A pony is not a young horse. A pony is any horse that's less than 58 inches tall at the shoulder. Celestia is a pony, and the two delegates from Saddle Arabia are shorter than her, so they are also ponies. The fact that they look different can be chalked up to ethnicity.

I think you're overthinking the saddle thing. Saddles are used fashionably even in Equestria.

Aside from showing hilariously that sometimes Sawtooth does 0 research on things, this still had some interesting things to think about. I wish we ever got to see more of the Saddle Arabians. I can see it being the case that like RL horses, they were infact ridden on. But just not by humans of course. There are plenty of other biped races that could have ridden them instead.
And as a headcanon, I like to imagine "human" is a creature of myth that is based on written descriptions of several biped races. Like how "unicorn" is a mythological creature that was based on someone's written description of a rhino. When people get vague with a newfound species, it can lead to hilarious results. I'd love for them to make a nod to that in the Equestrian human. Would help clear up all problems with the slipup of using words that refer to humans and the like. Ugh, resorting to headcanon again. So damn hard to avoid when the show keeps giving us nothing to work with.

Let's recap: Sawtooth was under the impression, when they made this video, that a pony was a young horse (which is not an uncommon misconception; I blame the fact that "pony" is derived from the French word for "foal;" but I digress). They are now aware that a pony is a horse from one of many relatively small breeds (to avoid horse terminology that not everyone may know: the maximum height cut-off is usually about 4'4" at the point of the back right where the neck connects to the shoulder).

IN this case, I have to think that there was a play off of something about our Saudi Arabia, and that was their view on horses in general. They have, not just a specific breed of horse--the Arabian--but also they are considered to be the oldest existing breed of horse still left on Earth, and known to man. (Google it for all the specifics.) In any case, one thing I do know is that the Arabian is the base species for many of the known species of horses around the world, often bought and used for interbreeding for the traits that Arabians are known. They are prized horses in Saudi, and considered a very noble breed. Moreover, if you have seen a picture of, or an actual, Arabian, and compare that to what is in the animation, they drew them very close to the appearance of the actual horse. Therefore, it would only make sense that the race of equine from that land would be Arabians. Therefore, not only are there different races among the ponies, but also difference races among the equines, (Cranky Doodle and Matilda, anyone?) This, to me, shows what kind of a world this is, with a wondrous variety of sentient beings to choose from, and all living in relative peace and harmony. We could learn something from this.

Ok, from a equestrian you tuber, ponies are a type of horse (Equus caballus) but ponies do not turn into horses. Ponies are a size configuration. So a horse under 14.2 hh (1.4 m or 4.7ft) is a pony. Anything larger than that is considered to be horse. However like in dogs there are meany diffrent breeds, horses / ponys are the same. The taller ponies in the show are probably designed off of the diffrent breeds. The ponies that you are reffering to that stand taller than the ponies seem to be based off of the Arabian horses, which are generally smaller than that of a thoroughbred which is what I believe the fully developed alicorns to be based off of. The baby's are yes a fillys/ colts but they are generally referred to as foals, the school ponies are still called fillys/colts and the adults are yes ponies - the horses are just a different breed from another country in the equestrian world .

I have an idea. What if the more royal blood you have in your bloodline, the more horselike you become. Since we dont know who the 2 Sisters Luna and Tia are related to, there is a chance they were born to an ordinary, everyday Pony, only becoming taller and more horse-like after years and years of royal duty. Some models in Canterlot can be seen as being born to royal blood as well, which is why they are taller even though they are not princesses. They could simply be nobles, like dukes or duchesses. That would explain greatly why the delegates of Saddle-Araibia were horses, and not ponies. They must have been born to a loooooong line of royal blood.

A pony and a horse are two different animals .if a filly or a colt were to become horses they would be know as a baby until the parasitic height. as for a pony they never grow to be a horse because they will never grow to the right height.

My theory is that in Equestria horses seem to be considered a different species all together. They don't talk and are looked upon as modes of transport.(My example is the last episode in season one; Twilight turns Fluttershy's mice into horses as a way to get to the Grand Galloping Gala).

About there being humans in Saddle Arabia, I don't think so. Though a minotaur is half a man, half a bull, I still consider that mythological creature a monster. And there has been many mythical monsters in MLP universe (Loch Ness monster, griffons, dragons, that... ursa thing?). As to why the horses in Saddle Arabia wear saddles and stuff, I like to think it as their fashion style. After all, real people in the middle east have much different clothing than what people are used to in western countries. And just look at Zecora. She also has those African styled accessories, suitable for someone coming from Africa. :)

There are ponies, and there are horses. They are different species! Its a pretty simple concept. Although a common misconception to call young horses ponies, they are different. However, it is still very possible that there are horses in Equestria or beyond. But still, the delegates from Saddle Arabia may just be "ponies" with different physiques, just like people from different areas of the world have different physiques.
On another note, there are many other other objects humans use which are in the show. Also, the ponies are commonly seen with saddle bags used to carry items around. Also, any of the items used to pull carts a form of saddle. Saddle doesn't just refer to something a human uses to ride a horse/other equestrian species.

I would love to think the the horses from "Saddle Arabia" are based off of the one main breed of horses the saudies mostly use. Seeing as it is Arabian horses, elegant and fast.

Actually, if you give Celestia a non-flowing mane and a saddle, thet look pretty similar, so there is no reason to think they are horses.

I think that the Saddle Arabia 'ponies' are an entirely different race, since there are non-pony tribes in other parts of Equestria. The ponies of Ponyville and other pony inhabited cities could also be descendents of the Saddle Arabia ponies. I don't know about the saddles, though. They could possibly be some sort of fashion trend in Saddle Arabia.

being ponies are a subbranch from the equine line they are actually completely different from horses. however horses are shown multiple times in mlp from the deligates to the Clydesdale rodio clown. if you notice their features and structure is different than the ponies. fillies and colts are a young horse under 4 years of age (but since this is mlp we are talking about lets say under adulthood) all the other ponies stay ponies even as the age because its impossible to change into a horse. it would be like a Pegasus changing into a griffin

I can't believe you had no idea ponies and horses are different (though inter-breedable) species. Like Bulldogs and Golden Retrievers. Both of those are dogs, but you wouldn't call a Golden a Bulldog. Ponies and Horses are both Equines, and I'm sure we've met ponies (Trouble Shoes?) who were part horse, but just like the canines, they're not the same thing.

Pony is the term for a small horse, generally under 14.2 hands high at adulthood(the standard measurement for equines). A young horse is not a pony, an old pony is not a horse. If they are not yet fully grown, they are still fillies or colts, regardless of height. If an equine of any breed reaches over 14.2 hands high, they are a horse, not a pony.

You do know that ponies and horses are two different things.
Ponies are much smaller and stay at around 5-7 hands high and horses can grow from around 5-19 and possibly 20 hands high.

Ponys and horses are actualy two diferent species. Height and weight are used to determine wich one they are.
So celestia luna and the horses from saudi arabia would all most likely be considered horses. This can also explain why the pony of pop (sorry i cant remember her name) and others like her have longer figures than most ponies do, because they are actualy horses not ponys.

I think that the Saddle Arabian ponies are just from another part of the top world. Like races in our lives, they could merely look different based on where they're from. Equestrian send to be similar to the USA. So, I don't think it's so far-fetched that there are other places in the mlp world, such as Saddle Arabia. As for the saddles themselves, ponies are seen wearing them often enough in other parts of the show, such as at he grand galloping gala. I guess it's just an accessory or some sort of sophisticated clothing.

Ponies never turn into horses. Horses are simply a mid-sized equine. Ponies are small equines, and drafts are equines. So, the horses from Saddle Arabia are, horses. Equestria, in my theory, is simply a very large population of ponies, while the equines in Saddle Arabia are horses. There is possibly another kingdom that is populated fully by drafts, another kingdom populated by zebras? There could possibly be a kingdom of donkeys, mules, and horses, since mules are simply created by a horse and a donkey getting together to make a hybrid.

Well, ponies don't age into horses. Ever. I always figured that the large characters like princess Luna and celestia, were horses, while the rest are ponies. I always thought that they were 2 completely different things, like they are on earth. And they're just a lot less common.

There's a problem here. PONYS DONT GROW INTO HORSES. They are two different things though they are the same species. The way to tell if an equine is a horse or a pony is by measuring there hight when fully grown, which is usually about 1year (a yearling). If a equine is above 15 hands or 152cm from hoof to shoulder then it is a horse, if it is below this then it is a pony.

I think that you have the different types of equine. There are light, draft and pony. So, in all reality most likely you have ponies in one area, draft in another and light in the next. Light would be considered Paint horses, American Saddlebred, and others. I was in three classes involving equine, so I'm pretty good when it comes to equine knowledge, I'm not prefect of course lol still learning. But I could see Arabian horses to be living in Saddle Arabia instead of ponies growing up to be horses because well... That just doesn't happen by nature. That's my thoughts

There are different types of ponies, their are draft ponies and draft horses and though ponies can be a term to a young horse or a pony breed, I believe the show is referring to a horse that is 11 hands or lower also it can be a colt, filly, gelding or mare for young to old horses

This is the interesting part:
Saddle Arabia is interesting in the fact that it alludes to Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabia being where Arabian horses originate from, hence their name "Arabian". If you google Arabian horse, you'll find a bunch of pictures of them, but in general they have a dished face, a high carried tail and a beautiful flowing step, they are very graceful with many breeds carrying Arabian blood within them these days.
If you look at the Saddle Arabia delegates, you can tell they are modeled after Arabian horses, their slightly dished face, and more horse like features than the other ponies. So they are the only horses in the show. Twilight and co. are all shorter than the Arabian horses as seen from boast busters. However, what's more fascinating is that the other three princesses, especially Celestia are as tall as the Arabian horses... which means that technically alicorns are horses???

This is the boring technicalities:
The technical difference between a horse and a pony is that a horse is 14.2 hands or taller and a pony is shorter than 14.2 hands.
Ponies have the characteristics of being relatively stronger and more study, they tend to have shorter legs in proportion to their bodies and also look more scruffy in general, although this does vary within breeds. The earth ponies most closely resemble real life ponies in their strength. Unicorns mostly resemble horses with their grace and beauty (Rarity).
MLP ponies will never be horses, they are too short.
Also:
foals: 0-1 years old
yearling: 1 years old
filly (female) /colt (male): 1-4 years old
mare / stallion / gelding: 4+ years old

As to the CMC alluding to horses, I do believe they are referring to draft horses, generally the strong heavy type that pulled heavy carts in 18th century London. "Hearts as strong as horses".

I think that, just like the theory of Spike being an eternal baby dragon, ponnys grow up different, that could explain why Dr whoves and Big Mc are diferent, even knowing that Dr Whoves could be older than BM, but still shorter.

Ponies and horses are completely different classes(in some cases species) but it primarily realized on height rather than age. Horses are tall and ponies are not. There's a specific height at which ponies reach horsehood but I can't remember it off the top of my head... Take this example; a Shetland pony can be 43 years old and a race horse can be 7 years, but since the race horse is taller and thus at least the specified height, it is considered a horse rather than a pony.

I disagree with your never land idea because when Luna first breaked out of her nightmare moon form she was little an small. Yet like a few episodes later, she has gained her flowing hair and is as tall as celistia. Instead, I think that equestria is based off of The United States because... 1. All the puns. "Manehatten" is a play on words for manhattan, and where is manhattan located? The USA. Cantrolot could be like the big apple because they are similar with population and stores!

You have some good ideas, but based, I think, off some misinformation. You seem to be under the impression the horses are adult versions of ponies. In fact, ponies are actually a subset of horse species that are small (less than 14.2 hands, according to Wikipedia) as an adult. A horse is a horse its whole life, regardless of height when it's a foal. 
You also brought up a point about saddles being human tools. In Equestria, they seem to be decorative or the equivalent of jackets. Twilight puts one on in the intro to Winter Wrap Up. As for Iron Will, he doesn't have any uniquely human characteristics. He's more like an anthropomorphic bull than half human and half bull. There's also the fact that the creators of the show have stated that humans don't exist in the universe of MLP, but those statements aren't completely canon.

I think that each continent, or country, in Equestria has its own kind of creature. Like the territory where Canterlot and Ponyville are might be where ponies are found, and maybe Zecora is some sort of immigrant from another country in Equestria, like the equestrian Africa.

I think that, although I really love your channel, I can allow me to dislike this video this once for several reasons :
1. You present the fact that ponies are ful-growned as a theorie, that means that you doubt of it, whereas it is a FACT !
2. You contradict it with simple plays on words and another theorie that MEANS NOTHING ! If the ponies from Saddle Arabia were horses, and then older than ponies, that should be felt on the relationship between the both. Moreover, you can't estimate a pony's age only based on a shape. And why would they have serious and lucrative jobs if they're just kids ?
3. You cannot say that the egs are cannon,
4. and you can even less intriduce them in Equestria !

Horses and ponies are different species, the two species are related but don't turn into one or another as they age. The ponies from saddle araibia have a different DNA structure making them look more like real horses in there universe ( example in friendship through the ages)

there are diferent species of equines in that world, some are smaler and cute (but reach adulhood) and some are bigger. And dont feel bad about calling pony a horse that is growing, many people do it.

i like to think of the mlp generations as a timeline and in earlier generations in mlp there WERE humans (although odd and creepy)
but there aren't any in modern equestria therefore humans MUST be an extinct species and saddles are just leftover from that time period

Id like to see an episode were they go to a human kingdom and see the wars we have with one another based on race and religion and are disgusted at us eating meat. (possibly having Twi freaking out what hamburgers are made from from equestria girls) the whole episode could revolve around how war while necessary should only be done as a last resort and not the good to solution like most of the world in the dark ages but their are many ways humans existing in the world could play out and if they do so I'll look forward to seeing it happen

Perhaps saddles are only a stylish choice of the delegates and the other ponys/horses (whatever) at Saddle Arabia. I mean at Equestria there are gowns like those Rarity is making, so I think it's just a thing they are used to. As in our world, not every human wears the same outfits (e.g pants/quilts) it could be the same in Equestria (qowns/saddles). Just sayin'...

In the 1989 series there was the human Megan who visited the ponies from time to time. I'm still waiting for her to make an appearance. You may be on to something.

What about Granny Smith? In one episode that (I can't remember the name) she shows her family when she moved to ponyvile and when she was a filly there. Obviously, she has grown up.

I know this is an older video, but - A pony isn't a young horse, they're basically different breeds as far as I understand. They're the same species, but ponies are traditionally smaller, have shorter legs, and thicker manes/tails, etc.

3: The idea of Equestria being like never land wouldn't make sense because we have seen throughout the show (using flashbacks) the main six grow up.

I think of the ponies as being like the hobits from The Lord of The Rings. And Celestia and Luna are like the elves from The Lord of The Rings. But Twilight is an immortal hobit. The Saddle Arabia horses are like the average sized humans of that world.

the horses from sadle arabia are arabians and most of the time t are horses. A pony is litterally a horse that's smaller than 1.48 ( in the netherlands is 1.58) from the moment they reach that height they are considerd a horse. So i guess it's the same in Equestria no?

The only difference between a horse and a pony is height. Both are members of Equus ferus caballus. Think of them like you think of dogs. A chihuahua is different from a great dane but they are both canines. They can inter breed and produce fertile offspring. Just like there are different breeds of dogs that are different sized and shapes there are different breeds of horses that differ in appearances as well. Its only a matter of classification and physical standards breed association set that separates them.

An adult pony in real life is any horse under 14 hands 2 inches. If a foal grows beyond that they count as a horse. Thats why there are breeds of pony because people have found that certain types of horse never grow tall enough to be horses.

Two, the humans are at a castle staying hidden from the ponies of Equestria because in the first movie Celestia says: "You will soon know more about this place than even I do" and when the delegates are there, Twilight has not yet GONE TO THE HUMAN WORLD! So any chance of them KNOWING what a human is, is unlikely AT ALL COSTS because Celestia has never heard or seen a human in the years she has been alive (have we not thought of how old Celestia is? Because she was obviously an adult banishing Luna to the moon?) So, in conclusion, Humans are a possibility in Saddle Arabia because, well, SADDLES!
