Great reaction! There is another Madoka Movie announced, but with no release date as far as I know. So yes, Rebellion is the end for now! I also apologize for the probably massive wall of text following :D
I think it's pretty normal to be confused by this movie. I watched it maybe half a dozen times, and I'm sure there is stuff I also still don't know or haven't noticed. A few remarks:
- About Homura and why she did what she did at the end: the key for her decision to try to "drag Madoka down from Heaven" was the scene with her and Madoka in the flower field. Madoka here states that she would never do something that would take her away from everyone she loves. Homura takes that to mean that she regrets sacrificing herself to become the Law of the Cycle and that she is unhappy with it. That's not wrong, but we have to keep in mind that while the Madoka in Homura's Labyrinth IS the real Madoka (Kyubey explained how), it is not ALL of Madoka. It's just the part of her that was "allowed" into Homura's Labyrinth, with no memories of becoming or being the Law of the Cycles. Who knows if the full Madoka would have said the same.
- About Sayaka and Bebe. Bebe was indeed a Witch in the original series, she was the Witch who ate Mami in Episode 3. I'm a bit surprised you did not recognize her second form (the giant caterpillar thing). However, in the new world after Madoka's sacrifice she was taken away by the Law of the Cycles and vanished from the world; the same applies to Sayaka (this was explicitly shown in Episode 12). I like to think that all Magical Girls after the Series basically get collected by Madoka before they can become Witches and basically all hang out with each other in some kind of Magical Girl Valhalla :D That's just my wishful thinking, no clue if that is the case. So Sayaka and Bebe are something like Angels to Madoka's God, and decided to help her out with collecting Homura.
- The ending. I won't lie, I was a bit upset at the ending, I just wanted Homura and Madoka to just finally be happy and together. After thinking about it, well, that kinda did actually happen :D Homura did indeed rewrite the universe, so the world we see at the end is not an illusion; it is the real world! She basically tore the person Madoka from the Law of the Cycles, and rewrote the world so that Madoka would be happy and (I think) unchanging. Not sure if Magical Girls still exist, though I assume the Wraiths (or the curses that cause Wraiths) are being handled by the Incubators (who don't like that one bit, as we saw in the after credits scene).
- As for why Homura even had the power to something like what she did at the end, there is a popular theory: Look at the wording of Homura's original wish from episode 10. She wishes to redo her meeting with Madoka and (now the important part) to become strong enough to protect Madoka. She heard Madoka say the things in the flower field, and became convinced that Madoka needed saving again - meaning that her wish was not fulfilled, and the power of her wish gave her the power to tear Madoka down from Heaven, to split the mortal and divine halves of the Law of the Cycles. Now you could wonder how her wish could be so strong - we know that the power of the wishes depend on the karmic destiny of the girl making the wish. Well - Homura's time looping essentially created the (almost) all-powerful goddess Madokami. I would argue that this feat would give Homura all the karmic destiny she would need in the end :D
There will be a fourth movie, a concept Trailer was "released" years ago, and the teaser last year. We're still waiting on a official trailer/release date~
Edit: Oh yeah, when I comes to "more madoka magica" there are spin off manga, like the Wraith Arc, and other magical girls, my favorite being "Tart Magica"
This is my first time seeing the movie, and... damn. I have never been so conflicted about an ending before. For Homura to become the ultimate evil in the name of love. Though from that final shot, Kyubey definitely looks like he's seen some shit.
Boycott SHAFT and Magia Record for Walpurgisnact Rising to be cancelled and for the Rebellion sequel to be remade into a series instead of a movie the other magical girls from the spin-off manga can be in it alongside the main cast! And Mami Tomoe has a boyfriend who would play an important role in the story!💖
Yo Ponybro have you reacted to the anime movies Your Name or A Silent Voice? For some reason I think you did and I think I remember watching your reactions to them but I don't see them uploaded when I search through your channel. I was just wondering if you did and maybe the uploads were deleted or something or maybe I'm just crazy. Anyway if you didn't watch them I definitely recommend them.
