Jordan has been a full-time keyboardist at the Dream Theater since recording Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memoryiz 1999. Since then he has recorded 8 more studio albums; 2002's Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, 2003's Train of Thought, 2005's Octavarium, 2007's Systematic Chaos, 2009's Black Clouds & Silver Linings, 2011's A Dramatic Turn of Events, 2013's Dream Theater, and 2016's The Astonishing. In addition, he appeared on live albums Live Scenes From New York, Live at Budokan, Score, Chaos in Motion, Live at Luna Parki Breaking the Fourth Wall. While most keyboardists in rock bands strive to bring numerous keyboards to the stage, Rudeš is completely took advantage of the capabilities offered by the Kurzweil K2600xs during its use from the 1990s to 2004. Frequently sampling sounds from other keyboards, Rudess creates a series of settings, each mapping different sounds to different layers and keypads of the keyboard controller; these settings are then arranged in the order they will be needed for the gig and cycled through one by one with the control pedal.Although Rudess ’physical method of changing live settings will more than likely remain the same, his choice of hardware to implement it has changed since 2005. better support for the tour and more up-to-date technologies (128 MB of Kurzweil's maximum trial memory of 2600 became insufficient for his touring needs) Rudess switched keyboard confirmations from Kurzweil to Korg's new flagship Kor Oasys workstation memory), which he uses on tour with the Dream Theater along with the receptor and haken continuum powered by Roland V-Synth and Synthesizers.com Modular.
