Early life
His uncle is Mick MacNeil of Simple Minds, and from the age of 15 he began appearing on Gaelic television. He was later involved in Smash Hits TV, BBC Scotland's '@Ire' and 'Dè a-nis?' as well as BBC Choice's Beyond 2000. He was also head of music for Scottish TV programme, 'Splaoid' and rock music show 'Nochd Gun Chadal'/Career
After ending his career to study journalism, at Edinburgh's Napier University, MacHugh sought to follow the E4 Edinburgh Festival and contributed to the entertainment news on Channel 5. He also filmed highlights for the Scottish TV magazine show "You Have to Do It ...", and appeared on VisitScotland [3] "Tartan Week" in New York for NBC, presenting daily live performances from Grand Central Station during the two-week festival. He also wrote the screenplay and presented a one-off piece for the popular BBC1 show in the countryside "Landward" filmed at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh.//As an actor, MacHugh played protagonist Seumas in the school children's programme SNAS, set around a Scottish rock band. Phil also played James in the BBC drama Think About Lilies. Phil is also a tall dancer. He has participated in promotions of VisitScotland and Glasgow City Council at international Celtic festivals around the world, and in November 2007 he worked for the Lithuanian Television Network, LNK and entrepreneur Vladimir Romanov in the Baltic version of the popular TV show Strictly Come Dancing as creative director. Vladimir won the celebrity dance competition.in 2013. He joined the Yes Campaign movement as a PR and event manager to run a commercial campaign for Independent Scotland. After that, in 2016, he founded SKAPA, which specializes in consumer relations, lifestyle and luxury brands and brand building.
