I do like the duo, and I wish they weren't hated as much. In fact, I feel for them.... TuT I have low self-esteem as well, and I like to take things slow, so I do identify with Snails a lot. Plus, I could do things that others couldn't even when I was young due to having to take care of both my mom and my li'l bro at the time. Snips.....He's cool too. ;)

I never really hated Snips and Snails ^^' I found them interesting characters from the start. There's always more than meets the eye, and so I'm glad you posted this. One thing I want to add, though, is that Snails may not be as slow as everyone thinks. After all, he was the first and only unicorn foal (until A Bad Seed) who seems able to do magic, as he was the only one shown. Magic is apparently really hard for a Unicorn to learn, especially at the foals' ages, but Snails, with a little bit of trouble, managed a light spell. He must have picked up magic from somewhere, and to be using it so young when others can't, he may actually be a genius. This is simply because he has figured out how to do something no one else in his age group can do.
Wow you were onto something! Snails is revealed later to use his lack of thinking to his advantage, allowing him to use the low tier spell levitation at a proficiency level that rivals Twilight. I'd never even thought about his light spell being unusual at the time, but it makes more sense now with what we know.
My headcanon of these two improved because of three things. Inspiration Manifestation, Equestria Girls, and Fallout Equestria. I'm of the opinion that the puppeteer in IM is Snips father, but unlike most of the theories being batted around, my headcanon was Snips grew up around his father's puppets and became good at something like cutting out costumes for them. I gravitated to scissors being used in clothes making because I like the idea of Snips having a skill that is commonly given over to girl characters. His father is obviously very picky so he probably doesn't support Snip's skills, and combined with it being a "girly" skill, Snips might be burying it and thats why we never see it show up in the tv series. Fallout Equestria, without giving away spoilers, expanded their characters to show that Snips is protective of Snails, supporting him despite his mental slowness. Snails in that light made me think of Goofy when he's portrayed along with Donald and Mickey. A pal who's not too bright. These two are best friends and I respect their bond. And I think human Snails is kinda cute. It makes his freckles bigger and his dress sense is kinda oddly academic considering he's the slow one. One would think seeing the tv series he would be a slob, but he's very neat and tidy looking.

I can say this is actually a good assumption, I'm even a bit like them! I'm normally the one making jokes or smiling or laughing at almost anything but I have a REALLY low self-esteem so I tend to be the 'lil assistant' to other people cause I could never consider myself a leader material, obviously admiring the high self esteem people (for them trixie, sunset, etc.) and when something is trending is normally hard to not get my self involved at least for a little and I have, what you would say, 'two sides of a coin' I tend to be calm and slow at first 'mantainig the cool' a lot but once I am with a friend, I'm a little bubbly dynamite (snails and snips) so yeah, it's pretty plausible
I actually believe that the low self esteem you speak of might be caused by people not trusting they can do anything important as seen in the opening scene of flight to the finish were they state that maybe they would be the ones to carry the flag and everyone stares at them. Believe me, I know how deep that feeling goes.
If the writers ever explored this part of their characters ( I doubt they ever will) I would be over the mood

I watched "Boast Busters" again, and yeah, it seems like they just want be seen as "cool". Which is what anypony wants. They want to have friends, nopony wants to be see as comic relief or the joke ponies. Kinda like with Spike in "Power Ponies". I want these two to get more of a personality in season 5. If they get even one positive trait, I'm sure I'd like them more. Make it happen Hasbro!
well for me is a hit or miss,but not beacouse of there character,i enjoy it but the one problem i have is how they make the male gender look stupid or horrible,the acceptions i see are cheese sandwich,shining armor,flash-century and spike and others,but the writers mess up spike,granted they gave him episodes for character development*(and some damn good ones,crystal empire ring a bell?)* but the fact that other then a few episodes,hes mostly a punching bag and there are a few whritters that get spike right,and cheese sandwich is only one episode, cross your fingers for him in season 5 i get that show is MOSTLY aim at little girls and that i can cut some slack,and i dont care if the population is mostly female,heh thats there gender rate,i dont control that.and more than 51 % of earth population is female so thats fair and women had so much trouble in the past,i have no problem whatsoever whiff that,there world,not ours, but i don like it when my gender is represented by either scumbags or idiots mainly, i hate it when anime females are mistreated and they deserve respect and in characte and good representative of there gender so i expect the sam foor men there are good males and females and bad ones,so i dont expect them to be perfect,much less my own gender(male),just that they have ggood retturning characters is all

Snips & Snails’ character design is sort of reminiscent of that of Phineas and Ferb. But with the personalities of Chip and Dale, Laurel & Hardy Pinky and the brain, Horace & Jasper etc.

Even then, Derpy was a HUGE missed opportunity to show (much like in flight to the finish) ponies wouldn't treat someone who is/might be impaired.

Why are they not much liked in mlp fim? answer: because they are brothers snips and snails wasnt in season 1 i dont think but if they were they would be popular. 4 likesI didn't mind snips and snails until DERPY was blamed as being a stereotype and misrepresentation of the mentally handicapped. SHES CLUMSY, NOT STUPID. These two however, are just that. Stereotype and misrepresentation of the mentally handicapped. Even then, Derpy was a HUGE missed opportunity to show (much like in flight to the finish) ponies wouldn't treat someone who is/might be impaired.

BUT then people started to not like them in season one there popularity droped from 70% to 4% then season 2 came and they became unpopular This is why maybe tiny bit false.

Oh... maybe they are like Sweetiebelle pre Twilight Time, not being able to use magic... even in show stoppers they never really used unicorn magic... So if Scootaloo gets teased for no flying ability, then maybe the reason for Snips and Snails low self esteem is the fact that while they have their cutie marks, they have no defining magical ability that clasifies them as unicorns...
