Podcijenjen album. Zahvaljujući PA, 4 Visions je bio moj prvi Zeuhl album i nikad neću požaliti što sam započeo istraživanje Zeuhl svemira s ovim, a ne Magmom. Ovo je zapravo jedna od najboljih ploča koje sam ikada čuo do sada, Zeuhl ili na neki drugi način. Budući da je očito bio pod utjecajem Magme*, Eskaton je uspio stvoriti vlastiti originalni, jedinstveni zvuk. Rezultat je suptilna međuigra zapanjujuće glazbe i šarmantnih ženskih vokala. To je magija. I sviđa mi se. Jako. Istina je da je Eskaton daleko dostupniji od Magme, a glavni razlog je što je glazba vrlo izražajna. Razlozi koji su 4 Visions učinili točno izražajnom glazbom su ekstremna kvaliteta aranžmana, izvanredno muzičarstvo, mekši vokal (u usporedbi s Magmom naravno), te apsolutni nedostatak mana na cijelom albumu (pokušajte i nećete naći ništa što se čini ili zvuči 'pogrešno'). Osim toga, ukupni učinak nekako je uspio biti ne tako čudan i izvan ovog svijeta kao što je bio s Magmom. Zapravo, to mi je došlo kao iznenađenje, jer mislim da je stvarni glazbeni sadržaj ovdje, u najmanju ruku, ne manje složen od Magme, definitivno složeniji od, recimo, MDK-a, što je bio potpuno suprotan slučaj - prilično jednostavan u smislu glazbenih struktura, ali iznimno teško slušati (za mnoge, a ne za mene ipak; zapravo, 'dobio' sam MDK na drugom slušanju, 4 Visions - na trećem). Brži glazbeni razvoj, puno tema koje se ne ponavljaju (za razliku od ponavljanja) i ukupni učinak ugodni su i 'čudni' na pozitivan način, a ne u najboljem slučaju plašeni i 'čudni' na neutralan način, pa nije li Eskatonova glazba manje 'duboka', već 'progresivnija' i kompliciranija? S određene točke gledišta, možda. Ipak, istina je da je Eskatonovu glazbu lakše slušati i ući, a već sam objasnio zašto (glazba je izražajna), pa je istina i da je 4 Visions SAVRŠEN uvod u Zeuhl žanr. Da trebam nekoga uplašiti ili stvarno impresionirati, išao bih s MDK-om. Ući u Zeuhl? 4 vizije. To je to.

Attente , Attente. Nemam prijedloga što se tiče 'konceptualne' vrijednosti prve 'svemirske' minute. Ostalo je nevjerojatno. Ovo je vjerojatno najsloženija skladba na albumu, što se tiče glazbene složenosti ili teškog aspekta. Sastav se eventualno može podijeliti u četiri uvjetna dijela, a najbolji je definitivno treći dio. U ovom trenutku vokali su melodični i počinju otkrivati svoju ljepotu. Raspoloženje glazbe varira od šarmantne ljepote (cortesy vokala) do suptilne nastranosti, bilo da se radi o tome kako zvuče intsrumenti/vokali ili što sviraju/sviraju. I na kraju, nakon što prođete tu nevjerojatnu progresiju akorda... što reći o očitom emocionalnom vrhuncu, dijelu u 4:46-6:13 i njegovom daljnjem još ogromnom ponavljanju na kraju? Ovo su neke od najšarmantnijih, najzahladnijih i hipnotičkih stvari koje sam ikada čuo (razlog je način na koji glasovi zvuče i melodija koju pjesme). 4 Visions je nedavno ponovno objavljen od strane Soleil Zeuhl etikete. Sve pjesme su remasterirane s origianl master vrpci (pa pretpostavljam da je izdanje iz 1995. temeljeno na toj vrpci iz 1979., a ne na master trakama tada), reissue uključuje i četiri unaprijed nepoznate bonus pjesme iz doba Icarea. An underrated album. Thanks to PA, 4 Visions was my first Zeuhl album and I will never regret starting to explore the Zeuhl universe with this, not Magma. This is actually one of the best records I’ve ever heard so far, Zeuhl or otherwise. Being obviously influenced by Magma *, Escaton was able to create his own original, unique sound. The result is a subtle interplay of stunning music and charming female vocals. It's magic. And I like it. Very. It is true that Escaton is far more accessible than Magma, and the main reason is that the music is very expressive. The reasons that made 4 Visions exactly expressive music are the extreme quality of the arrangement, the outstanding music, the softer vocals (compared to Magma of course), and the absolute lack of flaws on the whole album (try and you won’t find anything that seems or sounds ‘wrong’). In addition, the overall effect somehow managed to be not as strange and out of this world as it was with Magma. In fact, it came as a surprise to me, because I think the actual music content here is, to say the least, no less complex than Magma, definitely more complex than, say, MDK, which was the complete opposite - pretty simple in terms of music structure, but extremely difficult to listen to (for many, not for me though; in fact, I ‘got’ the MDK on the second listening, 4 Visions - on the third). Faster musical development, lots of themes that don’t repeat themselves (as opposed to repetitions) and overall performance are pleasant and ‘weird’ in a positive way, not at best scary and ‘weird’ in a neutral way, so isn’t Escaton’s music less ‘ deep ’, but‘ more progressive ’and more complicated? From a certain point of view, perhaps. Still, it’s true that Escaton’s music is easier to listen to and enter, and I’ve already explained why (the music is expressive), so it’s also true that 4 Visions is the PERFECT introduction to the Zeuhl genre. If I needed to scare someone or really impress, I would go with MDK. Enter Zeuhl? 4 visions. That's it.
* - Continuing to compare Escaton with Magma, the closest Magma album I come across in terms of real music is Udu Wudu. The ultimate comparison? I prefer Escaton’s masterpiece over magma’s album which was oustanding after all.

Escaton, Escaton. How would I describe it in one word (as well as the whole album)? There is a word - 'Psychedelic'. Escaton won't bother you. This music and these women, as an organic part of the music, will not only make you an active listener. In fact, if you’re like me, the bass line will make you move. Bernardi is an outstanding bassist, and the other musicians are more than hospitable. The vocals sound rhetorical, not melodic. Groovy, rhytmic, and ‘weird’ (in the best possible sense; but again, it’s not out of the world weird). 4.5 / 5
Attente, Attente. I have no suggestions as to the ‘conceptual’ value of the first ‘space’ minute. The rest is amazing. This is probably the most complex track on the album, in terms of musical complexity or a difficult aspect. The composition can possibly be divided into four conditional parts, and the best is definitely the third part. At this point the vocals are melodic and begin to reveal their beauty. The mood of the music varies from charming beauty (cortesy vocals) to subtle weirdness, whether it’s how the instruments / vocals sound or what they play / play. I don't insist on the size of it, "only" that this composition is great. 4.7 / 5
Ekoute. Somehow, a huge blend of the first two songs. All the best is here, in these 13 minutes of pure Joy / Zeuhl / Prog / Music. Maybe a little too weird ‘joy’ for some, I don’t know. Detail for Escaton hardcore (if any): listen to the melody in the introduction (0: 00-0: 33). Have you ever noticed that in the central part, where the song starts from the beginning, at 7: 30-7: 59, she * sings exactly the same melody? The reason why it was so hard to notice is that there was no rhyme in the introduction and so the melody was experienced in an absolutely different way. It was an amazing discovery for me at the time. And finally, after going through that incredible chord progression ... what about the obvious emotional climax, the part at 4: 46-6: 13 and its further yet huge repetition at the end? These are some of the most charming, chilling and hypnotic things I’ve ever heard (the reason is the way the voices sound and the melody you sing). Although my mind still thinks it’s focused on form rather than content, this is one of the few things that probably stuck in my head forever. A piece like this was enough to make this album a masterpiece. 5/5
* - What a magnificent duet, singing graces, Amara and Paula. One has ... a 'stronger' voice, and the other - a 'softer'. Their voices play with each other just as perfectly as with music. It’s a shame I don’t really know who’s saying what. So that's it.
Drink, drink. Slower, softer, even more melodic, the vocals begin to play an almost dominant role. For me, it’s an ideal example of ‘relaxation’, and yet music. 4.5 / 5
