By the way, about the madrigal-inspired version of Deck the Halls not being exactly in D major, back in the Renaissance and Baroque periods the tuning was different from the modern one and it was not standardized, so I'd say you're pretty much justified!

I was thoroughly entertained by this video considering the fact that I was having a debate in the comments section of your last video about whether or not the audio was prerecorded. Audio is almost always prerecorded, lads, unless it specifically says live. It's not a bad thing!

Hey Dodie! To fix the latency issues with your mic, you have to go into your logic preferences and change the buffer size to the smallest one (make sure all your other apps/ programs are closed as well). This allows your computer to dedicate all it's power to your recording, and you get no latency! Also, when mixing, turn your buffer size up, as you don't need to hear everything in real time, and your computer won't choke/slow down when you add plugins/effects!

For the latency thing, try going into Preferences -> Audio (is it?) and making the "buffer size" smaller! It's protocol for recording and monitoring, and do the opposite if you're only editing and stuff.

7:05 I think after listening to thousands of different songs and playing instruments and ESPECIALLY singing in choirs/singing groups, your brain remembers what harmonies sound good and you can anticipate it more. I sometimes attempt to harmonise when I'm singing along to the radio now, and I only knew how to do it after being an alto in choir for like 2 years lol. I love when they actually work(which isn't always) :D

whenever i watch dodie i feel so safe and peaceful, like everything is going to be fine.

One of my favourite things to do, even now, is sing along to these knowing how you complete it in the future, as to feel apart of the song and get a taste of actually being able to harmonise •u•

To fix your latency issues:

Go into preferences (top left), Audio, then click Devices

Change your “buffer size” to something lower than it currently is

Basically the way it works is that the lower it is the harder your computer has to work but the less delay there will be between the input and playback. The better your audio interface and PC, the lower it will go. If you’re using the built in audio output then you won’t be able to set it that low :(

Hey so when you're trying to get the tempo right - I believe Logic has a tap tempo feature to make things easy.
So you can just tap in what you want it to be and if it's weird (like 187.4 bpm or something) you can just round it to the nearest 5 bpm :)

If you’re struggling with tempo estimations download MetroTimer in the app store!! it had a feature where you tap the tempo in and it tells you the tempo you’re tapping at. Really helpful when you need to put a tempo into Logic! hope that helps a bit xxx

I'd recommend a Scarlett Solo/Scarlett 2i2 interface and an Audio Technica AT2020 microphone to go on that mic stand.hella good and hella cheap. Also, very low latency. Unnoticeable for me

Even after watching some videos going around recently that have caused a lot of people to feel sour towards you, having no way to know 100% what happened and knowing I really LOVE your music and your vlog style videos I don't think the excess in which people are dramatizing their anger promising to boycott you (some not all people) is appropriate. I think that attacking the situation from all angles, no matter what side you believe in...even if it's a lack of choosing a side we need to be delicate because I'm not sure condemning an entire person's livelihood based off of one moment is at all justifiable, especially at the digression of people who weren't personally involved. In fact, the person interviewed who was involved also specified that this was how he personally FELT about the situation which is indirectly admitting to bias to a degree at least because of his own emotions. We're not professionals, and I'm sure well into 90% of your viewership lacks the proper experience to fairly judge your worthiness of job security. IMO. Kind of made me angry, like why want to continue such a cycle that only angers people and impairs them from effectively and kindly fixing the problem lest only to be vindictive?

Did you use soundcard in the recording session? If you didn't, you should. Some soundcards have built-in preamp to enhance the signal from your gear and adjust your buffer size to avoid latency. If you did but still encounter latency, try to play with your buffer size. Hope it helps!

hey dodie!!! idk if im seein it right but i noticed u were making a ton of tracks instead of using cycle mode for logic :--0 idk if its on purpose (ik some people don't like cycle mode) but in case ya don't know, you can first set some locators for the measures, by pressing choose navigate --> set locators by selection (or command u) and then just start recording ! and it'll save each take you make, and you can even combine takes and cross fade between them to make it sound cohesive :--) but totally understandable if you don't like them, but just wanted to point it out incase ya didnt know cause this girl didnt know lmao

hey dodie! somewhere in logic (I’m a bit rusty myself) there should be a ‘Tap Tempo’ button where you just click it a few times in the beat, so instead of clicking and guessing you can just click the mousepad!

Latency can often be fixed in preferences :) I'm assuming you have the most recent version of Logic? (Pro X)

Open:
Logic Pro X > Preferences > Audio
Click Devices

Alter the "I/O Buffer Size" bar:
- If you're using an audio interface (the thing you plug your microphone into that then connects to your computer) that connects via *USB*, set it at around 128 samples. If you're using an audio interface that connects via *thunderbolt*, you can set it to the lowest setting.
Thunderbolt is more efficient in transferring data using less processing power, and can use a smaller buffer sample size. If your sample size is too low for your computer, it may crash or "system overload" while trying to record/play your stuff (this is verryyyy annoying)

AND/OR
Alter the recording delay (the sliding bar thing) in the same menu. If it's too high, then you will get a lot of latency. Too low, and you may run into the same issue as before with system overload errors. Just try it out and see what works for you

What's the mic and program you use?

i was anxious but i’m not anymore thanks

the program is Logic Pro which is (1) Mac only and (2) pretty expensive. You can get GarageBand on Mac which is a good alternative. On Windows, LMMS is a good free program but learning curve is a bit tough. But free!!!
