This episode makes me wonder if Gilda once saw her friendship with Rainbow Dash as something to hoard and keep others out of the picture. She was a total ass of course and her behavior of roaring at Fluttershy isn't forgiven in full yet, but she seemed really strict about keeping Pinkie Pie out of the picture beyond "I only like Rainbow Dash as a friend, and that's it." Kinda works with the fact of them being called almost as greedy as dragons. Growing up in Griffonstone only made her temper waver to become more of a jerk yet never to the point where RD would leave her. Then Pinkie came along and Gilda got defensive, specifically around her, seeing her as a threat to "steal" RD from her. Also shows why she was initially sure Pinkie was pranking her to make her look like a fool, she might have seen Pinkie as a threat to her friendship with RD. Of course her assumptions only made an ass out of her. I am glad this episode got her and RD to reconcile, but it sucks she never came back in the show with a speaking role. At least we did get Gabby though XD
Yay, Gilda’s nice now! Among the map episode’s, this is one of my top favorites. I’m actually glad that RD and Pinkie got the chance to reconcile with Gilda after all this time. I had hopes that Gilda would convert from being a jerk of a Griffon to a nicer one. And who can forget about seeing her as a fledgling in that flashback, she was freakin adorable! All in all, this episode is very good with its premise and the fascinating history of Griffonstone.
16:41 There is no king in Griffonstone anymore, so it's implied that there's no government or laws either. The no singing rule mentioned earlier is probably just an informal agreement that the song hating locals put into place without any official process. In other words, Griffonstone is an anarchist society.
0:35 "I've only seen one griffon in this show-- Actually, no, I saw them at the Equestria Games." There was also Gustav le Grande, one of the bakers from MMMMystery on the Friendship Express, near the end of season 2.
Fun Fact straight from Wikipedia! "The Arimaspi (also Arimaspian, Arimaspos, Arimaspoi, Ancient Greek: Αριμασπός, Αριμασποί) were a legendary tribe of one-eyed people of northern Scythia who lived in the foothills of the Riphean Mountains, variously identified with the Ural Mountains or the Carpathians.[1] All tales of their struggles with the gold-guarding griffins in the Hyperborean lands near the cave of Boreas, the North Wind (Geskleithron), had their origin in a lost work by Aristeas, reported in Herodotus." Basically, they were a race of Cyclopes who were constantly fighting a race of greedy Gryphons! Good one, MLP!
This is a great episode. The lore about Griffons is pretty cool. Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie have a great dynamic. Pinkie has a strange obsession with that statue.
@@winter2716 Well, he's just a cranky old bastard like the rest of everyone else with no hope of changing for the better in the town. Not much he did anything despicable, he just yelled at Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie "no refunds" and goes away.
I wouldn't fault it... in my head canon... Celestia isn't all sugar and rainbows. Just last episode she was laughing and having a hoot at some pony being sent to a new dimension.
Celestia and Discord ruled Equestria together in chaos until she got bored. Woot!

You don't know yet? :q 00:45 Oh this gonna be gud ;> 02:25 When the booty calls.... :J 03:58 Has met 1 Griffon and it turned out to be an asshole → all Griffons are assholes. Yeah, sounds logical :q 06:13 I get the "Turnabout Storm" vibes from this one :D Remember Rainbow Dash impersonating Fluttershy in it? ;D 10:10 Don't you think that if it were that easy, some Griffon would do that long time ago? ;J 01:17 MGCA, you say? (Make Griffonstone Cool Again) :q 11:55 So Griffonstone is pretty much Poland :q They have rich history and culture, but they lost the grip of it, and now they're all miserable because they got lost in bickering and fighting with each other, which made their economy to break down and their kingdom to degrade, and they're always looking for bits, because that's what they're missing the most right now (or at least that's what they think they're missing). 15:00 That's what poverty does with people. It's also the biggest crime-inducing factor. 16:42 There surely is. But what's the point of having laws if people don't see the point in obeying it? :q 16:48 That's because you have bits. One has to have empty pockets to understand why Griffons do what they do. 17:20 I literally spat my coffee when seeing that :D Best gag in this episode ;D It cracks me up every time ;) 17:56 She has. The problem is that she's too bitter about her last visit in Ponyville. 21:21 It may sound cheesy, but it's true. Money is false economy. It distracts people (and Griffons) from real value and slowly corrupts them. The true foundation of economy is people working together and trading their goods that they make with their own hands (or claws). Because in the end of the day, it's not politicians who actually build stuff and produce commodities – it's ordinary people. All that wealth comes from them, not from governments or banks. Too bad that so few people understand that in Human World (and Griffonstone). That's why the friendship lessons in MLP are deeper than it may seem at first glance ;J
How did they overwrite it? To me, this episode seems like the perfect organic follow-up to Griffon the Brush Off, with excellent continuity to boot (namely the Junior Speedsters song).
"Surely there has to be a law against abandoning someone to die in a ditch just because they don't have money! Griffons suck!" "Um...let's take an honest look at Republican plans for health care and housing in America..."
