Actually, the first youtube comment was made on the video called "Good Times!!!", it was posted by the user "Kazze" (he has changed his name to Marco Cassé), with the simple phrase "LOL!!!!!!!", surprisingly, the comment is still up and it's the top comment too. The "Interesting..." comment was made 28 minutes after the "LOL!!!!!!!" comment.

I disagree with your assessment of the appeal of early YouTube.
Some might have used it as a platform for their ambition to gain celebrity, but I think most used it as a kind of hang-out. A place to pass the time or to reach out to others and share your thoughts and ideas. It took a while for it to become so 'trendy'. The rewards programs for content creators, such as monetization, featured videos, awards for reaching statistical milestones, were years in the making and it was a long time before the average user really cared much about them. The possibility of becoming famous and successful through something like YouTube was a foreign idea and when it started happening people didn't know what to make of it.
I think Emplemon's one of the few youtubers that care a lot about this site's history and future. Thank you EmpMelon, for bringing knowledge to us mortals

Wow I never knew he was one of the creators of YouTube. When i first saw the video I always thought he was some random guy who just got lucky and was the first person ever to upload a video on YouTube.

Ultimately about 23 or so of the first 32 uploads from 2005 are publicly accessible, with the remainder likely lost to history (including several uploads by Jawed Karim).
You can amazingly enough (whether in original form, or through re-uploads) find a lot of the initial 2005 uploads.

There is literally no comprehensible comment there. I always come across bot account, but not to the degree like on that video. It's completely ruined. At this point it would be better to just close the comment section there, and let some AI algorithm clean it out.

Nice concept. You gonna follow the Chocolate Rain guy? His ascent into the community was another flashpoint in the Youtube timeline. I think he was the first 'viral' video. Or was that the Numa guy? I seem to remember Newgrounds was one of the first to promote that meme.
I remember watching videos on the internet that I now cherish as art forms today. Like "Leak Spin" "Chirumiru" "Ronald Mcdonald Insanity" "Caramella Dansen" "Mudkip" "Boxxy" "Wii Fit Girl" "Numa numa" "Rainbow Road" And a few more that I forgot at the time of me posting this comment. But Still! It's hard to believe that most, if not, ALL these videos are over 10 years old. Now I feel old just thinking about it. Nowadays it's like "yea, we CAN make more memorable stuff but, We just wanna be trendy." No wonder I watch channels like yours, or listen to vaporwave, or play Nintendo games. Because one thing the internet has less of now, is being WEIRD. EmpLemon you are a bad historian. The whole joke of his video was that he paused when he was talking, and allowed the viewer to make their own inferences as to what the elephants have that is large, and nowhere in your video did you make a mention the joke, which made it seem like you didn't even notice that there even was a joke.
It's amazing to see you branch out like this yet still remain just as funny, clever, thought provoking, and informative in both editing style and subject matter. Your almost up there with Vsause in being so full of ideas to wrap your head around. Good job.
Absolutely love the concept of this Youtube series! Some suggestions on how you can improve is if you go into more detail on who the poster was, the significance of the of the video on the Youtube and cultural landscape. Otherwise, love the concept! I just hope that you can flesh it out into something I would watch back years from now on ^-^
Keep doing this series. It would be interesting... if you continued to create more meta-content on the site and has it has evolved over the years. Doing an analysis of how the site has changed can help people learn about where it may be headed. But also it is just interesting to look back on things like the first youtube video.
Something neat to analyze is how certain creators have risen and fallen in and out of the limelight. Ex: RWJ, TheWhatTheBuckShow, etc. Maybe it's a change in public opinion, maybe some channels were trends.

Dunno if you mentioned it, but I believe that since jawed was a co founder of YouTube, the first video on the site by him was supposed to be a sample video to inspire and give other uploaders ideas.
I find it remarkable how especially shitposters are some of the most crative and interesting people on the internet. Maybe it's because Memes themselves arent creative if simply posted, but work as a playground for the shitposter to expand on. An interesting concept, especially because it works

I think it would be awesome if you did one of these on I'd Say He's Hot on Our Tail. For those of you that don't know, this was the first ever YouTube Poop, which itself was inspired by a cartoon network show.
There seems to be a new type of channel arising. I call it the information breed.
I think it started with Pannenkoek255 or whatever his name was. He exploited Mario 64 and learned ridiculous amounts about its engine. A few others followed in his steps, like glitch videos. Stryder5 was like pannenkoek, but instead exploited the Paper Mario series with a lot more other people. MagicScrumpy is a lesser-known tuber that does Super Mario Sunshine videos too.
It seems EmpLemon's new style has evolved into proper meme-theory and YouTube theory, further popularising this breed of channels. We'll be seeing a lot more videos like these, regardless :3

EmpLemon makes some of my favorite content on YouTube, from his YTPs to these talks. And his use of music from Gran Turismo 4 is pretty much icing on the cake.
This video made me realize something. Remember when Emp had 40,000 subscriber and he said “I’m the fastest growing YTP channel”? Well look at how far he’s come, he made it big, and look at what he did with that power.

I wasn't familiar with me at the zoo and when I saw the title and thumbnail of this video, I thought Emp had started a vlog series. Then I said to myself - he wouldn't stoop that low lol.
The first time the smile died on my face as I watched the Challenger joke 4 years ago on the UNcredibles, I knew EmpLemon was a cultural force to be reckoned with.
This gave me weird nostalgia. A longing for a simpler time. I remember I didn't know of youtube, so I had to go on newgrounds for my entertainment on the web.

A place to pass the time or to reach out to others and share your thoughts and ideas. It took a while for it to become so 'trendy'. The rewards programs for content creators, such as monetization, featured videos, awards for reaching statistical milestones, were years in the making and it was a long time before the average user really cared much about them. The possibility of becoming famous and successful through something like YouTube was a foreign idea and when it started happening people didn't know what to make of it.
Sometimes I wonder if YouTube could have been launched back in the late 90s or early 00s with no problems whatsoever.

I think it started with Pannenkoek255 or whatever his name was. He exploited Mario 64 and learned ridiculous amounts about its engine. A few others followed in his steps, like glitch videos. Stryder5 was like pannenkoek, but instead exploited the Paper Mario series with a lot more other people. MagicScrumpy is a lesser-known tuber that does Super Mario Sunshine videos too.
It seems EmpLemon's new style has evolved into proper meme-theory and YouTube theory, further popularising this breed of channels.
We'll be seeing a lot more videos like these, regardless :3
