Hands biography.year A short-lived symphony American band from Texas whose sound was compared to GENTLE GIANT, JETHRO TULL and HAPPY THE MAN, as well as the inevitable nod to early KANSAS, HANDS were actually off-shoot of the even more obscure rock/fusion project PRISM.
The band used a wide range of orchestral instruments, including strings and woodwinds, and their songs were characterized by long instrumental passages and mild, space vocals, although much like the KANSAS band would often include blues-influenced music such as JOHNNY WINTERS and ALLMAN in their live performances
BROTHERS. Like many progressive American bands in the last 1970s, HANDS toured extensively and managed to release a studio album with a smaller record label, but failed to attract much attention and quietly fell apart as the decade drew to a close.
In 1996, Shroom Records published a collection of early recordings of the band on CD that was critically acclaimed but had little commercial
impact. The label also re-released the band's lone studio album from 1977. On the strength of this reissue, the band reformed with little change in lineup and began touring, eventually releasing a studio album of new material in 2001 ("Twenty-Five Winters"). The band still performs today, and since the fall of 2006 they have been finishing production on the third studio album tentatively titled "Strangelet".
HANDS deserve recognition in the Archives for the very recognizable prog folk sound in the vein of so many American bands in the 1970s and the revival of that sound with a new lineup in the twenty-first century.......

Le groupe se produit encore aujourd’hui, et depuis l’automne 2006, ils ont terminé la production du troisième album studio provisoirement intitulé « Strangelet ».
HANDS mérite d’être reconnu dans les Archives pour le son folk prog très reconnaissable dans la veine de tant de groupes américains dans les années 1970 et la renaissance de ce son avec une nouvelle gamme au XXIe siècle.......
