I think you should go all out with a concept for ur debut album! While I have enjoyed a lot of ur music, I never really got into the project as much as I did the singles. I think that’s because they were made separately, without the intent of being on the same project. I just heard IGOR by Tyler the Creator (check it out btw, great album) and its cohesiveness and strong narrative (among other things) really solidified it as one of my favorite albums in recent memory. I believe you have IMMENSE potential and a project by you with a narrative or a concept would be beyond astounding. As for the songs you have right now, maybe put them on another EP? Or release them as singles while you work on the album? I would love to hear them, but I think your debut album should (and could be) something really special, so putting songs on their that weren’t made for it wouldn’t be the best move imo. Regardless of what you end up going with , I’m very eager to hear what you have cooking up!

I know I'm way too late to the party but my current projects are: writing my first (!) novel, getting ready for the new uni semester (halfway through my degree baby), get a job, learn how to take better care of myself (both mentally and physically, I'm also doing a low carb diet which has helped!) and try to listen to as much music made by women as I can <3 hope everyone reading this is well and accomplishes their projects and goals xx

Hello! I've been working on writing my first novel for the last five or six years. I think I have finally settled on a version of the story though, which is really cool. It's come really far since I started it and has changed A LOT. But that's cool.
I'm also working on writing my second piece of music written for an entire band which is really exciting. I love looking back at all my older stuff and seeing how far I've grown. Especially my first one. It's cute but it's not INTERESTING like my new stuff is I think I wrote my first one more trying to please other people than to please myself which was a MISTAKE. My newest music that I've been writing is definitely more me. And I love getting the reactions out of my band teacher for them because they are so unique to me. I do some weird things with music.

The projects I've been working on.. I've been making a new fairy costume for work and future "side hustle" circus performance gigs. It's been distracting me from the fact that I'm a little sad and uninspired with writing songs at the moment..perhaps because I'm overwhelmed with nearing the end of my Bachelor Degree in Music Performance and I have an orchestral composition on Sibelius to hand in that was due 2 weeks ago. speaking of that I'm gonna do that now wish me luck I'm rubbish at music theory lol. i mean no! i can do this! uhhhhhh!!!

Big project at the moment is performing in the fringe festival in a play I wrote (aaah!!) and bigger project is learning to adjust to a new normal after a significant health issue. Plus trying to keep myself sane during all of this, and figuring out how to be honest w myself abt what I’m capable of (& what I am not)

Put together the songs that make you happy regardless of theme or narrative or link. At the end of the day your happiness is what matters the most and if you're not going to feel happy compromising songs so they fit a certain theme it's not worth it. We will listen to everything you put out when you decide to put it out regardless because you're an amazing human being 💜

i've spent the last 3 weeks making my boyfriends birthday present which includes a homemade mask from his favorite video game Persona. I made the card look like what they have in the game and i'm currently making the box i'm putting the mask in to match the black red and white theme. It's super rewarding doing special things for the people you love in your life. Try it some time <3

I just got done with my last final exam and now I actually have a good amount of time to apply to music. My main goals for the summer are to start doing open mics, make more videos, improve my bass, trumpet, and banjo playing, and get better at mixing. Beyond that, I'll just try to hang out with friends more because that's always important.

If some songs work to a theme and some don't, why not split the album in halves, like and A-side, B-side sort of thing.

Have the first half work to a theme and the second half just be all the other songs you wanted to include.

There doesn't need to be a clear break or even two separate discs for physical copies but it might help organise it a little and still let you include the tracks you'd like to.

My project is revising for my GCSEs, but also practicing my lines and songs for a show I’m in, and more internally I’m learning to live with my neurological differences and declining mental health

i’ve been composing an cappella arrangement of “uptown girl” for my high school a cappella group for the past few months! music is my way of coping, so i’ve been trying to keep myself immersed in it lately to stay afloat :)

i also got new, really cute, clear, round prescription glasses and i love them! a change of style is always fun! <3

So in my life right now I just got a promotion at work and now I’m a manager but in the three weeks so far my closest friend in the city who worked with me tried to get me in trouble with my boss and then quit and basically Guiltless is getting me through the end of this friendship so thank you.

But I love my new role and mostly people have been really great about it and I’m working on all my other friendships more so thank you♥️

I'm a just turned 24 year old who's been watching you for a long long time, like before you were living with Jamie in Bath. My project has been ongoing since February 2018 and has finally completed literally today... I bought a house! No more rent ever and I can decorate to my heart's content!

I am working on my bachelors degree in ceramics, to do this I had to quit my job, move out of my parents house, move 6 hours away and keep pushing forward. My short term projects right now are not going back to my ex (which I very good at unfortunately), keeping up at university, getting back to doing yoga on a daily basis and keeping my room clean. Long term projects: to take care of my body and the environment.

PRO TIP TO MAKE YOUR BED! Rather than get out of bed and try make it from there, make it when you[re still lying down! Maybe that sounds weird but if you just make yourself flat and grab the duvet either side of you and then throw it up and gently land it across you nice and flat, then you just geeeently slide out from under the duvet keeping it neat and tidy :) the day I discovered this technique marks the day I started making my bed every single day! I mean come one! You get to do a chore and lie down at the same time! No excuses! Haha :D

-climbing out of an emotional hole i dug for myself (whoops)
-helping to plan for my high school graduation
-two fun but difficult classes (as well as concert band, concert choir, and a vocal jazz ensemble that are also technically "classes")
-working so that i can have money to pay for university
-still trying to do some sort of personal music project because i can't get enough music apparently
-applying to (volunteer) work at a summer camp

Well, uh, you wanna know one of my projects at the moment. Its kinda uh, personal, but i trust you guys. Since February i've been working on a fanfiction that i wanna give to the person who created the original thing if i meet them in my life, thanks for listening.

I know the YouTube comment section probably isn’t the best place for this, and I know it will probably never get through but like you’re just so freakin nice, like I’m exhausted, got home from school, and not in necessarily the best place emotionally. Very close to passing out to avoid that shitty feeling, and just like watching this made me feel so much better. I’ve been working a lot of my own stuff, definitely say I’ve been more self-aware in this last year then in my entire life, and like just realized that your music, and like just whatever ideas it forms in my head is one of the only solid realities that I’ve clung to. There is something about you and your music that my head has just always loved, just your open wholesomeness and general appreciation of your life and your self. I know there is probably plenty that none of us will never know about your life, but like I’m so happy that your image has been there for me. I know you’re probably overwhelmed with messages like this, and god could I not imagine how you live with that feeling of social pressure, but but anyway I just wanted to say, even if it goes off into a void of strangers, that you mean something to me, and obviously to way more people than just me.

I've gone through four schools in the past four years searching fro one that actually taught me something until my mum said "Fuck it, no one else is doing you any good just teach yourself" so as of January fifth I am a true student of life.

Right now I'm fixing my past relationships. I've got a lot of broken friendships and relationships in general that crashed because I couldn't handle them or because I wasn't ready to. And because of that, I just kinda swept them under a rug. Locked them away in the basement; shoved them under my bed. And as I've grown and gotten older, they've kind of morphed into these monsters that just rot and gurgle in the back of my mind. I've also been getting into the constant problem of having friends gain significant others, and I keep wondering why I can't do the same. I want to, of course, but I would never do that to someone. I would never date someone whilst knowing that I myself am so horribly broken and scabbed and bruised.
So, I've decided that it's time to burn the rug, if you will. Open the basement door; pull out the monsters under my bed. I'm waiting though, for at least any ounce of courage to come from the new summer break. I'm not entirely sure it'll come though.

For 80% of said 6 months i have wasted entire days cleaning, or dancing around with my music in drinking coffee, rather than actually doing anything that will actively lay the groundwork for the business. And now, i feel both crushed by the fear of failure, and crushed by the fear of taking steps, and like my pride wont let me admit to people that im starting to think working for myself is a terrible idea. ugh. its nice to hear that you have 'being your own boss' issues too.

i feel like my current project is a whole new beginning. i moved, i lost people, i let some go on purpose and found some new ones. i am also changing the way i look at myself and treat myself completely and it feels amazing. it’s hard and it hurts sometimes but i know that it’s worth it and these changes have already made me feel a lot happier. thank you for encouraging me to self reflect right here for a second, it’s nice to take a step back to see where you come from and where you are going.

I have been doing great actually. I have had really bad anxiety all my life, and I feel like for the first time in my life I am motivated to start my EDM music production path I’ve been holding of for a while.

It has been a stressful couple of months especially with getting out on an antidepressant for the first time and waiting for that to kick in. I also lost a tooth a felt super embarrassed about that.

But like I said, I’m doing great now. The meds have kicked in, I can’t wait to get started on this project and hopefully some day the world will know my name.

Also thank you for making this video. I was looking through my subscriptions and found your channel and my ears immediately perked up because I wanted to see if you had anything new, and fortunately you did. Welcome back! I'm a student and I have been stressing over a math test that didnt go great today but that's fine. Anyway, AJR made the album The Click that has both a musical theme in each song (it's a clicking noise! Wow!) And a narrative about wanting to do your own thing and make your own beat, while everyone is saying you should follow the click and do it the way everyone else does it! The album they just released is about growing up and it it's a complete concept album with a start and end, along with a plot (kinda. It's not as plot driven as, say, American Idiot, but it's more than The Click). I suggest maybe listening to them or looking into that for answers to your problems with finding your next album's/EP's "thing"

Recently, I've been trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I'm a junior in high school, so its probably about time. I've known for a while I want to do something with music, but I didn't know where or what. I found a college that really suits me, but its very competitive. They only accept 60 freshmen per year and only 5 on the instrument I play (french horn— approximately 25 audition). If I go there, I'll dual major with their partner school to receive a bachelors in music education and french horn performance. Maybe minor in psychology. So I've been working my butt off the get good enough to get accepted. Auditions are next February :)

My current project is working on playlist for the Sander Sides series because it’s really fun and I get to find new music to listen to.

I’m working on my health (physical and mental), and with that trying to find a healthy relationship with cannabis as it can ease my physical and emotional pain but I need to find a good balance where I don’t depend on it. the idea is its gonna be around 5 outfits (well 5 main ones and then some interchangable and extra stuff) which ive designed to be brought on a long road trip to different places in the united states. so like the whole thing is stylish as heck and youll look all cute and matching at each of the different stops and all the clothes are made to fit into a single backpack or your car or whatever.
and im gonna have like a map of the trip and photographs of each location and a beat up old trunk for my drawings and whichever pieces i want to actually make.

Man lemme tell you, I thought I had a plan and turns out my plan was not remotely compatible with my brain. I'm finally letting go of that plan and doing something else. and the something else I'm doing doesn't have direction and that freaks me out exponentially. I never wanted to live a life devoid of direction, I find it difficult to operate on anything other than structure. but I'm trying to give myself grace and the space to be and to follow the mode that allows me to exist less anxiety ridden over making sure everything I'm doing has a point.

nothing's really been happening in my life lately besides studying and getting ready for the next school year, but i've been trying to write more songs. none of them have lyrics yet (i don't know what to write about!! how do i make things rhyme!!), but maybe one day they'll come around.
i feel as though i'm stuck in a transitory period in my life, like i'm just waiting for something to happen and never really living. never feeling fully present in each moment hasn't helped either. it's alright though, maybe things will get better soon. better yet – i'll stop waiting for things to improve and make some sort of change myself.

I almost had about 3 mental breakdowns due to constant anxiety and depression (all while attending school) these last few months and its been hard getting back on my feet because I have no means of rest but I have been trying to work on that by exercising while listening to music (including your songs ofc) because i genuinely feel better after breaking a sweat.

Right now I've been working on some drawings, and some music stuff. The problem is I feel very driven to create things outside of my main music project, and that just seems to atrophy...Do I just have commitment issues?? Its like I have no ideas for my main music hustle and that makes me sad, but also I don't want to try and force it to happen if it doesn't feel ready, because I don't think I have control over it! Sometimes I think you just have to go where the energy is flowing and trust that its leading you in the right direction.

By the way, laying out the doona with that method rarely works for anybody, I swear the movies use CGI to show that! Lol.
As for projects, I always have too many of them competing for my money time and attention! I now try to decide not whether I will do one or another by when will I do them, that way nothing is ever totally binned aa an idea, my future self has always thanked me for that. The advantage you have is that you are still in your 20's and all the amazing tech n resources these days is in reach, my gen (in their 40's) are often jelly of this.
My big project is starting a 5 acre permaculture block in late July, the first priorities being building a fenced dog yard, moving house and culling belongings, and building a pond, chook coop and caravan deck. I'm excited/terrified!

Hi Dodie, not likely that you’ll read this but that’s fine. I’m not up to much. Just struggling with a lot of health problems. Trying to find the right medication and experimenting a bit. The nerves in my brain and neck aren’t doing their job very well. So I’ve been struggling with chronic fatigue like symptoms and possibly fibromyalgia. They have been creating chronic pain throughout my body. I recently turned 17 and remembering to be 17 is hard with my 70 year old like back pain. Anyways. That’s what I’m up to. -Indi
