Maybe they wanted to do music that isn't just related to ponies, so changing their name so it doesn't have pony in it could help with getting better known outside the fandom.
@VinylSnapz Music and Visuals I do have it as a backup. Right now though I will establish of what I want to do with the au name. Also general mumble yas many aliases under his name.
