My favorite would probably have to be Gnome. Though I still am looking for other DEs. I want something modern and aesthetic, easy to use ( search bar feature) and lightweight. I am currently running Solus Gnome. Any suggestions?
My two favorite desktops are Cinnamon and KDE. I like Cinnamon because I like the Windows-type layout that I am the most familiar with, yet it's still has customization options like KDE does, although not quite as many. KDE is my other favorite simply because I love the modern and clean aesthetic to it.
KDE is an incredible desktop environment, no doubt about that. I use Cinnamon, personally. It is very simple to use and looks great! (especially on Manjaro, which I'm using)
I use Elementary OS' Pantheon DE, it's really gorgeous and simple, although sometimes it feels kinda buggy. I'm planning to switch to Manjaro KDE soon. :p
Currently using Debian with plasma desktop , and I customised it to look like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyz4-KZOzyI Idle ram use is always less than 2 gb and boot time is less than 15 sec ( can be reduced still). Gotta love customizability of plasma and stability of debian
I like xfce mostly just because it's lightweight but may look into kde more. Would love to get a working tiling manager but oof I've had troubles in the past. User error I'm sure.
I use KDE neon and Man it turned a Computer that only lasted 3 hours with Linux Mint to 4 hours. To me that's Cool oh and Windows used to last for about 1:30 or 2 hours if I'm using battery saver. If you're wondering why my battery last less it's because I use IntelliJ and Run a Sever in the Background while working also Working on VS code and Figma. Ohh yeah plus Firefox.
hey crypto enjoyed the video I was hoping if you can make a video a long one like the firefoxsetup for maximum security but one like a journey of a white hat hacker where to start where and how things go from the starting point ? enjoyed the video love the consistency.
think kde base is still way heavier than xfce in size ,although kde uses very low resources, almost close to xfce. (might be wrong about the second one coz i haven't used xfce recently but it had like a 80 gig difference in ram usage when i last used it.) ❤️ kde project :p
@Nuno Cardoso thats true 32bit manjaro xfce distros are like that too. but i was talking about package size not ram. like xfce js less than 100 mb in size (40-50 mb for minimal) whereas even minimal kde is 100-200 mb
ITSS also kde its super lgihtweightand only uses 530+mb my ram when opening it. and its also SUPER CUSTOMIZABLE and you can make a superb desktop layout in your ownliking
To anyone working on CompTIA certs. I have cracked the code on how to study and pass. The key is to NOT rely on the book! Read the topics but then take keywords/phrases and then do a quick YouTube/google search to get a massively more in-depth description. This is important cuz CompTIA exams only about half the questions actually are in the book. The other half they somehow expect you to have more in-depth knowledge on certain topics. I’m only 1/3 through the Net+ book n CompTIA certmasters have me at 75% starting knowledge vs 48% everyone else average. N it’s cuz of this process I know it💪🏻💪🏻
Ill post a video on specs for Linux laptops, I already made it. I don't use a virtual machine, I install direct to the computer. I'll make a Linux vm video in long form before too long too. But for VMs it's doable to run a Linux vm on windows Virtualbox with a i5 and 8gb ram.
Yeah. GNOME is just very polished, clean and easy, although it was pretty like a resource hunger. I have used Solus GNOME live and have good feel with it. Although my computer was pretty hot when run it :D
KDE looks amazing and customization is almost limitless but it’s too unstable for a daily. It reminds me of the days I used to jailbreak my iPhone, omg look at what it can do, but then texts stop working.
Haven't tried it myself yet, but if you're okay with missing many microsoft features but still want to stick to windows, I'd give the AME project a peek!
It's a set of instructions (and one prebuilt iso) to remove a lot of the privacy stuff from Windows, thus making it much snappier
LTT has a video talking about it, "we fixed windows" I think was the title, uploaded a few days ago
How do you get Kali or parrot on a usb stick or external HDD I know I sound pretty dumb but I had Kali on a virtual box bit I had to delete it for space but now I want it on a usb stick as my actual os
I don't want to be that guy but, I love Gnome with a passion
The multitasking bits are my favorite feature(s), being able to press the win/super key and have everything pop up? Love it!
I really wish other, lighter desktops had the same multitasking features. I have powerful-ish hardware so gnome hasn't been too slow for me so far thankfully, but I'd love to move to/try KDE again if it had that one feature

The easiest way to customize your KDE is going to System Settings, you will get all of options to customize in your way.

It seems like you cant crop windows without heavy compromises.
1 likeThe KDE themes I've seen only resemble windows on a surface level.
So it is probybly only an option for a secondary or slow machine you wouldn't do much on except like browse or write.
Crypto, Parrot KDE or Parrot MATE ? Suggestion for beginner who wants to start her journey in cybersec

Choose the DE like you want. The DE doesn't affect much how you use the distro. It just affect how the distro looks.
