why not start exploring a bunch of fan music I'd never heard before?
So, in a way, it was the fan music that opened the floodgates for me. I realized that not only could I simply re-watch the show, but I could engage with a vast pool of FiM related stuff I had never even heard or seen before. The thought was incredibly comforting, so I just dove in. I realized that even if I didn't enjoy most of it quite as much as the show, it was a hell of a lot better than nothing, and that some of it I did enjoy as much as the show (like this video!).
One critical moment that stands out to me occurred about one month ago when I actually replied to someone in the comments under one of the MLP music related things I was going through. Like I said before, I extremely rarely had engaged with the community in the past. We exchanged only a few messages back and forth, but it was a pleasant exchange, and I felt a nice sense of relation that I'd never been able to feel since I don't have any friends in the fandom. I realize this must sound very ironic in the context of a show that's literally ABOUT friendship, but what can I say, except I'm a very slow learner with regard to my own feelings.
Anyway, I've been commenting more and more under various videos and even on a few Equestria Daily posts and things like that. I think I'll try to be less shy from now on. Maybe I'll even admit to some people I know I like the show or even go to a con one day. I still think I've got a lot of growth to do before I can do those things, but maybe one day. :)
TL;DR: After starting a full re-watch of the show, I decided to go through the soundtracks, which led me to listening to a bunch of fan music, which opened me up to trying all kinds of fan-related content.
My favorite fan song so far is Lullaby for a Princess (that's probably not too surprising), which I only heard because of the incredible animation. I don't think I could pick a favorite fan video, though I have absolutely loved several including this one.
just finished watching it and i’ve gotta say, the throw backs with the amazing animation genuinely sent chills down my spine and make me cry. i never really realised how much of an impact this show had on me. the visuals and atmosphere of this entire video was out of this world and really captured the emotions and memories embedded throughout the series. i think the part which really got me was the shot of dash and aj running together under the autumn leaves and the shot right after of winter wrap up and then the mane 6 and celestia eating at the donut shop. idk something about the colours and lighting really tied it together. you did such an amazing job in this :) 🖤🖤🖤
Man this hits a bullseye for me on joining stuff late. I just watched the show this year. And it's had a severe emotional impact on me, coming from someone with no friends. I get what the animations trying to teach but I can only hope the fandom has enough life in it left to enjoy. Well I guess this work of art is proof enough on that.
This animated film was just wow! After a long wait, this is incredible! As someone who was too young to understand what Fandom was, but watched many my little pony tributes, speedpaints and animated films, this hit different. I am so grateful for my recommendations showing me this masterpiece. Thank you, Minty Root!
Oh man, the perfection of the animation, the style, the music, everything is great. Everything it's heart warming and touched our hearts, so greatly done that I'm sure it'll become a classic, and I'll be there to see it. It's now on the top of the fandom animations.
The topic of missing out feels very personal for me, someone who joined the fandom too late to enjoy it in its golden years, I missed out those years, but this animation has shown me that it's never too late, and this fandom has and never will die. The Ride never ends :D.
It’s really unfortunate that this animated film had to come out when it did. Not only is the fandom not as big as it once was (so fewer people will likely see this video), but YouTube is basically murdering animations with its cutthroat algorithm. This video is a genuine masterpiece, and I believe it will be heralded as one of the greatest pony creations right up there with Lullaby For A Princess. It just sucks to know that YouTube will not do this animated film the justice it deserves. Still, I just wanted to say thank you Minty Root. Thank you for all your hard work, and thank you for all the obvious love and care you poured into this animation. YouTube might not treat your video well, but I believe the fandom will.
this absolute masterpiece is something I dream of one day being a part of once my musical abilities are to a more refined and productive place. This entire thing is a work of art. This kind of production is a goal for me, an inspiration, a creative motivation boost, a boost of positivity in my life to capture, and just.. wow. The feels in this.
How glimmy feels, I know that feel. I joined the fandom 2017, so I came in late. Came in as things were changing a lot and, not really dying necessarily, but different from how I've only heard things used to be. I have a lot of talent same as glimmy, lot of free time early on in my life, lot of time by myself to get really good at things, except spending time with friends. That came more later. So this whole thing is a big personal feel for me.

Absolutely stunning. As what appears to be the top comment said, I came into the Brony fandom after the show had already ended. I've always been glad that I missed all the petty drama in the communtiy, but I can't help but feel like I missed the glory days. I'll never get to experience new episodes, or some of the most popular things in the fandom at the same time everyone else did, I came late, and there's no changing that. But just like with Starlight, going back isn't the best option. It's better to live with what we have now and move forward, and I think that's a very powerful message.
In terms of everything else, the production quality is absolutely peak. The animation is fluid, smooth and appealing. Seriously, I can't imagine quite how annoying some of those shots were, especially with the camera. Speaking of the camera, the amount of interesting shots you did will definitely go underappreciated, but I definitely noticed, there's some really cool movement on display. The lighting is just.. incredible. There's not a single shot that isn't lit gorgeously, and the use of lighting for setting the tone is stellar and not something you see in most fan animations. The character models are great as well. They avoid slipping into the uncanny valley (most of the time, there are some shots that look a little off, but they're not distracting,) and the shader works very well for this style. The environments also deserve all the praise, translating the wacky style of the show into 3D is no easy deal and yet you did it, and did it very well.
The voice actors/actresses also produced great work. Overall, everything about this project is polished, and fantastic. Definitely one of the best fan animations to come out of this fandom. Thank you for all your hard work, and I look forward to seeing whatever you release next!
Environmentally, it's an amazing piece of work. Story, in general, is also an interesting idea. Surprisingly, visually, ponies are the weakest link. They just... Inconsistent between angles and clip a lot. And also really, really clash with a realistic environment. Which makes for a unique picture... At least. As long as they don't directly interact with objects.
Glad someone already pointed it out as I didn't want to be that person especially I don't have that much of a background on animating and all that jazz, but yep the ponies were really wonky at times, especially at angles, the front and back view were great, but the head (including the eyes and snout and horn) and legs went rogue at times (starlight's leg when she knocked lmfao) But twilight's wings had a massive improvement from the last animation or two (I can't remember which but it's about celestia and luna's home?) It's flapping is smoother and moves more naturally
The background and effects are PHENOMENAL, this both sparks a fire in me to strive to be as good as them, like how could you not!? The background itself is a cinematic masterpiece, and splashes me with cold water lmao because I feel I'm progressing too slowly and is on the verge of failing (I know that's the anxiety and depression talking but I can't help but be convinced lmao)

The shapes of G4 don't lend themselves to 3D very easily, I find these to be some of the best looking G4 3D models that aren't going for a more realistic approach (ie DJTHED_'s)
Dang is this quite a massive project! Just looking at all those textures and models with the 3D you added in there. Such a wonderful job from everyone involved, voice actors and your animation combined. Just is breathtaking to see how much effort and time you all must have put into this project, especially you Minty. It has such a great message too, just as if it could've been a good episode all on its own in the original series. Thank you for sharing such an amazing piece of art with us.

This was absolutely beautiful and stunning. I can really feel for Starlight and the art, animation and script is all really well done. If I have one critique is that the conversation between Twilight & Starlight at the point of Starlight's confession felt incomplete. The message is through but I feel like the scene could have been stretched to include more, particularly Twilight's response to Starlight admitting she couldn't keep up the pretence.
Other than that, this whole project is an absolute gem that all the more makes up for me coming in late. <3
Seriously this may be one of if not the best fan animation I've ever seen for MLP. The quality is insane, the writing is great, and I could genuinely imagine this being a real episode of the show. Those credits, too. Man. Just messes you right up.
I don’t really like Starlight Glimmer, but her line of “I can’t continue to pretend to laugh at jokes when I already know the punchline” struck a chord with me and I can’t quite tell why.
Gosh, this hit me so hard. I originally joined in the fandom around season 2 or 3, I might have been around for twilicorn, but i don't remember. All I remember is that my friends n family pressured me into dropping it, though it was the big thing that cracked my egg. Just came back to it last June, fell in love with the series again, and I've struggled with the 'missing out' feeling alot - especially because I feasibly could have been there. Recently, it'd been hitting me really hard, and while it didn't quell the issues, this definitely helps. Needed a few tears, tbh - really relating to Starlight here, and just hoping I can get to my own acorn.
It's every Fimfiction authors/reader dream come true to see an AU with Starlight back then, ...Whole time I was watching, I trying to tell her not to change too much. I always like when artists/authors explore Starlight's past. Seeing ending with Twilight and Head-mare Starlight with the new tree was a nice touch.
I like how Twilight would believe there could be another smart, talented unicorn like her who just happen to know something else about Nightmare Moon... But as soon as Starlight accidentally predicted Celestia´s "gambit" with the Gala Tickets, it raised a "Yellow Alert" on Purple Smart´s brain.
Twilight wanted to keep the existence of her brother a secret (for some reason), so as soon as Starlight revealed that she had information only somepony from Canterlot could even knew (a place Starlight may had being pretending to never visited), the logical conclusion is that Celestia is spying her... something that is actually true.
I cannot believe this was put together by hobbyists. If the original creators aren’t proud of this, then THEY are the ones “missing out”. Seriously, this is just… wow…
Oh wow! This masterpiece made me sob a lot! Definitely one of the top 5 animated films related to MLP FiM. I really like the story and the message that it sends out to the viewer. I know how Starlight feels, I changed schools several times when I was growing up, and as an adult my friendships are few and far between. Sure I have coworkers, acquaintances, online buddies, and the like, but hard-core friends that I've known for years are practically non-existent. Maybe that's why I vibe with Twilight beyond the "cute nerd" thing. Anyways great work as always Minty.
My god, this was gorgeous. The animation was incredible - bold enough to be different, but still appealing and charming. The 3d set pieces almost looked like RL models, giving a lovely contrast to the 2D ponies. The message was beautiful, heartfelt, and mature.
This is how I felt the moment that tree fell, and a feeling that I've explored so often in this fandom. Twilight must've felt it from time to time, knowing she can no longer experience the life she once had, but Starlight must've had it harder. Saudade is a helluva drug.
I started watching the series in 2020 and joined the fandom in 2021. I was really late to the party hehe. Seeing all the old animations and stories and memories made by bronies for a decade always gave me this feeling of having missed out. But just like Starlight, I learnt that moving forward is the only option and that we should enjoy what's yet to come! This is why I decided to watch the series with my friends, seeing every episode together, laughing at the jokes together and crying at the finale together was something that made me feel like I belonged. This animation connects to me so much and I can only be grateful to you, Minty Root and all of your team.
I feel this one a lot I've joined MLP back in 2019, but I really wish I did earlier. I've missed out on so many things here, and I still miss out on so much I can understand Starlight. I wish I could go back in time just like that, in the same age, at the start of it all But... they are right. I don't have to. I just need to live with the moment. Of course it's sad to miss out, especially hard for me because of FOMO, but I'm here now, for three years already

This was such an amazing story and beautifully done animation! I only recently came into the Fandom, well after Season 9 was over. But, wishing I was there with you all, going through all the surprises, cons, and such makes me wish I could go back in time. But, to have new developments like this one make me feel happy that FiM is still alive!!!
It took me a minute to realize the 2D Flash Models of the Cast were actually 3D, fantastic work! There were a few instances where it felt a bit clunky but some sequences were genuinely beautiful. I can't even begin to imagine how long it took to model all these assets.
This is incredible.. Each animation of Minty allows me to be in the world that I loved so much. By the way, I'm glad I don't understand Starlight's feelings. I was lucky enough to understand the beauty of this fandom and stay in it for the middle of the second season. I've been here all this time, I've been among these wonderful people and creations. This animation makes me truly appreciate it.

Beautiful. Simply beautiful. This was a simple emotional ride that understands what it wants to be and gets to its point and less quickly and without bashing the lesson over peoples heads like some actual episodes do. Never be sad about what you whern't there for. Make memories with them now and in the future. I am personaly not a Brony. But I did watch the show during early covid out of curiosity. And I found myself like Strarlight a lot. Of a show I casually watched out of curiosity, Starlight was a character I could understand well. Not becuse I shared and personal experences with her. But more like, some of the things she strugled with felt like the made sence. When you spent a majority of your life manipulating to get what you want. It would be hard to drop that compleatly. As the saying goes, "Old habits die hard." But she owned up to her mistakes. Yeah, sometimes she had to be outright told what mistake she made. But once she knows what she did wrong she goes out of her way to fix it. And I'm glad to see that this Video understands this. Once again she misused her magic to be there for memories she never been apart of. But now only did she fix it so she wasn't there. But she took a seed from the tree so a new one can be grown in the future and make new memories with Twilight and the others. I wish was in the show had something like this in it when I viewed it.
A well written, beautiful and sounding amazing character piece that deserves to be recolonized. Well done Minty Root, her crew and VA's.
This is the best animation film I've ever seen. Even though I can't get used to the horse drawn instead a pony but it doesn't affect on how I feel about the message of this. I also feel left out, I first watch it when it aired the first episode but I haven't seen the rest, back then I don't have WiFi so it's hard for me to watch all the season from the top. I've missed out all the memories of the ponies I love, just because I quit on watching them ever since episode 3 season 1 was aired. I'm so stupid. I shouldn't have despised the show just because it not magic related like the 1st episodes. Now even though I'm trying to re watch them all but it's not the same anymore, reactions years ago, music released, pmv, remix, musical and G4 ended. I've missed out so much more than Starlight did. I haven't finished watching from S1 till the end at all!! Now it's too late for me... The times I'm living have to go on with the ones I don't like, I can't accept that. But what choice do I have.
At first the trailer is quite confusing but now I've get it. Sometimes you come across a group of friends and wonder what journey did they take before that made them so amazing, all the memories, all the journeys changing them and making them so much more than just a group of friends, it's similar with my artist friends. They started at 2021 but I came at the end of 2021. I'm still new and seeing them draw so good I just feel left out, like I'm not good enough, but when they show their old arts when they first started I've realized they are just like me right now. Their paths to become a great artist is still beyond and I want to see them grow but I can't, the past is in the past. Now I just have to cherish the moment right now instead of try to look back and feel good about myself. I don't really know what to say next so all I'm saying is I love this film so much, thanks to the creator took almost a year to make this happen, it's so moving and meaningful.
The memories, the journey and path to success... Even though you can't see it the same way as before but you just have to accept it and make new memories...

This was breathtakingly gorgeous! This was well worth the wait! The conflict is relatable to me as I joined the fandom back in November 2012, so I missed out on a lot of what the fandom had to offer.
This is so beautiful. I love the lighting in this, it makes it feel so magical. I wish we had gotten a canon movie that looked something like this, the town of Ponyville is downright gorgeous.
This is unbelievably freakin COOL!!! I loved seing classic MLP scenes reimagined in your style, the wide shots are also very beautiful and the story is very touching and very appropriate for Starlight as a character. Besides some weird character positions and movements in a few places, I'd say this is a brilliant piece of work that you should proud of. Thanks, Minty!
This is why MLP G4 will always be alive. Thank you very much Minty Root and Team. This story could have been written by Lauren Faust herself. Or by the other MLP G4 Team VIP's like Big Jim Miller and/or Megan McCarthey. This episode is just an other masterpiece. Keep up the good work!
I haven't finished watching Season 7, so I came here with caution, still trying to avoid spoilers, and I was glad to find out the short took place around the time I stopped watching (other than the last scene, but it was subtle and I already knew about it, from YouTube thumbnails and such). Congratulations on finishing yet another project, Minty Root! And it looks amazing!

Sweet Celestia this is so spectacular. The graphics style are so sublime and mesmerizing that are breathtaking, from the ponies to the lands. The voice acting is gorgeous! Everyone made a great work doing the cast, specially Starlight, she sounds so natural. And the story, oh the story. It's one of the most emotive, wholesome and marvelous ones I've ever seen. It goes so well with the title and has a lot of sense. The plot really hits hard and what it represents is awestruck. SPOILER For real, seeing Starlight feeling out of the many adventures Twilight and her friends had just hurts, and that she wanted to be part had it's pros but cons equally. This really shows that it's ok to not have been part of the past, becauae there is a present better for you. And that last scene, seeing the oak growing strong with Princess Twilight and Headmare Starlight watching it hits harder. It made me smile and let a tear out. Wonderful work! One of the best animation ever made about MLP!

I really enjoy your video addaptation so much deapite the end of the G4 series 3 years ago (and being late to know it too) with its splendid graphics, storytelling, music and visual effects. What a great animation to remember shocking moments of G4 series too (from the beginning party to season 6 I guess), I'm sure that all the work and time you had for doing this was worth it after all (and any other MLP animator who created something similar and interesting like this can agree with me too). That was so absolutely amazing! It's not easy feeling left out in the past, but that doesn't mean you can't focus on making new memories and connections in the present.
Gosh this was a masterpiece, it brings back so many old memories!! I just doesn't matter who is late in sharing those memories, its always about respecting the old ones and learning from them for making new memories together!!
I don't often comment on videos because of Twitter and stuff being around, but I will for old times sake, and that's what I think this means. I think, for Starlight and for anyone wanting to join the fandom, having so much of the past being presented to you as a better time makes enjoying the present difficult, if not impossible. This exists in all walks of life, but for the fandom, I can't imagine joining now. Knowing you've got a decade of events to catch up on and understand to some degree, let alone being told the past was "better" is not very inspiring. But, the past is the past, and it's important to enjoy the present, and create a better future.
The fandom's golden age has not gone away. This IS the fandom's golden age. Why? Every single creation is literally GOLDEN.
Sure it might not reach the millions of views others had before. But the recent animations and brony creations have not diminished in quality. I'd argue everything has actually upped in quality!
This was the most amazing, heartwarming, magical, beautiful, sentimental thing i'v ever seen. Ever since i saw your first animation i'v been inchanted by your visuals and story telling, became my favorite ponytuber/animator in that very moment also. And i'm so so happy to finally see this! IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL OMGGGGG the backgrounds have to be my favorite, they're all so gorgeous. The cute expressions on the ponies were another thing that made me smile, and all the warm fuzzy feelings of MLP I've missed so much. I feel for poor Glim Glam to so more feels. This i think is my new favoriteeeeee. Say whatever you want but this animation's idea would be perfect episode in the MLP:FIM series as a milestone and a reminder of what the series went through. Even it works better than Starlight's album episodes we got after the season 9 finale-finale.

I saw me in there, I thought I missed out on all the opportunities to be with the older animators. I soon later thought that, just because I wasn't there from the beginning doesn't mean I can't connect with them in todays world of animators. I'm slowly becoming closer to them each and every time I talk to them. Which makes me think of another quote. "The past brings great memories, But it is our choice to bring great memories to the future"
Joining at 2017. Yeah, even Starlight was earlier than me, so imagine how I feel. Sadly, MLP didn't end with a shining crystal castle for me. It ended with the library burning down. Still, I'm trying my best to grow new trees, as hard as it is.

I got soooo emotional again!!! qwq I didnt knew there are still sooo awesome animations coming out! It reminded me sooo strong to myself, when i joined the community, they aired lie the 4th and 5th season and i watched all the other seasons after the fourtht one. The Fear of missing out is something we have alot in our time today and i know what starlight felt, because i felt it too with all the seasons and movies relleased of my little pony. I think that might be a reason why i love reaction videos of it. i loved watching those in the past, specially with huge groups in it. One of the reaction i watched a few more times, it was a huge group watching the season finale of season 2.. i literally watched it 3-4 times the last few years, because it is so awesome to see all of it and what happened there. I noticed Luna is missing in the second scene/timeline where Celestia opens and views the first photo of the mane 6 bearers of the elements. Between 7:27 and 12:15. Is that because they didn't attempt to find the elements of harmony and instead used friendship and since Starlight knew who Nightmare Moon was inside was able to reform her a different way allowing Luna to be publicly present earlier? I'm curious on what your take of FiM ep2 was with starlight is.
That was amazing ^^ the voice was really good and the animation astonishing. But more importantly I really like the idea of Starlight feeling like the fith wheel and trying to just be part of Twilight history. Seriously? You think Twilight would think someone is trying to hurt her if they are hiding something DESPITE spending months with them and going on all sorts of adventures together? So the reason to time-travel into your friends' past is to take part in the cool stories they tell you, and the reason to not use your foreknowledge to help your friends solve their problems is that then the said stories would not happen? It is just petty and selfish as the canon "Cutie re-mark" story.
There should be one where a brand new villain (named Vertigous) tricks them on wishing they were never born.

Minty root has come far from 9 years ago with flash feels werid seeing high improvement since bronycon 2013 intro and Luna animation very impressive for 10 years next year. In August toon boom harmony has really improved there products . I use the old toon harmony in 2015 wasn’t really good with it because o had no internet for it but now days I feel I want to mess with more animations programs even if I have to still use sfm for 8 years
Sorry but the faces look terrible and are the last thing you want looking off. You should have put a lot more focus into making this aspect as non strange as possible because faces are the emotional focal point for the audience. If that means re-doing your models so be it.
The writing is also very clunky and character reactions are questionable. For example Starlights reaction over screwing up the door is way too dramatic given the circumstances, it comes off as overblown instead of sympathetic. That makes me not care but I should care because I'm being told a story. You should really find better writers and many of them exist out there who I know would be happy working with you, try holding a screenplay writing contest on FiMFiction or slash mlp or something.
You have made some great points and I agree with everything written in here. I also don't think that the "realistic" background and props (like the trees) really fit the 2D models that they wanted to go for. It just feels... Off. The side views are also not that great, nor the lip syncing, eyelashes or some of the hair movements for example. Overall, I wouldn't say this project is bad, i would give it a solid 7/10 because of the effort that was put into it, but it definitely could be better in many ways. The lighting was properly done. The animation just needs also more consistency.
The Past IS in Our Beloved Memories and it will still Exist Within Our Hearts No Matter Where We are, Even though We cannot see it anymore thus feeling the sensation again and again and again. But We have to Go towards the future Making New Chapter of Our Own Stories Life as Best We can creating New Memories with Friends Family Until We Return to The Light.

Oh wow, this hit really close to home for me. I entered into this fandom really late (first started watching the show when the 5th season was airing, officially joined the fandom during the final 9th season) and looking at all the things the brony fandom has gone through and done, makes me feel like I really missed out. I'm trying not to think what could have been and just focus on the here and now, but it's hard sometimes. Thank you so much, Minty Root. I love Golden Oak Library from firsts seasons and for me it was the most painful thing in mlp series what happened in S4. Great applause to voice actors as well. This really tugged hard on my heart strings for the show, and in a way I can kind of relate to the missing out theme of the whole animation, joining pretty late into the community when the fandom was dwindling and not at its peak, that really hit me. The visuals are absolutely astounding I was gushing with joy when I got to see ponyville and canterlot in such great detail! Everything felt so cinematic, mixed in with the lighting I was awe struck! I'm a sucker for 3d environments with 2d rigs being animated in it and the way you executed it was absolutely beautiful. I really can't describe how well this was made, massive kudos to the VA's! 5 likesI see so many comments everywhere on YouTube, even my own videos about how so many current members on the fandom wish they were a part of it during the "golden years" of 2011-2013/2014. It's fine to reminisce, I miss those days too, but I feel that sometimes we get so caught up thinking about the old days that we forget how bright the future is. This video itself existing in 2022 shows just how active and alive the fandom is even today, and it excites me to be a part of it going forward, especially as someone now making content for it.

This was incredible; the animation (especially the work on the lighting) and the voice cast (especially Twilight's VA) were just so darn good! Honestly I'd say this is a fitting ending to the G4 series itself. No retiring Princesses, no seeing our favorite pones get old. Just Starlight Glimmer learning an important lesson about friendship and looking to the future while we get to reminisce on the memories we made with these wonderful ponies. Thank you so much for this, it was phenomenal!

9 likesI... am speechless. This is by far one of the best MLP fan-made films I've seen in a long time! The story was good, the voice acting was perfect, the animation was fantastic, and the effort that you and everyone else on the team put into this was absolutely marvelous. In the scene where it showed remastered shots of classic episodes from seasons 1 to 4, I felt a large wave of nostalgia overcome me. Amazing work, Minty Root! I hope to see more content from you.

7 likesI have been watching MLP since the middle of the first season of FiM, but I never really got super into a lot of the fan creations until recently. It was an absolute pleasure to see one of your animations on the day it came out. This was really moving, especially the flashes of scenes throughout the seasons and the ending between Starlight, Twilight and the tree.

0 likes@Vincent Horn It wasn't necessarily one single thing. To really understand what I mean I'm afraid I'd have to explain my history with the series. If you don't want to read all this, that's totally fine, I'll give a TL;DR at the end. I'm mostly writing this because I haven't really gone through all this coherently before, and it's nice to get it out.
0 likesI was exposed to a few fan things back when I initially started watching around early 2011. Probably the most significant thing that I really enjoyed was the first Anthology which I saw around June of 2011. Still after the initial craze in 2011-2012, I mostly focused on watching the show. A big reason for this is that I am very shy, and since I had no friends in the community, I didn't engage with the fandom in a consistent way. I was also too ashamed/embarrassed to admit to anyone I knew IRL that I liked the show. This was exacerbated by the fact that I went to college in Fall of 2012 and didn't want to ruin my chance of finding a friend group. I'm not saying this was the right thing to do, it's just what I did.
From around mid 2016 to late 2018 I took a break from the show (and almost everything else) because of personal reasons unrelated to the show. In 2019 I picked it back up and watched the final season as it aired. When the show ended, I was in shock feeling that this extremely special and personal thing in my life had come to an end. Even though I was never willing to admit to those around me that I watched it, MLP had always been a source of positivity and joy whenever I watched it. It literally kept me from giving in to my deep depression on many occasions. Dazed by what I perceived as the end, I took a break again until the G5 movie came out in 2021.
When the G5 movie came out it kind of shook me from my stupor. I suddenly realized I was being irrational, that MLP wasn't really over, and that it would probably never be over. However, while I did enjoy the new movie, the lack of new content was fairly brutal, compared to the 1 episode every other week of the year I was used to getting. I also recognized that I was really missing FiM specifically, and that that I was actually hurt by the series ending.
I knew it would be unhealthy for me to keep ignoring that, and suddenly I realized, that I could simply re-watch the series. I mean, why not? I loved it then, why not now? This led me to develop a plan to fill the void I was feeling, by simply re-watching the series starting around March of 2022, with the plan of finishing it by the time the new G5 series aired in September. Suddenly I was in the midst of an FiM extravaganza, watching an episode or two every day. It was wonderful! With it becoming a short part of my daily routine, suddenly it became much less a somewhat painful memory in the back of my mind, and more of a comforting reality that I was thinking about often.
Since my wheels were turning on the subject, I suddenly realized that I still hadn't gone over the music of the series. I intended to do that in 2019, but never got around to it (side note: I am very into music). I figured the end of each season would be the perfect time to gather all the show music I liked. Once I started doing that, it reminded me of some of the old fan music that I wanted to include as well (the original Eurobeat Brony Discord song, Anthropology, etc.) and I decided since I was already in this deep, why not start exploring a bunch of fan music I'd never heard before?
So, in a way, it was the fan music that opened the floodgates for me. I realized that not only could I simply re-watch the show, but I could engage with a vast pool of FiM related stuff I had never even heard or seen before. The thought was incredibly comforting, so I just dove in. I realized that even if I didn't enjoy most of it quite as much as the show, it was a hell of a lot better than nothing, and that some of it I did enjoy as much as the show (like this video!).
One critical moment that stands out to me occurred about one month ago when I actually replied to someone in the comments under one of the MLP music related things I was going through. Like I said before, I extremely rarely had engaged with the community in the past. We exchanged only a few messages back and forth, but it was a pleasant exchange, and I felt a nice sense of relation that I'd never been able to feel since I don't have any friends in the fandom. I realize this must sound very ironic in the context of a show that's literally ABOUT friendship, but what can I say, except I'm a very slow learner with regard to my own feelings.
Anyway, I've been commenting more and more under various videos and even on a few Equestria Daily posts and things like that. I think I'll try to be less shy from now on. Maybe I'll even admit to some people I know I like the show or even go to a con one day. I still think I've got a lot of growth to do before I can do those things, but maybe one day. :)
TL;DR: After starting a full re-watch of the show, I decided to go through the soundtracks, which led me to listening to a bunch of fan music, which opened me up to trying all kinds of fan-related content.

My favorite fan song so far is Lullaby for a Princess (that's probably not too surprising), which I only heard because of the incredible animation. I don't think I could pick a favorite fan video, though I have absolutely loved several including this one.
just finished watching it and i’ve gotta say, the throw backs with the amazing animation genuinely sent chills down my spine and make me cry. i never really realised how much of an impact this show had on me. the visuals and atmosphere of this entire video was out of this world and really captured the emotions and memories embedded throughout the series. i think the part which really got me was the shot of dash and aj running together under the autumn leaves and the shot right after of winter wrap up and then the mane 6 and celestia eating at the donut shop. idk something about the colours and lighting really tied it together. you did such an amazing job in this :) 🖤🖤🖤
4 likesMan this hits a bullseye for me on joining stuff late. I just watched the show this year. And it's had a severe emotional impact on me, coming from someone with no friends. I get what the animations trying to teach but I can only hope the fandom has enough life in it left to enjoy. Well I guess this work of art is proof enough on that.

The topic of missing out feels very personal for me, someone who joined the fandom too late to enjoy it in its golden years, I missed out those years, but this animation has shown me that it's never too late, and this fandom has and never will die. The Ride never ends :D.
It’s really unfortunate that this animated film had to come out when it did. Not only is the fandom not as big as it once was (so fewer people will likely see this video), but YouTube is basically murdering animations with its cutthroat algorithm. This video is a genuine masterpiece, and I believe it will be heralded as one of the greatest pony creations right up there with Lullaby For A Princess. It just sucks to know that YouTube will not do this animated film the justice it deserves. Still, I just wanted to say thank you Minty Root. Thank you for all your hard work, and thank you for all the obvious love and care you poured into this animation. YouTube might not treat your video well, but I believe the fandom will.

3 likesHow glimmy feels, I know that feel. I joined the fandom 2017, so I came in late. Came in as things were changing a lot and, not really dying necessarily, but different from how I've only heard things used to be. I have a lot of talent same as glimmy, lot of free time early on in my life, lot of time by myself to get really good at things, except spending time with friends. That came more later. So this whole thing is a big personal feel for me.

1 likeAbsolutely stunning. As what appears to be the top comment said, I came into the Brony fandom after the show had already ended. I've always been glad that I missed all the petty drama in the communtiy, but I can't help but feel like I missed the glory days. I'll never get to experience new episodes, or some of the most popular things in the fandom at the same time everyone else did, I came late, and there's no changing that. But just like with Starlight, going back isn't the best option. It's better to live with what we have now and move forward, and I think that's a very powerful message.
3 likesIn terms of everything else, the production quality is absolutely peak. The animation is fluid, smooth and appealing. Seriously, I can't imagine quite how annoying some of those shots were, especially with the camera. Speaking of the camera, the amount of interesting shots you did will definitely go underappreciated, but I definitely noticed, there's some really cool movement on display.
The lighting is just.. incredible. There's not a single shot that isn't lit gorgeously, and the use of lighting for setting the tone is stellar and not something you see in most fan animations. The character models are great as well. They avoid slipping into the uncanny valley (most of the time, there are some shots that look a little off, but they're not distracting,) and the shader works very well for this style. The environments also deserve all the praise, translating the wacky style of the show into 3D is no easy deal and yet you did it, and did it very well.
The voice actors/actresses also produced great work. Overall, everything about this project is polished, and fantastic. Definitely one of the best fan animations to come out of this fandom. Thank you for all your hard work, and I look forward to seeing whatever you release next!

Surprisingly, visually, ponies are the weakest link. They just... Inconsistent between angles and clip a lot. And also really, really clash with a realistic environment. Which makes for a unique picture... At least. As long as they don't directly interact with objects.

0 likesGlad someone already pointed it out as I didn't want to be that person especially I don't have that much of a background on animating and all that jazz, but yep the ponies were really wonky at times, especially at angles, the front and back view were great, but the head (including the eyes and snout and horn) and legs went rogue at times (starlight's leg when she knocked lmfao)
1 likeBut twilight's wings had a massive improvement from the last animation or two (I can't remember which but it's about celestia and luna's home?) It's flapping is smoother and moves more naturally
The background and effects are PHENOMENAL, this both sparks a fire in me to strive to be as good as them, like how could you not!? The background itself is a cinematic masterpiece, and splashes me with cold water lmao because I feel I'm progressing too slowly and is on the verge of failing (I know that's the anxiety and depression talking but I can't help but be convinced lmao)

The shapes of G4 don't lend themselves to 3D very easily, I find these to be some of the best looking G4 3D models that aren't going for a more realistic approach (ie DJTHED_'s)

16 likesThis was absolutely beautiful and stunning. I can really feel for Starlight and the art, animation and script is all really well done. If I have one critique is that the conversation between Twilight & Starlight at the point of Starlight's confession felt incomplete. The message is through but I feel like the scene could have been stretched to include more, particularly Twilight's response to Starlight admitting she couldn't keep up the pretence.

Seriously this may be one of if not the best fan animation I've ever seen for MLP. The quality is insane, the writing is great, and I could genuinely imagine this being a real episode of the show. Those credits, too. Man. Just messes you right up.
I don’t really like Starlight Glimmer, but her line of “I can’t continue to pretend to laugh at jokes when I already know the punchline” struck a chord with me and I can’t quite tell why.
3 likesGosh, this hit me so hard. I originally joined in the fandom around season 2 or 3, I might have been around for twilicorn, but i don't remember. All I remember is that my friends n family pressured me into dropping it, though it was the big thing that cracked my egg. Just came back to it last June, fell in love with the series again, and I've struggled with the 'missing out' feeling alot - especially because I feasibly could have been there. Recently, it'd been hitting me really hard, and while it didn't quell the issues, this definitely helps. Needed a few tears, tbh - really relating to Starlight here, and just hoping I can get to my own acorn.

I always like when artists/authors explore Starlight's past. Seeing ending with Twilight and Head-mare Starlight with the new tree was a nice touch.

2 likesBut as soon as Starlight accidentally predicted Celestia´s "gambit" with the Gala Tickets, it raised a "Yellow Alert" on Purple Smart´s brain.
Twilight wanted to keep the existence of her brother a secret (for some reason), so as soon as Starlight revealed that she had information only somepony from Canterlot could even knew (a place Starlight may had being pretending to never visited), the logical conclusion is that Celestia is spying her... something that is actually true.
I cannot believe this was put together by hobbyists. If the original creators aren’t proud of this, then THEY are the ones “missing out”. Seriously, this is just… wow…

3 likesI know how Starlight feels, I changed schools several times when I was growing up, and as an adult my friendships are few and far between. Sure I have coworkers, acquaintances, online buddies, and the like, but hard-core friends that I've known for years are practically non-existent. Maybe that's why I vibe with Twilight beyond the "cute nerd" thing. Anyways great work as always Minty.

This is how I felt the moment that tree fell, and a feeling that I've explored so often in this fandom. Twilight must've felt it from time to time, knowing she can no longer experience the life she once had, but Starlight must've had it harder. Saudade is a helluva drug.

1 likeSeeing all the old animations and stories and memories made by bronies for a decade always gave me this feeling of having missed out. But just like Starlight, I learnt that moving forward is the only option and that we should enjoy what's yet to come! This is why I decided to watch the series with my friends, seeing every episode together, laughing at the jokes together and crying at the finale together was something that made me feel like I belonged.
This animation connects to me so much and I can only be grateful to you, Minty Root and all of your team.

I can understand Starlight. I wish I could go back in time just like that, in the same age, at the start of it all
But... they are right. I don't have to. I just need to live with the moment. Of course it's sad to miss out, especially hard for me because of FOMO, but I'm here now, for three years already

That... Well, I'm crying, that says something. That was beautiful! So many moments from the show, packed into what felt like an actual episode, rendered in beautiful 3D. Thank you for this. But, wishing I was there with you all, going through all the surprises, cons, and such makes me wish I could go back in time. But, to have new developments like this one make me feel happy that FiM is still alive!!!
It took me a minute to realize the 2D Flash Models of the Cast were actually 3D, fantastic work! There were a few instances where it felt a bit clunky but some sequences were genuinely beautiful. I can't even begin to imagine how long it took to model all these assets.

Beautiful. Simply beautiful. This was a simple emotional ride that understands what it wants to be and gets to its point and less quickly and without bashing the lesson over peoples heads like some actual episodes do. Never be sad about what you whern't there for. Make memories with them now and in the future. I am personaly not a Brony. But I did watch the show during early covid out of curiosity. And I found myself like Strarlight a lot. Of a show I casually watched out of curiosity, Starlight was a character I could understand well. Not becuse I shared and personal experences with her. But more like, some of the things she strugled with felt like the made sence. When you spent a majority of your life manipulating to get what you want. It would be hard to drop that compleatly. As the saying goes, "Old habits die hard." But she owned up to her mistakes. Yeah, sometimes she had to be outright told what mistake she made. But once she knows what she did wrong she goes out of her way to fix it. And I'm glad to see that this Video understands this. Once again she misused her magic to be there for memories she never been apart of. But now only did she fix it so she wasn't there. But she took a seed from the tree so a new one can be grown in the future and make new memories with Twilight and the others. I wish was in the show had something like this in it when I viewed it.

This is the best animation film I've ever seen. Even though I can't get used to the horse drawn instead a pony but it doesn't affect on how I feel about the message of this. I also feel left out, I first watch it when it aired the first episode but I haven't seen the rest, back then I don't have WiFi so it's hard for me to watch all the season from the top. I've missed out all the memories of the ponies I love, just because I quit on watching them ever since episode 3 season 1 was aired. I'm so stupid. I shouldn't have despised the show just because it not magic related like the 1st episodes. Now even though I'm trying to re watch them all but it's not the same anymore, reactions years ago, music released, pmv, remix, musical and G4 ended. I've missed out so much more than Starlight did. I haven't finished watching from S1 till the end at all!! Now it's too late for me... The times I'm living have to go on with the ones I don't like, I can't accept that. But what choice do I have.
1 likeAt first the trailer is quite confusing but now I've get it. Sometimes you come across a group of friends and wonder what journey did they take before that made them so amazing, all the memories, all the journeys changing them and making them so much more than just a group of friends, it's similar with my artist friends. They started at 2021 but I came at the end of 2021. I'm still new and seeing them draw so good I just feel left out, like I'm not good enough, but when they show their old arts when they first started I've realized they are just like me right now. Their paths to become a great artist is still beyond and I want to see them grow but I can't, the past is in the past. Now I just have to cherish the moment right now instead of try to look back and feel good about myself. I don't really know what to say next so all I'm saying is I love this film so much, thanks to the creator took almost a year to make this happen, it's so moving and meaningful.
The memories, the journey and path to success... Even though you can't see it the same way as before but you just have to accept it and make new memories...

The voice acting is gorgeous! Everyone made a great work doing the cast, specially Starlight, she sounds so natural.
And the story, oh the story. It's one of the most emotive, wholesome and marvelous ones I've ever seen. It goes so well with the title and has a lot of sense.
The plot really hits hard and what it represents is awestruck.
SPOILER
For real, seeing Starlight feeling out of the many adventures Twilight and her friends had just hurts, and that she wanted to be part had it's pros but cons equally.
This really shows that it's ok to not have been part of the past, becauae there is a present better for you.
And that last scene, seeing the oak growing strong with Princess Twilight and Headmare Starlight watching it hits harder. It made me smile and let a tear out.
Wonderful work! One of the best animation ever made about MLP!

0 likesI think, for Starlight and for anyone wanting to join the fandom, having so much of the past being presented to you as a better time makes enjoying the present difficult, if not impossible. This exists in all walks of life, but for the fandom, I can't imagine joining now. Knowing you've got a decade of events to catch up on and understand to some degree, let alone being told the past was "better" is not very inspiring. But, the past is the past, and it's important to enjoy the present, and create a better future.

I soon later thought that, just because I wasn't there from the beginning doesn't mean I can't connect with them in todays world of animators. I'm slowly becoming closer to them each and every time I talk to them. Which makes me think of another quote.

0 likesThe Fear of missing out is something we have alot in our time today and i know what starlight felt, because i felt it too with all the seasons and movies relleased of my little pony. I think that might be a reason why i love reaction videos of it. i loved watching those in the past, specially with huge groups in it. One of the reaction i watched a few more times, it was a huge group watching the season finale of season 2.. i literally watched it 3-4 times the last few years, because it is so awesome to see all of it and what happened there. Its awesome. Great animation and Awesome Story!

0 likesI noticed Luna is missing in the second scene/timeline where Celestia opens and views the first photo of the mane 6 bearers of the elements. Between 7:27 and 12:15. Is that because they didn't attempt to find the elements of harmony and instead used friendship and since Starlight knew who Nightmare Moon was inside was able to reform her a different way allowing Luna to be publicly present earlier? I'm curious on what your take of FiM ep2 was with starlight is.

0 likesMinty root has come far from 9 years ago with flash feels werid seeing high improvement since bronycon 2013 intro and Luna animation very impressive for 10 years next year. In August toon boom harmony has really improved there products . I use the old toon harmony in 2015 wasn’t really good with it because o had no internet for it but now days I feel I want to mess with more animations programs even if I have to still use sfm for 8 years

Sorry but the faces look terrible and are the last thing you want looking off. You should have put a lot more focus into making this aspect as non strange as possible because faces are the emotional focal point for the audience. If that means re-doing your models so be it.
2 likesThe writing is also very clunky and character reactions are questionable. For example Starlights reaction over screwing up the door is way too dramatic given the circumstances, it comes off as overblown instead of sympathetic. That makes me not care but I should care because I'm being told a story. You should really find better writers and many of them exist out there who I know would be happy working with you, try holding a screenplay writing contest on FiMFiction or slash mlp or something.

0 likesYou have made some great points and I agree with everything written in here. I also don't think that the "realistic" background and props (like the trees) really fit the 2D models that they wanted to go for. It just feels... Off. The side views are also not that great, nor the lip syncing, eyelashes or some of the hair movements for example. Overall, I wouldn't say this project is bad, i would give it a solid 7/10 because of the effort that was put into it, but it definitely could be better in many ways. The lighting was properly done. The animation just needs also more consistency.
