I love that everyone I have seen in this comments section has said positive things about the DS, which goes to show the impact this console had in a lot of people's lives, myself included.
I just got a Mario DSi XL and an R4 card through eBay this year to re-experience, or play for the first time, so many amazing games, and has been one of the main reasons I have been stable during this quarantine.
To everyone that has/had any of the DS models, I would love to hear your experiences with this console.

I miss this feeling. What would usually happen is that I’d watch a bunch of creepy pastas and get scared to sleep at night so I’d play on my ds to calm myself only to accidentally fall asleep on it. Then wake up like 3-4 hours later to hear this heavenly sound :)

I used to use Pictochat to have conversations with my cousin, but then I moved house and I lost touch with him. The last time we were around each other, he acted as if he didn’t remember me at all! He didn’t say a word with me and just simply kept his eyes glued to his phone.

there was me and 2 friends having a sleep over, we decided to sleep in a tent in the backyard. we all had a DSi so we used it to talk in pictochat and goof off. at one point one of them said “i’m hungry” and then a few seconds later we hear him eating soup and we all just started laughing our heads off at how sudden it was.
i miss those days of being a kid and just having fun with friends now...

Ah yes, I’ve always enjoyed the DSi Menu.
Problem was that I couldn’t do Multiplayer with a WiFi Connection since the one I used wasn’t able to be used for the Old Setup, so I was forced to miss out on all this Multiplayer fun I could’ve had as a kid.
There’s people saying you can do it in 2020, but it doesn’t work even if I use a Phone with the Hotspot equivalent to the ones from back then.

I still have my Nintendo DS, this is really nostalgic, I miss the old days where I would hide it under my pillow if I heard my moms footsteps coming into my room.

i recently started playing on my old DSi again and this is bringing back a lot of memories

Man, those were the days, when my biggest worries were who everyone’s favorite color was, and I played NSMB all day on the weekends.

I remember my dad buying a Nintendo DSi for my sisters and I. We used to play Mario Kart (I was always Daisy), Nintendogs, and some strange game with a blue bed and a pastel pink background with white polka dots. My favorite thing was the Nintendo sound application because the liquids were rainbow and I associated with colours (I still do). There probably are various records of a young girl saying random crap and low quality recordings of random songs.

I remember once my DSi was connected to the internet, I would use it to read fanfiction all night long.

I remember when I used to get on my DSi and look at my camera gallery on there and whenever my mom worked night shifts at Scott & White I would always look at photos of her and start crying. She wasn’t dead or anything but I did miss her every night.

I got my Dsi out the other day. Let me share a story. One of my childhood friends (I am 16 now, 17 in March) named Wesley, used to hang out with me all the time. I remember after seeing his 3DS I really wanted one, but we weren't super rich, and I sort of liked the Dsi and DS better. So 2012 Christmas I asked good ol Santa for not a DSi, but a regular DS after my sister told me I have a better chance at getting a DS. But behold, that next morning near my stockings was a Dsi in blue. I was so excited, I had always played on my PSP but I really wanted to play the newer games. I remember showing Wesley it the next week, we played games together and stuff, it was awesome. My best friend Cody, who I've been friends with since I was 5, (11 years now!!!) always brought his DS on the bus to school, so I brought mine and we would play games together on the bus. I remember playing Mario Bros and Mario Kart super late on the weekends, messing around with the Brain Age training things, playing Flipnote Studio and all that stuff. Eventually I'd put the DS to the side and start to fall asleep, with that iconic home screen music playing in the ambient. Those were amazing times. Well, what brings me to talk about this is, I got my Dsi out the other day, and when I went to adjust the brightness in the settings, my message, that you have the option to leave on the top of the screen in settings read "Wesley Mc##### best friend :)". The reason this bothered me so much is because Wesley went down the wrong tracks. He became a drug dealer, and there were SWAT teams at his house two times. He got into a lot of trouble, I don't know where he lives now, I think he might live at his Uncles. I haven't talked to him since 6th grade, that was the very last time we ever spoke. Keep your friends out of trouble guys.

I got my DSi at a local Best Buy around 2012. Man I loved it but only had 3 games on there. One of them was an arcade game emulator made by Namco, another one was a Sonic game, and the last one was SM64DS. I remember shitting my pants when I finished SM64. Unfortunately the top display broke and I am unable to dump the NAND. Makes me really sad especially since I had some pictures of my father before he passed away on there.

In 2012, I actually restricted my own DS because i thought at the time randomising my password would be funny.
In 2020, i had decided to __ it and started to BRUTE FORCE ATTACK MY OWN DSI. Then i got bored after 2000 attempts (yes I actually did 2000) and got a master key and finally unlocked it. Hard to believe they still provided master keys but i ain’t complaining about anything except for the fact i was too late for the ishop. THE NOSTALGIA LIVES ON!

In 2011 I fell asleep while playing soulsilver, going against the elite four for the first time, everytime I woke up I was still in that incredibly tired state so I would still try and continue to play, by the time I woke up, I was still fighting the elite four member and was now down to my last pokemon and he had 2 or 3 of his still. I was disappointed in myself for falling asleep on my DSi because of this, so I vowed never to play it again in bed
