Actually, it does hold water. Most likely Steller has visited him before. And Sunburst couldn't handle being nagged by her by mail as well. So hasn't read any mail from Sires Hollow since he left.

Nice theory, but doesn't hold water. Stellar Flare's stellar idea was to make sure he always had a plan AFTER he flunked out of magic school, so unless he flunked out really quickly, there's an important time gap there, and I doubt Starlight's room looked like that when she was in twin-tails backstory age. More likely, he moved away, and like most kids before email was a thing, she just didn't keep in touch.

As for your examples, Star Swirl taught Celestia and Luna back before he went to limbo, but we don't know what he's done since returning. Professor Flintheart was a character in a fictional novel set in the past. The school Mistmane attended existed over a thousand years ago, before the pillars' disappearance.

As for Twilight's school of friendship having a magic curriculum, I do not recall whether that had been established by this early point in season 8.

To summarize, I never said there could not be other magic schools in Equestria. I just did not know of any others that still existed in modern day Equestria that had been mentioned in the show.

I like to think that Sunburst and Sunset are brother and sister. More specifically Sunset is Big Sis.

I learned about this and just can't not talk about it now when I see it:

"Great minds think alike" is only half of the saying, and by cutting it in half it completely flips the meaning of it. Similar to how "one rotten apple" is supposed to be a relief, something that can be rooted out, when "one rotten apple *spoils the bunch*".
The full saying is "great minds think alike, but fools seldom differ". Thinking the same thing as somebody else isn't to either of your merit or demerit, it just means you agree and may be similar.

Not to detract from your comment though, it's just that these half-sayings get used a lot and have kinda lost their meaning.

I kinda like the part where Sunburst annoys his mom with the gate, and the Essence Pony chasing the others with her spray

Also You know that Starlight comic about her origins and childhood?
Dunno if the two could be put together into one Cohesive theory... but from it: he couldn't actually been abusive or neglectful towards her as a child, then, and wants to make up for it now. And her mom dieing could've pushed him more into this mindset, him trying to make up for BOTH of their absences in her life.
All of it still clinging to things he can't just keep or change from the past

Based on the mom and dad's problems and attachments, I'd like to think that Stellar Flare and Sunburst's dad are divorced and Starlight's mom passed away. (she could also be divorced, and he dead etc. but still.)

Like, Firelight clinging to the past not because of the disagreement but of something he really cannot control.
And Stellar Flare clinging to the future because maybe if she knew that it would've happened it could've been mended and fixed beforehand, but right now can't be...

Starlights mother could be dead. Would really explain her attachment to Sunburst.

My theory is that Firelight grew distant as a result of her death when Starlight was little , leaving her with nobody to be there for her, until Sunburst made friends with her and became something like a security blanket for her.

And explains why Firelights treats her like a foal when shes older. Trying to make up for not being there when she needed him most.

And perhaps explains why Starlight's EQG self sports an outfit that suits that room of hers.
