Ah that's such a wonderful idea!! This just inspired me to go through some of my old stories that I wrote when I was fourteen (I'm 22 aka old now) and I'm SO MAD at myself for giving up writing for so many years!! I should be so much better by now, but reading what I wrote back then has me like "wtf I was a freaking child prodigy poet and now I'm rubbish and don't know how to write" which usually ends in a quarter-life-crisis. I've been in quite a depressive/ spaced out episode recently, and this competition and the possibility of more Dodie is exactly what I need to help pull me to a more steady mental state. It's healthy to look back on old things and make yourself smile instead of wishing you could be there instead. Also, I know you have no clue who I am and I only know you from what you choose to put out, but we are SO similar. I mean we even look the same. But seeing you doing your best to enjoy the world regardless of the film of derealization that we both have and seeing you smiling makes me want to too. Nothing has done that for me in the longest time, so thank you so much. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being vulnerable and putting yourself out into the internet.

DUDE i literally just did this for my photography class! It was a color project i had where you would take 10 photos of a color theme that you picked out of a bowl. (mine was red) Then our teacher surprised us having us write a short story that includes all 10 photos somehow. mine was about a girl named Tiffany who got picked up by her dad from her school to go to an abandoned cabin where he then killed her.

Hey dodie! Have you ever played the game exquisite corpse with photos? Basically one person posts a photo captioned by one sentence that is supposed to be like the opener to a story. Then, another person posts a photo as a reply to the original photo with a one line caption that continues the story. And then the next person posts and then the chain continues. (Both the photo and the captions are part of the story.) I think this would be a pretty cool game to play on Instagram but I don't actually know how it would work logistically as I don't have an Instagram haha (will probs create one for this contest thing though).

Sat in the exam hall these past few weeks, I never really felt as though I was present. Every morning I see my primary school which holds my fondest memories and best friends, and every morning when I turn to face 'big' school, I feel like I shouldn't be there, like I'm too young and immature. In less than 3 weeks I'll be done with school, yet it feels like I haven't yet begun. In less than 3 weeks some of my nearest and dearest friends are going to be moving away from me. In less than 3 weeks I'm going to have gotten older yet again. I'm growing up, but in my head I'm still a year 5 running up and down the playground, desperately trying to escape the bulldogs in the centre. I'm getting smarter yet I still ask myself questions I would have asked when I was 5 like why is the sea blue? Maybe I'm delusional or maybe I'm just dreaming but I truly do feel as if I'm still a child.
