I don't need a program to tell me what is safe and what isn't. If I have my doubts, for cracked software, I'll use virustotal. adding onto my reply — there are also companies out there selling DRM-free copies of mainstream games at the cost of stripping some or all online functionality. GOG is one of them. there are free alternatives such as SteamUnlocked and FreeGOGGames. there's also The Pirate Bay, which is mainstream and has tons of fake mirrors.

This is why I'd rather use youtube-dl above all else for downloading youtube content. Sure, it's a command line program, which can be daunting to some people... but at least considering it's open source I know exactly what's going into it.
Yeah, youtube-dlg works very nicely. Probably the safest way to do youtube videos to .mp3, since some of the websites that do that are getting a little bit... wacky. One of 'em tried to download an .iso alongside the .mp3.
YouTube-DLG is a very good GUI for youtube-dl, it even works in Linux (there is a workaround for installing it on Ubuntu 20.04/22.04 but i only tested it on 20.04)
Some media players (at least mpv) support yt-dlp automatically. It doesn't have much of a UI but it has a mode where it just comes up with a window you can drag the link in to.
I just put them both to the test by downloading the exact same video then recoding it to mp4 in the same directory (under different names of course). I recorded both of them doing the job and yt-dlp does indeed blow youtube-dl out of the water. It was MUCH quicker than the original youtube-dl and I gotta say that I'm impressed. I'm 100% switching to yt-dlp from here on out based on the evidence
yt-dlp is more maintained than the original youtube-dl and yt-dlp exists on my devices. Even tho it is CLI-based program (tl;dr no GUI) I made my own custom and simple shell script to run on top of yt-dlp.
Just found out about YouTube-DL because of the Streisand effect (when it was taken down). It's way more convenient than using those shit ad-filled YouTube downloaders, wish I found about it earlier.

Its becuase massive is not necessarily a virus, its an sdk for developers to make people access their premium versions of their apps by using computing resources (basically youre paying premium subscriptions using mined crypto) but its still not okay
9:10 I got a cryptominer from a zip (didn't run it) and I first scanned it with Malwarebytes, nothing, I found out that the file was a cryptominer thanks to VirusTotal, so currently Malwarebytes is pretty behind in terms of malware protection!
False positives in Vitus total is pretty common, usually its only when 1 or 2 detect it, if multiple do, its a virus. Also, i dont think it scans .ZIP's, you have to unpack it in some folder and then do a scan... In my case at least
Well, they tried their best to obey the law by disclosing what they're doing (mining) and asking for the user's informal consent. It may be a Potentially Unwanted App but I see the devs have made some work to make sure it's lawful. That's probably why it's not detected by antivirus apps because it's not a virus by definition I think.
yt-dlp is a much better alternative to Youtube-dl, actively maintained, better performance, and has enough parity with its older counterpart that it can be a drop in replacement for most if not all scripts/programs.

Don't get me wrong but you probably have to open every single with Malwarebytes you can to detect those kinds of malware. As I know miners hide in the rootkits so it may be because Malwarebyes didn't scan the rootkits

Just a suggestion: If you want to download YouTube videos for free and in a more safer way, i'd reccomend:: 4K Video Downloader for your computer and Easy Tube Downloader for your phones or tablets. I've used these quite a lot in the past 10-more months and they work like a charm.
The downloader that i use is 4k video downloader its the only one i trust. and is already verified to not be malware. i barely even use it. only time i use it is to download memes
I don't use that, thankfully. Open source software is much much better and easier to use than that stuff. Go with the open source stuff. Steer clear from crapware like this.
Unknown videos are showing up in my watching history. LOTS OF THEM About 100 videos a day are ruining my recommendation! Not only do they show up in my watching history, but they're watched and liked all the way through. They're random videos in different languages such as Indian, Russian, Thai... Windows 10 is beating my hard drive to death. Could you please make a video on what causes high disk activity on windows 10 and how to fix it permanently.
I use the machine less frequently and don't install new software. Resource monitor only shows disk activity on System Volume Information folder, which was from backup and restore which I made monthly as with defragment schedule. Windows defender keeps on annoying with scans every now and then. I don't know what more to do. I don't know if windows is changing some schedules on its own after updates or something, I can't trust it, or from toasts in start menu, or random wallpapers, or what not. I don't need any of these.

Resource monitor only shows disk activity on System Volume Information folder, which was from backup and restore which I made monthly as with defragment schedule. Windows defender keeps on annoying with scans every now and then. I don't know what more to do. I don't know if windows is changing some schedules on its own after updates or something, I can't trust it, or from toasts in start menu, or random wallpapers, or what not. I don't need any of these.
