Basically, if you chose to time travel to reverse an event which has already happened, if you returned back to the present, you wouldn't have the motivation to time travel and alter the timeline, thus you get sucked into a time loop and can never succeed in your goal.

Basically, if your sole reason to go back in time is to do or stop something, then in the timeline, you wouldn't need to go back in time to stop or do it, thus you wouldn't have went back in time to begin with, and the timeline from that point would be constantly resetting itself.

If he went back in time and won, he never goes back in time again and there is no eternal loop. If he goes back in time again however, he can fix that, but he'd have to keep doing that over and over again, but since he did that once and was never motivated to do the eternal loop he ends up losing and there is no eternal loop. If he want's to win he must do that eternal loop but he didn't know that so he ended up losing anyway. Hope that clears things up! =)

0 likesBasically, if you chose to time travel to reverse an event which has already happened, if you returned back to the present, you wouldn't have the motivation to time travel and alter the timeline, thus you get sucked into a time loop and can never succeed in your goal.

In the new reality where you did not drink the milk, you never went back in time to change your decision to not drink the milk, meaning that you drank the milk, so you go back in time and try to fix it. It creates a never ending cycle.

Thus, not travelling back in time would make the bread go mouldy, meaning that you would have a reason to go back in time, and this would loop back and forth constantly, forever.
