Gintoki aka shiroyasha = white demon/white yaksha, not white knight, the translation is incorrect 😂

I am slightly dissapointed that your version of the sub titles doesn't explain the puns
for example the reccuring news reporter, Ketsuno-ana
The suffix ana means announcer or presenter. But Ketsu no Ana means asshole.

Or Katsura who is commonly called Zura, which he hates. Zura means wig and calling him Zura kinda implies his long hair is fake and that is basically why he is annoyed with that nickname.

There are way to many puns everywhere in the background to explain all of them, but I prefer the subs that at least try and give you a little info box. Really adds a lot.

And the most important pun is probably the title itself. Gintama. Gin means silver. Tama can mean soul, jewel or ball depending on the situation. It means Gin(toki)s soul or silver soul (like Sinpachi said in ep.3, Gins soul is a bit dim but shining, aka silver). However, Gintama is very close to Kintama. Kin means gold, but golden balls mean a very specific type of balls. I am sure you can imagine.
Just like show itself. Filled with beautiful methaphors, but never far from a stupid dirty pun.

More hijinks. And weirdness.
