We had a user that knew just enough to be dangerous set a bio's password, remove all boot options, forget the password, then Accidentally wipe their OS drive. After 3 techs attempts to reinstall windows and a phone call with Lenovo support they told us the only option was to get the motherboard replaced as there was no way to remove the bios password without knowing the bios password. Was there some other solution such as reinstall windows on another device and swap the drive? Maybe, but by this point the end user already put in a PO for new laptop lol

@ytxzw it is indeed not 1995, which means that you can buy a $20 Arduino and use it to program a non password locked bios version onto the bios chip (don't forget 5v Arduino can't directly work with 3.3v chips). And if you are struggling with it you can use the internet to find all the information that you could possibly need, (because in 2024 we have internet) like that the chip is (usually) SPI, very common, probably standard, can be ordered for less than $10 and has public datasheets (documentation that fully describes how the device functions) everywhere. Also windows is so insecure that you can take the data disk out of your "safe" device and plug it into another one as a secondary drive. Your data is now available without any password. This is something that can easily be prevented using disk encryption, but I've never seen windows mention, let alone reccomend it. This is a problem because windows is used on laptops and anyone can steal those, allowing anyone to look at your data. Stop being childish and accept not only that you are not a security aware individual, but also have no idea about the hardware of the systems you use. If you knew anything about bios hardware you would know that those passwords are trivial to bypass.

The requirement to login with a Microsoft account could be related to the build being an insider preview, Microsoft accounts are required on those builds if memory serves. So it could be worth having a quick look at a normal 22621 build of SE.

That was kinda interesting, i wonder if there might be another way of doing this without all the manual workforce, maybe the cmd is disabled but you can try doing scripting with something else and overwriting the values directly from the os itself, maybe with wsl (if you can even install it) or with inf files (there's a chance that the protection is there for only a set of apps so if you can override one of those apps with your own maybe you can do interesting things there.

it might be harder to do once a device is actually intuned provisioned and managed. Creating a local account on an OS edition that will probably never support doing that feels like cheating in my book. I think machines running Windows 11 SE will be already set up by most schools before they get handed out to students.

The E in "SE" Stands for "Education", which means that this was supposed to be called "Windows 11 S Education", but they decided to call it "Windows 11 SE".
Yeah the schools are going to be flooded by this exploit. Literally plug in a recovery flash drive, boot into recovery and select another device (the drive), delete the policies on the EFI partition, and reboot. Then get yourself admin via sethc from the flash drive, winaero tweaker disable not being allowed to go on to the C: drive, and done!
Protip: the download utilty used in the script (invoke-webrequest) has a bug that makes downloads slower than they need to be. Fix it by disabling the progress bar.

Actually E mode came in Windows 11 Pro to me i cant even disable it and it says Windows 11 Pro in S Mode but the ms-store says im not running S Mode???? Plus, SKUPolicyRequired is disabled and there is no way to disable The mode without this method
I had Windows 11 SE ISO a long time ago. I do not remember what build it is, but it is an oldest build that i have found. Also, the problem with apps still working was in the oldest build, too, but it had included fix file in the ISO, which turned on "E mode". The Drive C:/ modification is disabled after signing in to microsoft account. Anyways, good video!

In normal Windows 11 if you type "a" as the username and password for a Microsoft account it fails and lets you create a local account, at least that's what I've been doing for quite some time, maybe it works here too?

3. at the very end of premiere, i talked about how do you (not enderman specifically) think that windows rt can run system components such as internet explorer, explorer, legacy calculator (if it does have) and notepad if running non uwp exes are not allowed? 4 likesThat was kinda interesting, i wonder if there might be another way of doing this without all the manual workforce, maybe the cmd is disabled but you can try doing scripting with something else and overwriting the values directly from the os itself, maybe with wsl (if you can even install it) or with inf files (there's a chance that the protection is there for only a set of apps so if you can override one of those apps with your own maybe you can do interesting things there.

Also, the problem with apps still working was in the oldest build, too, but it had included fix file in the ISO, which turned on "E mode". The Drive C:/ modification is disabled after signing in to microsoft account. Anyways, good video!
