MightyFine Sample Animation - Ruby Gloom

As an old fan of the show, I find this extremely hilarious.

I feel like Ruby's personality was more like Mandy's from Grim Adventure with Billy and Mandy.

skull boy is about the same as always though

Just binged the show for the first time on Tubi and loved it, this short holds up really well.

BTW, the characters are supposed to be slightly "out-of-character" for irony's sake--I'm hoping most people recognize that fact...maybe we didn't have good conveyance. Either way, I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out, for sure :)

So happy this has finally been released and I can share it with everyone! :D Congrats to all involved -- this was so much fun!

If Ruby Gloom was still airing and it aired on the Hub Network I don't think I'd ever leave the channel given that ponies are thre too. XD

I swear watching this is such a trip especially with how kinda obscure Ruby Gloom is these days and especially the fact that it’s an angry birds parody too.

Honestly it’s really good almost 10 years later. Animation to voice acting.

As for the character thing, I kinda figured it’d be this way with it all being a “parody” to begin with. So Ruby acting like this is reasonable. Once again, amazing work overall. 😊

Thanks for doing this animation. I actually do believe that if one doesn't do something non-pony once in a while, they'll forget how great the fanbase and the show really is, and how much they truly stand out.

This animation actually introduced me to Ruby Gloom. I only have one thing to say to you: THANK YOU.

As a huge fan of both MLP and Ruby Gloom I thought this was amazing! My only concern as a nitpicker is that Ruby is always too cheerful to be insulting people (but again a minor quibble). Keep up the great work!

I marathoned it on Netflix, sometimes it borderlined on eerily unsettling and deadpan. As if to say that this all somehow took place in Ruby's purgatory, but as she was hardly anything but a kind child in her mortality, her purgatory is destined to have the appearance of a doomed afterlife, but filled with friendly companions. This subtle creeping realization made the entire atmosphere sort of sadistic and kinda cool.

I actually heard about this show when people compared the art design of MLP to this. From what few episodes I've seen of Ruby Gloom, it's actually pretty good. It's a shame it didn't get too much air time.

The animation is great. I remember seeing a few episodes of it on TV (german dubbed version) and liked it a lot. Too bad it never got the success it imho deserved.

This came on in my native of country of Canada, if they aired it in the states I'm pretty sure it would be insanely popular too. Plus the episodes are on YouTube and can be purchased on netflix.

I find it so cool that MandoPony is voicing Skull Boy. I actually didn't mind the show when I was younger.

I love how the characters are different to the original cs. Rube is normally sweet, supporting and kind, here she's honest and rude. Also I love Po swearing XD

...Yeah Ruby is EXTREMELY out of character. She's supposed to be the nicer character in the show, she was even labeled "Happiest Girl in the World". In this, she literally calls Skull Boy an idiot. I mean everything else is amazing, voice acting, (I mean Ruby's a bit off) animation, it's great. But Ruby's off, just saying.

I thought that the characters in this seemed "out of character" (mostly in Ruby's case), but I did like the animation style as a whole. It made for a rather nice reference as well. Maybe it would have been better if it were Iris or Misery talking to Skullboy instead of Ruby. All in all, I thank you for taking the time to share this with us all. Keep up the nice work.

Short and hilarious I love it. And yes ponies are awesome, but they don't have to be in every video.

This clip needs more Iris XD Also, Ruby looked unusually cynical here, unlike her depiction in the show. And the voices are a bit unlike what I was used to in the original cartoon. The dialogue didn't feel like it came from Ruby Gloom. But ! Other then that, I love the idea behind it, as wella s the aniamtion, and the fact that its a Ruby Gloom short ! Thanks for doing this, and here's hoping another Gloom short happens ! (this time with Iris XD )

Do any of you think this show had any hidden lore, doesn't it feel like theres more to this show then just what meets the eye? As A kid (I was 13 when this show was airing, but still) I always felt like there was something seriously off, whenever I watched it I always felt like it was trying to hint at something I couldn't see. I really gotta rewatch this show sometime and i'm gonna take notes of anything that seems off.

It's great to see your ability to transition from pony works so well. Not to say that the pony stuff wasn't amazing too.

unexpected, but I remember this show...it came up in my early teens, and was kinda interesting for it's temporary run. surprised some people remember it.

In terms of closeness to the original VA's, Poe, Skullboy, the Ruby. Also OOC Ruby being more Mandy-like? Show's awesome. Watching it on Netflix. The only scenario where I can say I like Misery.

Nice work with Skullboy, Mando. Also, really clever idea for the whole thing. Kudos!

Holy crap, I've been watching this show for like, the last 3 days, it's awesome!

This is pretty good. The dialogue doesn't exactly match what I think the characters would say but it's well animated and entertaining nonetheless.

I know what people are going to say, so I'll just put this beforehand: NOT EVERYTHING NOMORETHAN9 DOES HAS TO BE PONIES. People like different things. Bronies like different things. One thing you like is MLP, and you like other things too. That's not a contradiction, nothing is wrong with it. So as it goes, love, tolerate, and appriciate! Besides, it's a good animation regardless. <3

Ah Ruby Gloom, truly what would happen if MLP was handed to Tim Burton. Think about it:

Ruby's like Twilight Sparkle if she was given a dash of Pinkie Pie, Misery is a more upbeat version of Pinkie's opposite state, Iris is Rainbow Dash with Pinkie Pie's logic, Skull Boy's Spike with an identity crisis, Frank and Len are Snips and Snails if they were a credible duo and Poe....well you got me, but I bet it's probably Prince Blueblood.

But that doesn't mean it's a bad show. Far from it! The characters are adorable/likable, the animation's surprisingly good for 2006 and the voice acting..while hit and miss at times is great on its own. Particular favorites include Sarah Gadon as Ruby (a.k.a. Beth from Total Drama) and Scott McCord as Skull Boy (of both Owen and Trent from Total Drama and Dan from Bakugan fame).

The actress who was voicing Ruby made her out to be too much like Mandy. The Ruby from the original cartoon is actually a lot more jovial and optimistic, so I felt the voice work was out of place. I suspect some of the people who did the short may have not watched the original cartoon (keyword: some) but, its cool.

yes MLP has some of the best animation quality in the medium today but thats far from the only reason its a good show it also has alot of character direction great plots (both kinds) and genuine humour take note im not saying ruby gloom hasnt i mean i loved ruby gloom before MLP came along but MLP i fell has more of it, mostly in the character arch then anything else....im hungry im gonna go make a sandwhich maybe with a cup of tea..........Bye.

Yes, I'm annoyed to those who say something pony-related even though it has nothing to do with MLP:FIM at all, but this is the only non-pony related video he made so far.
