Actually, Bill Cipher has been in the background numerous times in season 1, you just didn't know to look for him back then. For instance, he appeared on an arcade machine in 'Fight Fighters', on the negative 12 dollar bill the president gave Dipper in 'Irrational Treasure', and on a card seen when Dipper and Mabel first use the time machine they stole from Blending Blandin in 'The Time Traveller's Pig'.
What I really liked about the show was the codes they gave every episode. The first season just had simple silly stuff like "Brought to you by Homework: the candy" or "Not H.G.Wells Approved" (the clue to solve them was that whisper in the intro which, when reversed would say things like "three letters back" to explain how to solve them. But the end of season one and season two really stepped things up with more difficult clues leading to more ominous messages.
The last episode of season one had clues that translated to "Bill is watching" "Reverse the cyphers" and "Search for the blindeye". Which were hints to clues hidden in the shorts that came out between seasons.
And season 2 began with some ominous clues. The main one being: THE MAN DOWNSTAIRS IS VERY CLEVER CAN HE HIDE HIS PLANS FOREVER?
OK this episode was amazing I’m glad you did season two so early and when they sang karaoke to the zombies I’m like yeah Rainbow Rocks all over again nothing beats the magic of friendship
And here we go with the awesome season that makes Gravity Falls memorable. Great reaction. Idk if you'd like to see the cipher messages for each episode but I'm gonna say them for this one : SEARCH FOR THE FLAG WHY IS WENDY SO PERFECT KILL ME PLEASE WATCH OUT WELCOME BACK THE MAN DOWNSTAIRS IS VERY CLEVER, CAN HE HIDE HIS PLANS FOREVER?
Bill has always been there, it's always fun to watch back on episodes. Noticing all the symbols hidden in plain site is always interesting

"Uh, Mabel, our lives may not be worth this" may be the best quote from this episode.

Triangles have been everywhere all the time in season 1, but only once you know about Bill you really started noticing them.
0 likesTechnically speaking the finale is four episodes, but the part one is a keymash title.
1 likeAlso, we get some big reveals up to the Mid-Season Finale that will really change the fabric of the show.

I always think of the final four episodes as an epic movie. One of my all-time favorite finales ever.
