I used to call those "Glass folders" when I was a kid... Until my dad replaced Vista for XP (because Vista was hot trash back then).
Fun fact: some Vista icons (and even old 9x-era icons) are still hidden in the files, at least in Win7. When changing icons, try loading from SHELL32.dll or imageres.dll. I found Vista's "glass folder" icon there :)

Not gonna lie, Chief. If I wanted a flat theme, I'd go for the classic Win 95-2000 theme. Not some fancy-ass corporate style that nobody likes. Either give me the classic look, Luna (preferrably the unreleased Watercolor theme) or Aero, Goddammit! Windows 10 in general is just a clusterfuck, I hate it so much. @@MaoTao I agree with you. Graphics keep getting better, and Aero Glass demonstrated that well, but Microsoft removed it in 8+... Why dumb down graphics to simple solid colors with basically no transparency? That doesn't accurately represent how good modern graphics can look.
I'd accept it only if they allowed that transparency used in Action Center and the start menu. That's seemingly the Aero Glass successor (that or Acrylic), so why not let users use that for their window titles?

Vista was actually a great OS with the Aero glass theme. It "failed" only bc it supported newer hardware that the majority of the people didn't have at the time. U could run it with old hardware, but it was slow af.
@@_ryukora nah it was very popular it's a common misconception, same with ME people just look at the sales figures, without considering the window of time that they were sold in compared to OSes with lots of sales like XP (ME was literally the latest only for a year, replaced by XP, which was the latest for six years, with Vista then only being the latest for two, with 7 being the latest for three, but still remaining attractive to this day due to it not having 8s Metro UI or 10s bugginess)
Exetior The opposite is true for me. 8.1 is easier to skin to Vista than 10, due to having the Windows 7 buttons. 10 has those giant ass buttons and now file explorer is ruined with that hideous giant search and address bar with very inconsistent context menus. Unacceptable.

The flat design is strangely appealing, even though it looks like the most lazy thing ever created. Good old Aero is where it's at tho. Gotta love that shiny lookin' almost 3D-like design.
Edit: I found that if you first activate the Aero Lite theme (which unfortunately looks nothing like Aero) and then the custom Vista theme it looks a bit better (tho I used the Aero 6000 theme which is meant for Win7).
@@hopelesssoap I'll be so cheeky and mix something up: For my part, I use Windows 7 and have modified it a bit in terms of the startup sequence, icons, start menu and taskbar. actually too Windows Explorer just to get as close to Visa as possible, and what can I say, I succeeded. even the entire start menu of vista, which is different and cooler due to the shutdown and lock buttons. However, I didn't download anything from the internet, I did everything all by myself and without help. Well, I needed a little help from tutorials, but psst, please don't tell anyone...

@@hopelesssoap There is the AeroGlass program which adds transparency. I saw some YouTuber use Windows 10 with a Vista theme that has all that stuff in the Explorer, but no links to it we're given since the video unrelated to that stuff.

Alright, let's just say I was playing around with the original Windows Vista Starter recovery disk that came with my computer, when my dad bought it 13 years ago...
And, I accidentally overwrited Windows 7 Ultimate and put Windows Vista Starter in place... It wasn't entirely my fault, though. The motherfucking programmer who burned the disc thought that getting rid of all the steps (like: Do you want to format your hard drive?) and making them automatic would be a great idea. As soon as the "Installing Windows" screen popped up, I immediately closed it and restarted, but the HDD had already been overwritten. Soooo, I had no choice but to proceed. Unfortunately, it seems it can't connect to the Internet, says some stuff about drivers.

At 3:23, there’s actually no point in changing the startup sound to the windows vista sound, because the windows vista sound is actually windows 10’s startup sound, disabled by default. To enable the sound you have to go to the sound properties dialogue in the control panel. There, you will see a checkbox which says, “Play windows startup sound”. Tick the checkbox, and that’s it. Also, there is a windows shutdown.wav file in the c:\windows\media folder, with which you could use this startup sound changer, so there’s really no point in downloading the windows vista startup sound, as it is already in the media folder.
if you run command prompt as admin and put in bcdedit -set {default} graphicsmodedisabled yes ,it will replace windows 10 boot screen with vista boot screen. And to revert back to the original Windows 10/11 boot screen ,just type the same command except replace 'yes' with 'no'.

It's a dang FusionCore, which installs random potentially unwanted applications.. Every antivirus detected it, tried it on a virtual machine months later the virtual machine has gone NUTS while i didn't corrupt any, only the skin pack was installed also.
@@kraxer8352 Did you know that avast HEAVILY slows down the OS? I would recommend ESET Security or other antiviruses like that that is super lightweight and reliable

Didn't mind Vista back when it was current, my pc back then was too crappy to run anything more than an ultra tweaked XP. When I had enough money to build a decent pc, 7 was just around the corner.
But nowdays, I'm really liking Vista UI. Maybe I'll try to apply this to my current Windows 10 pc.
I would recommend open shell instead of classic shell as the creator of classic shell has discontinued it. Vs open shell which the newest release was only about 2 months ago. And is open source so pretty active development.
Another way to do the taskbar (still need classic/openshell for start menu) is retrobar, they have windows vista aero, basic, and classic taskbar themes!
iirc skinpack doesn't provide the "modded" uxtheme files. UltraUXThemePatcher still works on every windows 10 version (even insider builds), the dev (Manuel Hoefs) still hosts the site with frequent updates. recommend you try installing it and then trying it out, tho any major windows update can cause you to be unable to boot to the desktop (unless you go into safe mode, uninstall it and then reboot then install it again or a newer version).

Can windowblinds themes be applied after this pack is installed? the issue i have when using a theme on win10 is that the taskbar is too thick, or if there's a transparent spot, it's darker than the rest of the wallpaper (like a transparency that isn't 100% transparent). example, aero frost on wincustomize.
to Make it more like Vista, Install 8GadgetPack and follow half of WinClient5270 tutorial of transform 8.1 to Vista to get Vista Sidebar on it. (the shitty bundled one looks almost like SHIT) [Or use 8GadgetPack if You are Lazy] Install a Cracked AeroGlass from Pirate Bay and UxThemePatcher on it. Use StartIsBack++ instead since its smoother. Watch some WinClient5270 to get the Vista Start Menu aswell. Unlock hidden Quick Launch.
Dont install this! As soon as I installed this a message from windows defender said that there is a bad file and I got scared and immediately deleted the the program and it did not pop up again. I am still worried about the safety of my computer!
Enderman a question you know that classic shell hooks to the taskbar and I'm sure you know about true transparency. Do you know of any program that can either hook the window manager to set a custom skin or a program like truetransparency to remove and replace the border with itself? But a program that works with DWM and windows 10?

@@rafal06 The Start Screen wallpaper is shown in Windows 10, it's what you set on your desktop. In Windows 8.x, the desktop was only meant to be there for legacy purpose, and wasn't intended to be the way to use stuff day to day. But Windows 8 Metro was more optimized for tablet than a desktop with just mouse. Horizontal scrolling, subjective, but even Windows Phone 8.1, the Start Screen was meant to scroll vertically. Windows 10 all around was trying to make this all feel more like Windows Phone. Just you can't at least have the swipe to right gesture to go to All Apps like even Windows 10 Mobile or even Windows Phone 8.1 had.
@@TheComputerNerd It isn't the same start screen as in Windows 8.1. For example, you can't set diffrent wallpaper on it. And in Windows 10 start menu is scrolling veritcally, instead of horizontally like in 8.1.
It's basically there already, when you turn off the transparency, and turn on colored title bars. Also, you can turn on full screen Start Menu. Windows 10 didnt change too much, but slightly evolve from Windows 8 Metro style.
@@frostyjeff well, the installer also had malware and stuff on it. The installer had like 2 more boxes of unwanted programs that I didn't know of and when I installed it I had to scan my computer multiple times to get rid of all the junk and uninstall programs

106 likesEdit: I found that if you first activate the Aero Lite theme (which unfortunately looks nothing like Aero) and then the custom Vista theme it looks a bit better (tho I used the Aero 6000 theme which is meant for Win7).

The motherfucking programmer who burned the disc thought that getting rid of all the steps (like: Do you want to format your hard drive?) and making them automatic would be a great idea. As soon as the "Installing Windows" screen popped up, I immediately closed it and restarted, but the HDD had already been overwritten. Soooo, I had no choice but to proceed. Unfortunately, it seems it can't connect to the Internet, says some stuff about drivers.

To enable the sound you have to go to the sound properties dialogue in the control panel. There, you will see a checkbox which says, “Play windows startup sound”. Tick the checkbox, and that’s it.

@@kraxer8352 i dont recommend avast, in the 2018 (I DOWNLOADED OFFICIAL VERSION OF OFFICIAL SITE) when i try to scan it, it keeps telling me you need a vpn and you need to pay to resolve, so i did a vpn, downloaded it AND SCREWED UP MY PC, WRECKING IT CPU AND GPU making every single tab not responding, even windows, it even said (windows.exe is not responding) making the os crash

1 likeiirc skinpack doesn't provide the "modded" uxtheme files. UltraUXThemePatcher still works on every windows 10 version (even insider builds), the dev (Manuel Hoefs) still hosts the site with frequent updates. recommend you try installing it and then trying it out, tho any major windows update can cause you to be unable to boot to the desktop (unless you go into safe mode, uninstall it and then reboot then install it again or a newer version).

@@rafal06 The Start Screen wallpaper is shown in Windows 10, it's what you set on your desktop. In Windows 8.x, the desktop was only meant to be there for legacy purpose, and wasn't intended to be the way to use stuff day to day. But Windows 8 Metro was more optimized for tablet than a desktop with just mouse. Horizontal scrolling, subjective, but even Windows Phone 8.1, the Start Screen was meant to scroll vertically. Windows 10 all around was trying to make this all feel more like Windows Phone. Just you can't at least have the swipe to right gesture to go to All Apps like even Windows 10 Mobile or even Windows Phone 8.1 had.

I am sure a lot of Vista users wanted to disable the Sidebar, so is this bringing back things for the sake of making a frankenstein and not for the sake of making something actually useable or what?
