@Killer Sangs I don't think he's doing it for "fun". he clearly said it on the stream he tries to "steal" shroud's money by undercutting the price of shroud's knife and making it looks like shroud opened them. Imagine when you try to sell an item and someone doing this to you. If he's doing this clearly just for fun he won't give up when shroud undercut the price of knife for the whole market by a "huge" margin, it's clear he's just doing it for the money. I think this is the reason why some people will get mad over this.

You fall along the lines of over-loyalty than screaming. But to provide a case study of said community, when ninja took off last year with Fortnite and comparisons were being made. The salt that flowed from both sides could have filled the sea. His subreddit was shutdown once due to the toxic people within it. And his title of "king of reddit" was due to the the cs subreddit, not his own.

@SirJoey Yes they can, they made the game you know. Obviously they dont use a wand, they temper with their chances. And since they know what steam profile they have it should be easy.
@Intex What are you talking about? When you open a case you communicate to a server that then sends a string representing the item that should "drop". The case doesn't hold anything at all before you decide to open it. Items are not hardcoded into the boxes.
@Intex no it can't be rigged these guys are idiots, the items in the case have a hard set chance of getting it, Devs just can't change numbers in the case without applying a hotfix to the game and to do that they would have to shut down the game. Unless Shroud and Anaomally accounts were changed to have better rates before the case went up then only this could of been possible

@HealthyHP The 2nd The cases hold strings represeting the weapons, and it got an odds with it, I never said it didnt. I said they are not hardcoded, Like it's predestined which gun will drop before you click "open case", like a previous commentor suggested. The odds could easily be on stored on a file on the server your client side connects to when you open a case, anything else would be weird and I would want to hear the explaination of that design choice from the devs. This is just my perspective as a system engineer, sorry.

Steam users got a id so they could just look at which popular streamer is atm opening cases lookup steam id and just make it so the next time this user opens a case he will get this knife. Or the rate was bugged because this shit happening is way more fucked up than winning in lotto

@HealthyHP The 2nd you can code this implementation in so you don't even need to hotfix. You can communicate with a specific persons odds just as easily as someone can type something in, if they really wanted to change specific peoples chances to make it look more appealing to the viewers they can. Not sure if you yourself have written any code at all but its pretty freaking simple to send commands to someones games when you literally code the thing to do so. so don't assume as if you have experience in such matters
they are trying to get people to play CSGO again, i wouldn't be surprised if they contacted these streamers before hand, and then what do you know.. they both open the same item... hmm..
@BlueTJ No, but I disconnected my internet connection, tried to open a box, it says the item couldn't be retreived, I connect to internet again, boot up the game and my box and key is still there. So, it's unlikely it's hardcoded into local files (poor practice either way), which in itself would be poor design. My perspective as a software engineer, and done plenty of backend. It's just not effective, nor secure to hardcode stuff and store it local side. And I never said they are rigging anything, I told someone it's highly unlikely they are hardcoding items + odds into locla files. Also I don't need to use wireshark to understand it's stupid with local storage dealing with this.
@Mr Caterpillar the amount of time it takes to open a case and the amount of time to change script takes a while you know because while he's opening a case it'll take the devs like 5 minutes just to get to the location of where that script line is and change it because there is hundreds of thousands of script
Plus you can't just change it for one person well you can but you would have to scroll through a big list of players to find his LocalPlayer scripts and then change about 100 lines of script to make it drop that exact knife. Because they would have to change the drop rate to everything in that case

I work in IT security, so the first thing I would do is sniff the packets and look inside them. We don't know how their system really works, that's where @humudu is right.
@HealthyHP The 2nd I'm a game developer. Even though I work almost entirely in single-player games, I have helped people with code for multiplayer systems like this. I can confirm that a competent developer can include code that would do as follows:
1: When client communicates to server that the case has been opened, server checks their STEAMID 2: If STEAMID is in a list/database, give a certain item, then remove the entry from the database (so they only get 1 knife). 3: Else, if the STEAMID is not in the list, roll a random item from a drop table, send that to the client and the steam inventory servers.
In this case, there would be software at Valve that could update the database of STEAMIDs and add an entry. For example, someone on Valve's team could select an account and then add an entry for a specific item with various parameters. The next time a case is opened by that STEAMID, the server will then send the "rigged" information instead of performing a legitimate roll.
It is unreasonable to state that a game developer "CANNOT" do something to their game. They programmed the logic that determines what items a player will get from cases, of course they could program it to check who is rolling and then rig it accordingly.

It surprises me how many people doesn't understand how marketing works.This is how this companies fool you to spend more money on their games, they use streamers to market their product by increasing their chances on getting great loot from boxes. Big streamers are the biggest publicity they can get.

@humudu First off, never said they are rigging anything. Also, best preactices are best practices for a reason and hardcoding items and drop rates into local files on client side is not effective. I never said anything beyond them having responding files server side.
@HealthyHP The 2nd actually it is quite simple. there is no such thing as chance when it comes to computing/computers. RNG is made using a preset string of numbers based on something. EX. Email you use for steam. Turn each letter or symbol or number into a specific string of numbers. The equation for your RNG layout would run against/from that string of numbers. Setting up your supposed chance and odds. Each item would then therefore be set up without anyone knowing besides the server.
So in essence, what you will get is predetermined sort of, well realistically it is. They could make it seem more like chance with a few additions. They most likely make each item have a specific point value. The RNG chance you hit will hit that point value. Depending on the value you get equals different rarity. Add in another layer of RNG equations to figure out which item you get form that rarity, EX. Each case could potential have its own specified equation for the items point value within its case. Each case could also run its own RNG equations on a preset algorithm for it since they have different items to other cases. Cloning cases RNG equation would make it easier to manage, but the RNG equation itself could be made by using another RNG equation that is based from somewhere else.
They could very easily configure the equation at any given time. Without need for shut down. If each case carried its own set of RNG equations. All they would have to do is look into that person inventory and change the equations for that specific case. Thats the simplest example, its probably a bit more complicated. But to do it while live servers are up is very simple. All the data is stored on their servers. There are different types of data. The data used for inventory is probably very dynamic. It has to be since it can get updates by gaining/buying/selling and what not. So there is no need for an update or hot fix. It's the same as when you sign your items. It is all happening live.
Therefore they could just go there, click on a case, mark it as a specialized case, change the equation, and there we go. RIGGED AS FUCK. (I'm a data analyst, while i do not know how their systems work. I was just giving an familiar example to show how it is very easy to rig it. I bet they do something similar but obviously for security reasons, there are a lot of other things and of course there are many ways the system could work or run.)

@Randall the Dog Exactly, when two big streamers get the same exact very rare and very expensive item from a case, people think that their chances of getting a very rare and very expensive item are much higher than reality. In reality, it is more cost efficient to purchase the items if you really want them.
@HealthyHP The 2nd you don't know how they implemented it, it could literally be anything. cases could hold some values or the game might just communicate to the server with a case name, player id and some additional data, it can be implemented either way and you can't just assume without further investigation. Based on this video I think server communication does happen and they just messed up the odds for the streamers, because it's almost impossible for 2 people get 3 exact same knives at the exact same time. and no, you don't need a hotfix and you don't have to shutdown anything if it's server-related, you could literally do anything in real time, if it's designed that way. but again, you can't be 100% sure, but it is very possible

Valve gives these two knives to show that its possible to gain knives which makes viewers buy cases but is given a lower chance which slims the chance of valve losing money but is actually going to create money from all the bought cases.

Dzeividz ive opened like 31 cases for 2 month playing cs and got 2 knives. Then i opened 58 cases and got nothing. This is random shit. Youtubers increase their chance by opening thousands of it
They open hundreds of cases, they are most likely gonna get a knife sooner or later and we think they get a lot of rare items cause people only upload the "highlights" where they actually got something

Its quite probable Valve supports streamers on that level as Anomaly and shroud by somehow making their accounts more probable to open expensive skins. In this case probably something went wrong, because they opened 3 rare knifes that are not just Doppler, not just Phase 4, but also Factory New. Maybe a proof would be if the wear of those 3 knife is the same, but both shroud and Anomaly didn't check the wear not a single time. And that's quite unusual, especially for Anomaly, who's first thing to do when open an expensive skin is to check the wear. Call me conspirative, but think about it for a second whats the chance of this to happen for real in the same time.

@BLUSAUCE skins went up in price again now because of the growth of the player base. You can go to community market and look at the price history of any CS skins (which were around at the time of the ban of op skins and trade cooldown updates) and they will be at their highest after their release

Shroud was the normal one, I've never understood why people get so excited over knifes. I've unboxed around 8 knifes, never once screamed or shouted over it like the people you see on youtube.

Imagine when you try to sell an item and someone doing this to you. If he's doing this clearly just for fun he won't give up when shroud undercut the price of knife for the whole market by a "huge" margin, it's clear he's just doing it for the money. I think this is the reason why some people will get mad over this.

29 likes@Intex What are you talking about? When you open a case you communicate to a server that then sends a string representing the item that should "drop". The case doesn't hold anything at all before you decide to open it. Items are not hardcoded into the boxes.

3 likes@Intex no it can't be rigged these guys are idiots, the items in the case have a hard set chance of getting it, Devs just can't change numbers in the case without applying a hotfix to the game and to do that they would have to shut down the game. Unless Shroud and Anaomally accounts were changed to have better rates before the case went up then only this could of been possible

I said they are not hardcoded, Like it's predestined which gun will drop before you click "open case", like a previous commentor suggested. The odds could easily be on stored on a file on the server your client side connects to when you open a case, anything else would be weird and I would want to hear the explaination of that design choice from the devs. This is just my perspective as a system engineer, sorry.

You can communicate with a specific persons odds just as easily as someone can type something in, if they really wanted to change specific peoples chances to make it look more appealing to the viewers they can. Not sure if you yourself have written any code at all but its pretty freaking simple to send commands to someones games when you literally code the thing to do so. so don't assume as if you have experience in such matters

1 like@BlueTJ No, but I disconnected my internet connection, tried to open a box, it says the item couldn't be retreived, I connect to internet again, boot up the game and my box and key is still there. So, it's unlikely it's hardcoded into local files (poor practice either way), which in itself would be poor design. My perspective as a software engineer, and done plenty of backend. It's just not effective, nor secure to hardcode stuff and store it local side. And I never said they are rigging anything, I told someone it's highly unlikely they are hardcoding items + odds into locla files. 0 likes@HealthyHP The 2nd I'm a game developer. Even though I work almost entirely in single-player games, I have helped people with code for multiplayer systems like this. I can confirm that a competent developer can include code that would do as follows:
4 likes1: When client communicates to server that the case has been opened, server checks their STEAMID
2: If STEAMID is in a list/database, give a certain item, then remove the entry from the database (so they only get 1 knife).
3: Else, if the STEAMID is not in the list, roll a random item from a drop table, send that to the client and the steam inventory servers.
In this case, there would be software at Valve that could update the database of STEAMIDs and add an entry. For example, someone on Valve's team could select an account and then add an entry for a specific item with various parameters. The next time a case is opened by that STEAMID, the server will then send the "rigged" information instead of performing a legitimate roll.
It is unreasonable to state that a game developer "CANNOT" do something to their game. They programmed the logic that determines what items a player will get from cases, of course they could program it to check who is rolling and then rig it accordingly.

0 likes@HealthyHP The 2nd actually it is quite simple. there is no such thing as chance when it comes to computing/computers. RNG is made using a preset string of numbers based on something. EX. Email you use for steam. Turn each letter or symbol or number into a specific string of numbers. The equation for your RNG layout would run against/from that string of numbers. Setting up your supposed chance and odds. Each item would then therefore be set up without anyone knowing besides the server.
1 likeSo in essence, what you will get is predetermined sort of, well realistically it is. They could make it seem more like chance with a few additions. They most likely make each item have a specific point value. The RNG chance you hit will hit that point value. Depending on the value you get equals different rarity. Add in another layer of RNG equations to figure out which item you get form that rarity, EX. Each case could potential have its own specified equation for the items point value within its case. Each case could also run its own RNG equations on a preset algorithm for it since they have different items to other cases. Cloning cases RNG equation would make it easier to manage, but the RNG equation itself could be made by using another RNG equation that is based from somewhere else.
They could very easily configure the equation at any given time. Without need for shut down. If each case carried its own set of RNG equations. All they would have to do is look into that person inventory and change the equations for that specific case. Thats the simplest example, its probably a bit more complicated. But to do it while live servers are up is very simple. All the data is stored on their servers. There are different types of data. The data used for inventory is probably very dynamic. It has to be since it can get updates by gaining/buying/selling and what not. So there is no need for an update or hot fix. It's the same as when you sign your items. It is all happening live.
Therefore they could just go there, click on a case, mark it as a specialized case, change the equation, and there we go. RIGGED AS FUCK. (I'm a data analyst, while i do not know how their systems work. I was just giving an familiar example to show how it is very easy to rig it. I bet they do something similar but obviously for security reasons, there are a lot of other things and of course there are many ways the system could work or run.)

0 likes@HealthyHP The 2nd you don't know how they implemented it, it could literally be anything. cases could hold some values or the game might just communicate to the server with a case name, player id and some additional data, it can be implemented either way and you can't just assume without further investigation. Based on this video I think server communication does happen and they just messed up the odds for the streamers, because it's almost impossible for 2 people get 3 exact same knives at the exact same time. and no, you don't need a hotfix and you don't have to shutdown anything if it's server-related, you could literally do anything in real time, if it's designed that way. but again, you can't be 100% sure, but it is very possible

In this case probably something went wrong, because they opened 3 rare knifes that are not just Doppler, not just Phase 4, but also Factory New. Maybe a proof would be if the wear of those 3 knife is the same, but both shroud and Anomaly didn't check the wear not a single time. And that's quite unusual, especially for Anomaly, who's first thing to do when open an expensive skin is to check the wear. Call me conspirative, but think about it for a second whats the chance of this to happen for real in the same time.
