It's nice to have Aang have a living touchstone to his prior life, someone a small child in Aang's past, but now cripplingly old, 108 years I'd bet given the significance of the number 108 in mythology. Prior episodes had him accept "everyone I loved is dead", but with the secondary punch of "but not of old age, instead, it was war". So this episode shortly afterwards balms the emotive wound, with a very bittersweet situation: He still has someone he knew who, if he succeeds, will get to die of old age instead of war, though, sadly for Aang (and Bumi), the overall time difference between the two isn't likely too long. But to get a happy ending for Bumi and his people, he's now on a clock.
This was one of my favorites. Also Aang has to master the element in a certain order. He has master water bending first, THEN earth, then fire. You'll learn later on that there's a reason for this method.
Bumi is quite the oddball, but he sure still has his wits when meeting Aang again in so long. He’s eccentric and wise at the same time both as a kid and an adult.
Awesome reaction PonyBro, was busy for a while but finally got to watching your Avatar reactions and binged them in a day. This is an amazing show and one that I think is better than MLP although less feels for me. Looking forward to the next reaction.
You know I’m shocked. You’re usually pretty good at guessing the plot twists in these things. I am surprised that you didn’t guess who the King was in the first 10 minutes…lol. I guess it just proves that you’re not infallible. Well, I suppose everybody has an off day once in awhile.
Aang needs to learn the four elements in order of the cycle, so he has learnt how to bend Air already, he now needs to learn water as the next in sequence. Then he needs to learn earth, and finally fire. So Aang needs to find a waterbending master an earthbending master, and a firebending master and a firebending master is going to be very hard to find.
The previous avatars before him were Avatar Roku of the fire nation, avatar Kyoshi of the earth kingdom, and avatar Kurik of the water tribe (possibly of the northern water tribe). Roku lived about 70 years before he died, saving a village, avatar Kyoshi died after 370 years, Not sure how she died and avatar, Kirik only lived about 40 years or so, and I don’t know how he died.
Anyway, I’m glad you’re enjoying the show. It’ll only get better from here little bit of advice, some reactors, I’ve seen actually have a notebook and take Notes for their reference.

3 likesBumi is a great character! He reminds me of Rafiki from The Lion King, being able to crack jokes, offering wisdom, and being an excellent fighter too.

@@SpacialRend7 Thanks, I always wondered where that came from.
1 like@@Narrator007 the “my leg” guy, since Spongebob came out seven years before Avatar.
1 likeWhich came first, the "My leg!" guy, or the "My cabbages!" guy?
