.......During the difficult years of dictatorship in Greece (1967-1974), a band was formed that was originally Morka. This group, founded in late 1970 by John Jungemann and Dorian Kokas, was called Stone Deep. He set the trend for the basic characteristics of Morka, which was a four-piece harmonious composition.
Stone Deep consisted of a group of fellow students at the ACS (American Community School). They released a privately pressed single featuring the mild electric folk songs "Winter's here" and "Judy."
Dorian Kokas and Mike Moraitis founded Morka after other Stone Deep members returned to their homes in the US. The name MORKA comes from MORaitis-KokAs, and the duet continued the tradition of melody and harmonies, adding more psychedelic tones.
At the end of 1971, Polydor released a 33-rpm EP that is also Stone Deep songs, as well as two songs of the new duet: "I See" and "She's Quiet." For these songs, German drummer Reiner Ratheo is like a lightning session. All four songs are covers under the guinea fowl of Morka.
The same year, after Moraitis left, Kokas was named Morka, living alongside orphans Michalis, George Tambre, Antonis Bravos, Paul Papadeas and Pamela Leake. With this lineup Morka has become a kingdom in public and we are going to prosciutto in prosciutto direction. They were blurry in the Athens hours and endless gigs with other bands of the Greek underground scene.
The year 1972, the single "Giati? (=Why?) / And so it flies," Polydor also said. The first song was a solitary attempt by American, Igur and English dishes to shine in Greek.
In the first weeks of 1973, Morka's marijuana demo-tapeding was more mature, still gracious of the category of their mild psychedelic folk roots, but the Uya musical style. No lick, Morka was ahead of his time.
After this recording, the band broke up, a catatura of Greek rock bands of the time. Demo material has never been given.
The year 1986 saw a transitory reform of Morke's core lineup of Kokas and Orphanides and Leake. The recordings are another demo and then came a debauchery of the split.2006. and Anazitisi Records, officially released all recordings of Morka in a banned, 400-release, vinyl album titled "It Was Time...".
