THE PROBLEM IS: If you don't get updates, your computer will be vulnerable.
While this used to be true, before Black Friday, I would agree with you, but since Black Friday, i've changed my mind about this rule of thumb...
Some Companies, such as Microsoft, I have started to find Fishy Activity lately, & am starting to find Trust Issues with them over Various claims I am finding in their Newer Updates... These Claims have led me to believe, Newer Updates are actually allowing the PC's to become even more Vulnerable then ever before, not making them more Secure... & I actually had felt that Windows 10 was already pretty secure to start with, so I never felt there was a Need for such an improvement to it's Security... The recent Change to it's Security, made absolutely no sense to me...
- Allowing a Customizable Sandbox like approach to Application Guard... - This Sandbox Approach allows Users to customize Application Guard's Security Platform - Again, this same Sandbox Approach also allows Hackers, Virus Threats, & such other People To Also Customize the Platform, too - Old Application Guard used to be in a Virtual Machine completely separate from Windows, Things can Get In, but nothing Gets Out - New Application Guard looks like it's connected to Windows, in a way that Things can get in, & yet also get Leaked Out - Microsoft has stated the claim that these Leaks can't possibly happen, & refuse to claim it's worst then the Old Application Guard - Microsoft, has demonstrated how the Old Application Guard works, but won't do so for the New Application Guard - The Microsoft Edge V.2.0, has gone more twards Chromium now, & away from it's Older V.1.0 Engine before which removes everything good about it - The Microsoft Edge V.1.0 uses Application Guard, & The Microsoft Edge V.2.0 Uses The more Application Guard & Sandbox Experience - The Sandbox Experience, would really only maybe Benefit anyone with serious Education of how Security works (Hackers & Virus People are Deffinately in this Category) - There seems to be no Proof, that the New Application Guard & Sandbox Experience actually Protects PC's from Hacks & Viruses Leaking Into the Systems - Old Application Guard = Prevents Infected Downloaded Files, Hackings, & Scams from Reaching any PC Systems, They Effect a Virtual Platform that Kills Them Instantly - Old Application Guard = Seems to be Tied only to a Virtual Platform that isn't part of your PC System - New Application Guard = Seems to be a Joint Relationship between a Virtual Platform, & part of your PC System, through a Customizable Sandbox Experience - New Application Guard = Is much more Customizable, then the Old Application Guard, but there is no Proof that it's more Effective for an (Average User Friendly Experience)

@@RileyInkTheCat That doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to decide by myself when to install updates of the operating system I purchased with my money that runs on my machine. If Microsoft gifts me a new computer and a windows license I will let them decide when to update.
For people who actually want to do this, go ahead, but honestly, Windows updates never bother me, if Windows needs to update, I always set it to update sometime after I go to sleep, so the next day, my system will be up to date.
The problem arises when you need to get work done on the computer, you need to restart quickly for some reason, but a feature update gets in the way. Or if you, like me, leave the pc to download stuff at night and come back the morning after only to find out the macine rebooted and all your downloads are trash.
I think that it isn't necessary to delete completely updates from Windows. I only have the automatic updates group policy configured and Windows won't annoy me never again, and I'm able to search manually updates if I want
I see too many people here saying "No updates, no security". Then, I'll ask y'all this: how many of you don't have Protection Software on your PC (excluding Windows Defender)? How many of you have Confidential Information that hackers would want to find vulnerabilities in your router, protection software and then in the Windows OS?
Why would someone do that? I mean yes notifications are annoying and stuff but they are necessary and you should not skip them. There is a reason why Microsoft made them mandatory.
@@vasilist They push corrective updates and say it will never happen again, but still thousands of people (including my Windows 10 VM) had their user profiles deleted by October update... Being on the bleeding edge of updates is always risky no matter what platform are you using. With previous versions of windows you could just delay them a bit until the news of a disaster came out, now you can't anymore. Besides, I bought Windows and my PC with my money... I want to be able to decide when to update...

Users should not be forced to Upgrade to more powerful PC's, to Fix Problems like this, it should be a Choice to Upgrade PC's by Users These are just some of the reasons, people are looking into things like, such as Manually Modifying Windows, so it can't Update anymore... It's to protect Users from very big Trusted Companies, that are starting to show signs of Trust Issues with their Customers Not to cause Vulnerability, & other problems for Users
TBH i just simply changed the account that the windows update services logged into to a standard account, so that they can't modify the system thus not applying the update, because they can't log in as LOCAL SYSTEM or any other privileged accounts. This is better in my opinion, because you can still "re-enable" updates if you ever need to, where as the method used here is more permanent
Microsoft should disable the network stack when Windows Update is not running to prevent users from accessing the internet with their infected bot machines...

@Noah WIll You can install windows for free if you have another computer (or by using your parent's/friend's one) and a usb flash drive, just download the installer from their website, download an app called rufus and install the installer to the usb flash drive. Then put the usb flash drive to your computer and you should be able to use it to install windows or even repair the previous installation. There are a lot of videos online. Oh well, the cd probably came by now.

I don't know if this is a joke or not, but at the costs of getting a wooosh on me, macs are not invulnerable, malware for MacOS exists and its actually increasing with the popularity of the platform.

@Noah WIll You can install windows for free if you have another computer (or by using your parent's/friend's one) and a usb flash drive, just download the installer from their website, download an app called rufus and install the installer to the usb flash drive. Then put the usb flash drive to your computer and you should be able to use it to install windows or even repair the previous installation. There are a lot of videos online. Oh well, the cd probably came by now.

I don't know if this is a joke or not, but at the costs of getting a wooosh on me, macs are not invulnerable, malware for MacOS exists and its actually increasing with the popularity of the platform.
