[1.12] How to get the Bedrock Item

Just a quick note for tech servers doing this - the gateway finding tool tells you chunks that will spawn a portal if you savestate them then generate and populate them on their own. Just going to the coordinates is not enough. Furthermore the tool doesn't check if the island height at the coordinates is over 40 blocks, so some coords may not work. I'd recommend testing any locations you want to use on a copy of the seed before trying this in survival, which can be done by teleporting to the chunk with saving off, slapping down a savestate, and running a save all and reloading the chunks. If a gateway doesn't spawn you'll have to try another location.

oh there should be more.. , Maybe finding the best chunk that holds the most amount of netherite or diamond etc in a seed , or the rarest chest loot tables in a seed (e.g all desert temple chests having enchanted apple while also the structure being fairly close) , there could be alot more til we can't find something to do

Is it really not farmable? Can't you use the same trick with the shulker boxes of books to continuously have the newly populated chunks (with the end gateway) not saved?

@Rubikraft You can, but getting a stack of bedrock would take probably tens of hours. It's definitely not worth the time imo.

@Jackson Percy Are you sure about this? Because if I remember correctly everything that has been said, you "only" need to reset the budded rails, light the netherrack, place the slime block, place the minecart. And be careful about the autosaves of the server.
The lag machine would still work, the enderpearl cannon as well.
I don't think it could be afk-ed (or mabe with a "sophisticated" clicking script), but still, that doesn"t seem to be too long to get a stack. Maybe 2-3 hours once the setup is built. Once you spent all the effort to build all the setup, the difficult is definitely done.

It depends what you personaly consider is "legit" and what is closer to "cheating"; I would be prouder to have a stack of bedrock without duping "for the achievement", and maybe a double chest of it obtained with duping, for everyday uses.

@Rubikraft If it was as fast as getting bedrock on bedrock edition then I would be against duping, but because there's a much higher demand than the java farming could supply in a reasonable amount of time then I think it's fine. We're not immortal, time is valuable.

As I said, the cursor between legit and cheat is totally personal, so there is yours, and it is fine like that, mine is slightly different.
In mine, I dupe non renewable items only but it's only because in my server we agreed that we want an experience as close of vanilla as possible and we don't consider duping a vanilla experience but something that we have to use because Mojang did not offer proper alternatives; however, one can argue that using unintended features of the game, like savestates or lag machines, makes the bedrock block cheaty (I don't).

And if time is valuable, I suppose that you probably don't play Minecraft at all, and I am surprised that you are even watching this video ;-) I'm kidding, I'm teasing you, but I hope you understand that everyone wastes his/her time, we human people are only able to choose how. In a less pessimistic way: everyone is free to choose how they want to use/waste their time.
For instance I think that spending time finding more than one heart of the see is wasting time. Some people have multiple hearts of the see! And that's fine, even more in a game in which everybody is free to define hir/her own goals.

@Jonny595 28.8 hours at 30 s/bedrock. 57.6 hours at 60 s/bedrock. So roughly 1 hour for ever second you think it takes to get a single bedrock.

(itemsPerDoubleChest * bedrockMiningPeriod)/(3600 s/h) = 28.8 hours;

Now you don't have to imagine the pain XD

The books in the shulkers have to much data in them for the game to save it all so it just doesn't save anything in that chunk.

You're correct, it is easier in singleplayer because that particular anti-cheat check doesn't apply. And yep the second player is there to load chunks.

What would be needed to replicate the chunk loading? Hopper loaders, or a perma loader, or something else?

and with xcoms thing just offload tnt into unloaded chunks

I actually thought about that moment. It looked like that bug that he accidentally awoken could be used to mine bedrock. And it seems that the concept in this video uses something similar. I might be wrong though.

It was actually infested stone blocks. In Java, silverfish infested blocks break instantly (it's still really quick with a shovel) and if you have silk touch, it drops the non infested block item for some reason. And infested stone block veins spawn in mountain biomes.

in 1.12 the only way to drop bedrock item is by player mining with silk touch
you will have to make the dragon kill related to player mining somehow

You would have to get a player at the position of the to-be-generated end gateway. And the gateway would have to generate at the specific position, which is possible. But you have to connect a player going through the portal with the player mining the block and extinguishing the fire. And it would have to happen in the same tick. Also might not be possible because of wrong order (player mines the block, same tick but later, player has to go through portal). The timing is ridiculous and not possible without macros even if the order is correct.

The main issue with using those gateways is that, as I said in the video, you need to somehow get the extinguishing of the fire to cause the placement of the bedrock. I'm not sure whether that's possible with those types of gateways.

@Earthcomputer maybe get the dragon down to 1 health.make a machine that syncs the dragon death with an iron trap door opening.

The iron trap door is between the player and the fire that has to be extinguished.

Of course it won't be at the same time but the tick offset is calculable.

Everybody plz note the fact that I said that i meant the OUTER ring of end gateways, the ones that the inner ones take you to. So plz no comments about killing the dragon because those generate after someone goes through the gateway, and it is not related at all to the killing of the dragon. Again, great video Earth, and keep making these revolutionary discoveries!

Edit: I just wanted to maybe suggest that idea because I don’t like that I have to manually find out what kind of stress my server can handle, not because I want to be rude or anything.

You have to trigger the gateway generating excactly after you extinguish the fire, but not too late either. Highly doubt that is possible.

Its doable. Ray works has a dragon cage. Weaken the monster down to one hit. and time the last hit with a redstone machine.

@Leandro Torrez Cianferoni did u understand the point of the video? You dont have to only time gt precise, thats easy to do (rays works wouldnt be my option, never4get would be better ig). The problem is that you have to swap the code in between very few lines of code. This means you will still have to use the fire and that fire will have to instantly kill the dragon. (Oh and btw does endgateway generate instantly or end of animation)

I have doubts that even if you could kill the dragon the instant the fire is extinguished, it would work. The dragon animation is incremented and finished in the entity phase.

@Earthcomputer The bedrock in the end portal can get replaced at 3 different moments, when the dragon dies, when the end crystals are placed to resummon the dragon, and if you break one of the crystals before the dragon is finished being resummoned. I tried using a setup that would explode an end crystal when I broke a fire block, but I couldn't quite get it to work. Maybe you have some insight on this. If this can work, it means that it would be possible to get bedrock in versions as recent as 1.15

Yeah, I recorded with a Forge client and a carpet server for convenience, but the whole thing was also tested on a vanilla client + server off camera.
