Dio beskrajnog popisa bendova diljem područja Norwicha, Earthstone je započeo sredinom 80-ih kao projekt oko glavnog vođe bivšeg Ranata Spirita Chrisa Phillipsa.Regrutirao je još jednog talentiranog čovjeka podzemne britanske Prog scene, Silasa (Ibey) klavijaturista Chrisa Bonda, ali tek 1994. godine, kada je objavljen njihov debi. Phillips svira sve instrumente i pjeva, dok je Bond bio odgovoran za neke klavijature i sve programirane dijelove albuma. Njihov album ''Seed'' ugledao je svjetlo preko američke diskografske kuće Kinesis.I Phillips i Bond bili su uključeni u britanski Prog pokret 80-ih i njihovi utjecaji iz tog razdoblja vidljivi su na Earthstoneovom albumu. Pun synth akrobacija, uzvišenih gitarskih solaža i opsežnih pauza za klavijature, ''Sjeme'' leži na području Neo Proga, iako je zvuk raznolik, često iskričav laganim psihodeličnim dodirima i uglavnom elektronskim teksturama. Stvarno ne znam, ali produkcija me na neki način podsjeća na ove romantične dane sirovog, strastvenog Progressive Rocka na britanskim otocima, koji je prilično prosječan s pametnim tehničkim nedostacima, inače je dvojac očito još uvijek ukorijenjen u ovom srebrnom razdoblju Prog glazbe. Skladbe su prilično duge, učinkovite i uske s mnogim varijacijama i zapaženim utjecajima dvanaeste noći i PALLAS-a, iako mnogo više klavijaturistički natopljene, s izražajnim vokalima, proširenim sintesajzerskim vodovima i elektroničkim/simfonijskim orijentacijama sličnim QUASAR-u, STEVE HILLMANU i PROTOS-u. No, albumu nedostaju neke ozbiljne melodije, koje se gotovo isključivo grade oko promjena u temama klavijature, gitara u stilu 80-ih i proširenih, atmosferskih, filmskih odlomaka na dvostrukim sintesajzerima. Programiranje bubnjeva je ispod prosjeka i album je mogao biti stvarno bolji s pravim glazbenikom iza bubnjarskog kompleta. S druge strane, još uvijek zadržava duboku liriku grupa 80-ih u vokalnim dijelovima, a ovaj lijepi zvuk osjetljivih gitarskih linija, stopljen sa snažnim brazdama i stalnim prekidima klavijaturističkih tema, svakako je atraktivan.Službeno Earthstone se zapravo nikada nije raspustio, ali činjenica je bila da je Chris Bond nastavio sa svojom karijerom, formirajući Stealing the Fire (na čijem se jedinom albumu pojavljuje i Glen Phillips), dok je Phillips bio uključen i u kasnije bendove, kao što su Psychedelic/Space Rockers Iron Sun.''Sjeme'' je dobar, zagubljen album Neo Prog.It ispunjen klavijaturama mogao se lako snimiti i objaviti tijekom prve polovice 80-ih, razdoblja u kojem stilski pripada ''Sjeme''. Part of an endless list of bands across the Norwich area, Earthstone began in the mid-1980s as a project around former Ranat Spirit's lead leader Chris Phillips.He recruited another talented man of the underground British Prog scene, Silas (Ibey) keyboardist Chris Bond, but only in 1994, when their debut was announced. Phillips plays all the instruments and sings, while Bond was responsible for some keyboards and all the programmed parts of the album. Their album "Seed" saw light through the American record label Kinesis.Both Phillips and Bond were involved in the British Prog movement of the 80s and their influences from that period are visible on Earthstone's album. Full of synth stunts, sublime guitar solos and extensive keyboard breaks, "Seed" lies in the Neo Progo area, although the sound is varied, often sparkling with light psychedelic touches and mostly electronic textures. I really don't know, but the production kind of reminds me of these romantic days of raw, passionate Progressive Rock on the British Isles, which is pretty average with clever technical flaws, otherwise the duo are clearly still rooted in this silver era of Prog music. The compositions are rather long, effective and narrow with many variations and notable influences of twelfth night and PALLAS, albeit much more keyboard-soaked, with expressive vocals, extended synthesizers and electronic/symphonic orientations similar to QUASAR, STEVE HILLMAN and PROTOS. But the album lacks some serious melodies, which are almost exclusively built around changes in keyboard themes, '80s-style guitars and extended, atmospheric, film passages on double synthesizers. The drum programming is below average and the album could have been really better with the real musician behind the drum kit. On the other hand, it still retains the deep lyricism of 80s groups in vocal parts, and this beautiful sound of delicate guitar lines, blended with powerful grooves and constant interruptions of keyboard themes, is certainly attractive. Officially Earthstone never really disbanded, but the fact was that Chris Bond continued his career, forming Stealing the Fire (whose only album includes Glen Phillips), while Phillips was also involved in later bands, such as Psychedelic/Space Rockers Iron Sun." Seed" is a good, misplaced album neo Prog.It filled with keyboards could easily be recorded and released during the first half of the 80s, the period in which the "Seed" belongs stylistically. Mais l’album manque de mélodies sérieuses, qui sont presque exclusivement construites autour de changements de thèmes de clavier, de guitares de style des années 80 et de passages cinématographiques étendus et atmosphériques sur des synthétiseurs doubles.
