Mean Twilight could've been the best villain in the entire show. She has the best personality and highest inteligence for a villain. Too bad she got overpowered by the tree.
Yeah, she would be a good antagonist for the original Twilight, and contrasting them with each other could make Twilight's good sides stand out even better. It would also show what Twilight could become if she turned to evil ;)
I love Mean Twilight. It's a real pity she got disintegrated by the Tree before she got a chance to be a bigger threat, but I can see why the story wouldn't have worked as well otherwise.
She would've been a real threat, havin' Twilight's magic skills, intelligence, she would've been a better version of the unreformed Sunset and Starlight.
I felt really bad for Chrysalis in this episode, because she's clearly going mad from loneliness. As for when the mean 6 were defeated; that actually wasn't the original version of how they died. We know from a leak that came out before the episode that this is actually a toned down version of the scene.
There's a hidden metaphor that I think this episode has. That when you're stressed, you act like a completely different person. I talked about this when this episode first came out, and I've legit heard no one talk about that. If that's what the writers intended, that was a stroke of genius.
22:54 "So what did Chrysalis even accomplish in this episode?" Well, now she knows about the Tree of Harmony. Before, she had no idea where the Elements came from.
Yet another interesting S8 episode in my book. I didn’t expect to see Chrysalis’ return in the middle of the season, but I had no reason to complain. It was cool to see her again. Throughout this episode, I felt sorry for her as she slowly descended into madness after becoming a renegade Changeling.
On the note of the Mean 6, I didn’t think we’d see those versions of our heroes again after “The Return of Harmony”, but it was still interesting though. My favorite of the bunch was Mean Rarity, she always seems to make me laugh. Then there’s Mean Twilight, the one that I got an unsettling vibe from the most. The way she operates is like unreformed Sunset and Starlight and that was pretty disturbing in my opinion.
I’m just glad the Tree of Harmony ended this madness before it got out of hoof. But man, that ending scene of the Mean 6’s defeats was dark, I still get goosebumps from that sequence. Overall, I liked this episode for what it is and is one that I’d like to come back to a lot.
I really can't decide which mean 6 I like the most, mean twilight is awesome, bullyshy is delightful, mean AJs lies are hilarious and of course hoardity with all the mem faces.
About the mean 6's death it was actually supposed to be much more gruesome looking than the one you're seeing. When Hasbro was still producing season 8,the mean 6 death scene was far more terrifying.
There was a leak before the season even began. Someone hacked the systems at Hasbro and began releasing some of the episodes of season 8 early. It got pretty bad. Not to mention the polish dubs were releasing earlier than the main schedule.
Broderick Siz When Mean Twilight said “you’ve ruined everything”, her melting face was animated in a more unruly way. It was altered by the animators and editors to stop midway and to not go that far by cutting away from those last few seconds.
Although Chrysalis was going mad without her drones, it also comes into question over what would’ve happened if she accepted Starlight’s words in the Season 6 finale?
I really do love Chrysalis, like I commented in the last episode, Cozy is either my favorite or second favorite. Chrysalis is the reason for that uncertainty.
I especially love how over the time after her self-imposed exile from the hive, she starts going mad from the absence of her changelings. It implies that she isn't entirely evil to the core, she's just far too set in her own mindset to be able to change.
Chrysalis went a bit loony on her own. If you look closely, the mean six cutie marks are slightly different from the original mane 6, like AJs apples are green as you noticed and rainbows mark is upside down. Chrysalis probably thinks that being evil is so stressful :P The mean six death that made to the final product is actually censored, the original was more messed up.
@@scootaloofromponyville1708 Oh I know that, I just like to joke around in these comments.
Also, Tabitha is the best voice actress. On the show? Of course! In animated media? Possibly. In the known universe? ...You could make an argument for that. :)
Can you IMAGINE if they had not only kept the original death scene, but then also added voice distortion as they melted? Oooo that would've been so COOL!
This is a pretty good episode. It's great to see Chrysalis again. It's great seeing the main and mean six interacting with each other. That scene is rather horrifying.
01:38 Fluttershy turning Pinkie Pie for a split second :) 01:58 Ass shot :) 02:48 DNA sample for the spell. 06:34 From the entire Mean Six, I love mean Twilight the most :> She's more intelligent than all of them taken together and could easily outsmart Chrysalis. And if she were allowed to live longer, I bet she could have easily taken over Equestria :q She could be a great villain. And a good counterpoint for the protagonist Twilight. 07:24 Ouch... Roses have thorns :q 15:05 Could this be the first episode of this show that you didn't like? :q Interesting, because most reacters loved this one. Welp, now you know how I felt about the "P.P.O.V." episode :q Here at least those mean ponies are different characters. In "P.P.O.V." they were the actual mane six, who should have known better, being good friends for such a long time. So it was a real pain for me to watch "P.P.O.V." :q 15:15 Twilight pays the other Twilight's karma :q 16:04 She's hoping that when they come to that location, she will be able to use the Elements against Chrysalis ;> So it will be the Bad Twilight who won't need Chrysalis anymore, not the other way around ;) 21:15 It's not that easy. Chrysalis thought that the Elements are connected to the Mane Six just because they are them. But the truth is, they are connected to the Elements because of who they are and what they do. When they started behaving bad under Discord's spell, they were unable to use the Elements, because they didn't resonate with them anymore. The same reason was behind the fact that the Mean Six couldn't use the Elements and triggered their self-protection mechanism. A pony who doesn't represent the Elements of Harmony with their character traits and virtues, cannot use them. 21:49 Yeah, nightmare fuel indeed :q You know, FOR KIDS! :P (Well, at least they nerfed it down, because the original leaked scene was much more terrifying :P ) 22:17 Only Pinkie can say that in such a way that it still sounds funny :J 22:55 Well, she managed to introduce chaos and split between the main characters without them even noticing what's going on, that's one thing. And it wasn't even her original intention :q 23:23 Good comparison. And it was "Raiders of the Lost Ark".
Not only did Chrysalis make the mistake of creating evil clones of the Mane 6 (who won't even obey such simple orders, including Mean Twilight being defiant and powerful than Chrissy herself), but all of them in the presence of the Tree of Harmony using dark magic or creating disharmony triggered a defense mechanism, thus ensnaring and withering the clones to nothing.
One of my favorite S8 episodes. I honestly wish Mean Twilight had escaped from the Tree of Harmony so she could become a recurring villain, perhaps even a member of the Legion of Doom in S9 (if she and Chrysalis could figure out how to get along, that is).
Oh yeah, and that face-melting scene was… something, to say the least.
That would've been the best alliance ever, especially if they and the other villains betrayed the fake Grogar. Then, release the real Grogar from where he was banished from
Anyone else realize Starlight could've continued running and fallen off that edge? Rarity did say she would keep her from breaking her hoof. So yeah, I think at that point Starlight gave up on life because of Anti-Applejack.
The return of Chrysalis was really disappointing for how the rest of the season went. And being right on the mid-season hiatus made it worse for everyone.
The clones dying was definitely terrifying for a kids show in general. But in the leaked version it was worse
