Space guitar passages are the strongest feature in their music, as are good flute and saxophone passages. They have 6 albums, of which "Humanum Est" is considered their best effort. - Bruno Aun ... Aera comes from a great tradition of Bavarian jazz-rock oriented progressive bands such as Embryo, Missus Beastly, Munju, Moira, etc., with a style unique to the area, originating as a very inventive fusion band, with strong percussion , driving rhythms and plenty of space for solo performances of guitar, saxophone and flute. Led by Muck Groh, they recorded two albums: HUMANUM EST, which featured the most professional instrumental band with a strong identity, with multi-layered guitar riffing and close to ever-present wind solo performances, and then, HAND UND FUSS, which was a little more diverse due to the addition violin and Lucky Schmidt who dealt with stronger rhythms in jazzier fiction ... - "The Crack In The Cosmic Egg" Aera from Munich belonged to a group of bands with close ties to Embryo (others were Missus Beastly, Lightning, Real Ax Band, Snowball and some more). Several members of this band often exchanged bands with each other during their existence. Not surprisingly, everyone played a similar and typical musical style, a kind of German fusion / jazz rock with a strong saxophone and flute. This kind of music is so dominant on all Aera LPs because they haven’t changed too much over the years. If anyone likes Embry in the mid-1970s (with Mal Waldron and Charly Mariano), before they entered the ethno-field, one could try i. - Achim Breiling, New Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive Rock ... After 1972. left Ihre Kinder focused on the flute, guitarist Muck Groh founded jazz-rock Aeru. Similar to sounding like a mid-period embryo, Ihre Kinder relied heavily on flutes and saxophones. The band's first album, instrumental Humanum Est, was written entirely by a guitarist. However, at the time of their second album Hand Und Fuss (1976), the band's musical leadership shifted to saxophonist and flutist Klaus Kreuzeder, who included vocals on some of his songs. Although the group disbanded shortly after a second-year effort, Kreuzeder reformed the group in 1978. - Geoff Orens, AMG AERA is a little-known band from a small Bavarian village called "Mechelwind" (hence the title of one song on their second album). Much like the associated members of the band EMBRYO came and went, but originally the band consisted of guitarist Muck Groh (IHRE KINDER), bassist Dieter Bauer (2066 and then), drummer Wolfgang Teske and Klaus Kreuzeder in a wheelchair on saxophone and flute. They have released a total of four studio albums and one live one with changing lineups and exhibiting different musical styles. Their first two releases which can be obtained as a 2-in-1 CD (which is a very valuable purchase that I luckily happen to own) basically reveal a lively jazz-rock sound from time to time with an extended jam not so far from EMBRY, KRAAN or NUCLEUS.
