If you ever plan to run Linux, I'd highly suggest the RX480 (or RX470) over anything else because newer AMD cards work great on Linux. But for Windows, you generally want to look at straight performance per $. The RX480/RX470 is a pretty good value right now, but some of the newer NVIDIA cards are pretty good too. I would NOT suggest buying a 980Ti unless you can get a good price on a used one (<$300 or so), because it's pretty outdated by this point.
Because this one was so long and I wanted to get it live ASAP, I uploaded it through Hitfilm's built in YouTube uploader (and it doesn't let you set any encoder settings), I don't usually do that though. For short videos I render to uncompressed AVI (because Hitfilm's encoder really sucks), then encode it to lossless x264 (crf 0) before uploading. I would have done that here but then it would have taken days to upload because my upload speed sucks. For everything else, if I don't need lossless, I use ffmpeg with "-c:v libx264 -crf:v 12 -tune:v film -profile:v high -preset:v veryslow". If I were doing it again I'd have done that for this video.
I have several for different purposes, but the computer used for this recording was built with a Xeon E5-1650v4, 64GB DDR4 ECC, and a GTX 980Ti. All my other systems run Linux and have similar specs but use Radeon RX480s instead of NVIDIA.
