This is one of the most interesting episodes of Avatar I’ve seen and one of my favorites too. This episode reminds me of the “Frenemies” episode from S9 of MLP, focusing more on the antagonists rather than the protagonists (which is something that I like to see in a show). Another great reaction, man! Hope you’re doing well with yourself.😉
I really enjoyed your reaction. Many of your reactions in this episode were exactly how I reacted the first time as well. This episode was really unpredictable. I like the idea of Ember Island and how it encourages people to embark on a journey of self-discovery. I loved how this episode combined humor, tension and emotions so well together.
The scene where the group opens up about their feelings was well written, the climax with Zuko being angry at himself hit really hard. I'm almost certain he was thinking about his uncle during his outburst. His uncle Iroh who would do anything to give Zuko a happy life, yet was cast aside by the same Zuko who had convinced himself he already knew what would make him happy. When fans think of season 3 this episode is often one of the first to come to mind.
I'm excited and honored to be a part of your journey throughout this series. Part of me wishes I could forget this show and start all over again.
Thank you so much for taking us on this journey with you.
Probably one of my favorite episodes in the series. I usually love villain episodes and this one was really well done. We expended upon their personalities, we got to know more about their past or how they perceive some things, like how Azula feels about her mother. This episode also shows really well how the royal siblings are socially awkward in regular situations, especially Azula. Speaking of her, she has some of my all time favorite lines, a few of them on this episode, she is so entertaining XD.
This episode punishes you with saggy granny twins and cringey Azula dialogue, then rewards you with Ty Lee Extreme Beach Volleyball and some much-needed villain character depth. The only question is whether you can tolerate that initial gut punch to get to the sweet reward.

At least, I'm definitely not The one who can to make such unambiguous statements as "Russia happened" (don't know about you) In any case, I'm sorry if the military action has affected you or your loved ones in any way.
As fun as this episode is, it feels like Azula is a bit out of character. We've seen in the past that she knows how to conduct herself around people. She has to, in order to be as manipulative as she is. So it's weird that she can't hang out at a party without sounding like a robot or a maniac.
@@JH24821 Actually, the more I think about it, I think that second explanation regarding the island might be true. Assuming the island has some mystical ability to reveal people's true nature (and Avatar does have an element of that throughout), Azula's true nature is that she wants to control everything through a combination of fear and brute force. So perhaps "out of character" was a bad description. If anything, she's just being more honest than usual.
It could be in part because no one knows her real identity here. Here she's a "normal" person who's curious about what it's like being a normal person. It could also be because of the "magic" of Ember island revealing the more insecure side of her.
"My own mother thought I was a monster...she was right of course but it still hurt" 😂 all the realizations that happen in this episode are just woe

Yeah, essentially we're viewing the perspective of what life is like on the antagonist's side.

0 likesI'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that Combustion Mans firebending is some sort rare form of firebending where you can bend fire with your mind
3 likesThe villains get some interesting character development. It's great to see the contrast between Zuko and Azula.
