@Ikazuchi-san Nope. There will be no "let's call it API" to reveal the games that are open on your PC. You can just use a VM. Also, nobody forces you to learn and nobody will cry if you don't pay attention to the online class. If you wanna do something else while having your mic and audio muted in zoom, WebEx etc, then go ahead.
I heard K-12 is just the same as public school, you to have to go to live lessons with your webcam on with other students.
The online school I went to didn’t do that, live lessons were optional, they had prepared pages (usually 5 or 10 pages) with links and quick quizzes at the end.

Watching “How to be Ninja” on the kitchen family PC with your 3 cousins after waiting 5 minutes for it to buffer. Man 2000’s kids were in a weird spot, we were exposed to technology but it wasn’t refined. Many of us as kids didn’t have consoles so we went outside a lot. We would hear of this ‘Youtube’ and then you’d go visit someone you knew who had enough money to afford wifi. Or if you had a neighbor with wifi, you’d just use theirs lol

I was in K12 from 4th grade all the way until I graduated high school and tbh you kinda forget about the computer after a while. Also a good chunk of it wasn't online, but in books.
@heymayday Teachers in the classroom can see what the students are doing and respond to it accordingly, but unless they have TeamViewer or some shit they have no control over them playing Minecraft in the background in a computer class. Yes, if you're self-disciplined you can control that easily as you describe, but in general most kids would probably not be that way. Unless they're accustomed to it perhaps, like the guy above described.
Homeschooled kid who did most of their learning online, here. My schooling was mainly done alone on my own personal computer except for math, which was my most challenging subject, and english. Did I mess around and look at memes? Oh yeah. But, I had a list of what I needed to accomplish by the end of the week and, no matter how much I’d mess around during ‘school time,’ I always did get my work done. Compare that to my days in Public School were I’d sit stuck on a math problem for an hour straight, constantly distracted by other kids around me, practically panicking, and near-tears because I couldn’t multiply anything other than my 5s and 10s facts in 5th grade. And that was while I was on Adderall. If anything, being in control of how and when I did my work has helped me learn time management skills and personal responsibility more than Public ever could. Thing is, when you’re homeschooled, if you futz around too much you’re just dragging school out longer and aren’t actually getting anywhere. In Public schools they have to worry about, in my school’s case, ~30 students cramming info for a big test. It’s the perfect environment for ADD kids like me to fall through the cracks and just barely get by.
Klutzy Ninja Kitty As an ADHD person, I think online learning would have made it a lot harder for me to productive. I say this based on my experiences trying to take care of online assignments for college. Granted, I always went to public school as a kid, so online learning doesn’t fall within my established habits for school, which makes it more difficult. But, even if I had switched earlier, I think I would have found the transition to be very difficult because I was already in the habit of doing things the public school way. Which isn’t to suggest that my public school experience was good; it wasn’t.
I remember a commercial of some kid getting out of the pool and hopping on one foot to get the water ou of his ear, but instead of water a bunch of numbers and symbols came out to represent forgetting what you learned in school during the summer, and that was hilarious to me.
@Eliczek clearly you have a fixed mindset then. Instead of getting upset when you fail a test or miss points in a test you should be thinking how can I improve and develop my thinking for next time.
@Zsolt Tildy Kids enjoying learning and thinking is directly proportional to the quality of the teachers you have at school. It you're lucky to have teachers that like their job and are capable to make students involved in the subjects then yeah you may have a good time. Then you have teachers who you can clearly read on their faces they don't care, leave some students behind, think massive amounts of homework is a good substitute to a good explanation of the subject etc. etc. then it's pretty hard making yourself like school.

papapizzababa ! I like school and did like it too. Yes, I know, but bullying or not fitting in... I did plenty of not fitting in. My elementary school had the least comprehensive and capable gifted program, and here I am and able individual who is doesn’t fit in. Personally elementary school can sometimes be one of the worst part about schools, and if you don’t have friends really, well you aren’t gonna fit in at all. Middle school allowed more flexibility, but it frustrated for its repetition of menial things. High school actually allowed for a variety of classes, maybe not to the level I was quite hoping for, but it was much better than before and a far cry from what I had before. School also offered me for a few years to escape my mother who was gradually losing it upstairs, and so as annoying as school could be, it feels like a bit of a refuge. The problem with bullying in my school wasn’t really there like I have heard about in other places, at least, it never affected me much personally, which I’m glad about. My motivation for saying this though is that some of us do in fact like school, and for good reason. I always had an interest in learning and have an intense curiosity for the world around me, and school (high school namely) allowed for this. I have a feeling you might disagree still that there might be worth in it from the aforementioned, but hear me out in a sec. I am not going to say it is the case (I’m not you guys) but looking at this, a few of you seem to have rather negative feelings towards it and that seems mainly you had it beaten out of you one way or another, be it bullying, it being boring, it being tedious. It seems you had the curiosity, but these all caused you guys to lose it, and I am sorry if that’s the case. If you can, and keep in mind I’m not telling you to, try and and find some of that glimmer of meaning in it amidst all the pain, I can promise you there is some purpose hidden in there. In conclusion thank you for you time if you read this.
Drake Smith it’s more the anxiety pain and stress that comes with school. I have just finished my senior year now and gladly I am done, and hopeful that college will be different, but the quality of the education most people receive I would say is bad in the US. They assign a lot of busy work and just put soooo much unnecessary stress and pressure on us and the worst part is that it really does not help us learn at all. It’s only made me spiteful of school and has caused me to have some mental breakdowns and its all for nothing when you think about it. It might have just been me since I have a tendency to over complicate things and stress over little things, but school legit felt like hell. I am glad that at least someone was able to enjoy it. I was homeschooled with K12 from 1st to 5th grade, and while the material was good, and usually more advanced than what’s learned in public school, you did have to teach yourself. I don’t remember a lot of it, HOWEVER I do know that because of my mom’s decision to homeschool me, giving me little interaction with peers, I now have the social skills of a dog who’s never gone to a dog park. I have immense anxiety talking to people, and I have trouble studying/completing assignments in public school. I just graduated high school, but I had to adapt so fast to public school so I didn’t get torn apart by my peers.
@S M yeah I definitely think as a parent if your gonna have you child stay home for school, it's your responsibility to give them a social outlet atleast. My friend switched to online learning after getting bullied at school for highschool, but he atleast had a youth group he would attend where he made friends in the afternoon and he said it helped keep him sane from just staying home and talking to no one but his family. I think this is especially important in elementary since that's when our brain develops the most so social interaction is crucial.

@Nιɠԋƚɱαɾҽȥ School is really just a way to filter out all the chaos in children and slowly break their spirit so that when they enter the workforce they don't have the motivation to be more than a wage slave. Schools were founded on big corporations lobbying for a system that could create factory workers. Schools teach children how to work in a rigid, unchanging system. Due to this nature, it's attempts at adapting to modern culture fall flat and make it appear as a malicious passive aggressive force that determines our future cold heartedly.
Me: If tons of homework each day, massive final projects near the end of the school year (private school gang),sleep deprivation, demotivation, and procrastination especially with online learning is happening so often, then OF COURSE NOT, NO I AM NOT HAPPY WITH SCHOOL.

Dude I went to K12 and let me just say- my experience was horrible. I joined in 2nd grade, and from then on I was bullied heavily. (Tuesday, when we went to the campus and met our teachers and stuff) all the way to 6th grade. The actual schooling was kinda bad as well. It was a level above what you were supposed to learn, and it’s one of the hardest schools in California.
i remember my parents tried to sign me up for k-12 but because of the state we live in they said we had to pay $500 for the books and i was so pissed because i had to go to public school. i’m so glad i went to public school and learned to not be a nerd lmao

I remember this commercial, as a kid, and actually WANTED my parents to enroll me into that. But they wouldn't. They didn't want to home-school me, or otherwise. I found the public education system stifling.
I remember all these commercials. They'd air on Nickalodean around the year 2013 or so. I remember seeing the first one and would be in visible anger when it would come on because it's one of those commercials they'd play on EVERY single ad break.
“Is your child happy in school” Parent: “he’s very happy in school” Child in school: was bullied constantly, teachers treated him like shit, constant anxiety, burn out and stress from all the work, no friends

I used K12 from 5th-8th grade, and it’s even MORE work than public school. But I was having problems at my elementary school so it was the best choice.
I went to K12 my freshman year and spent about 2 years in it. You definitely get used to being home all day, then you get sick of, then it becomes a prison of its own. I went back my junior year to public school and never regretted it.
All jokes aside, I actually have to give a lot of credit to K12 for saving me from potential middle school bullying, and being stuck at a bad school in general. I was on K12 from about 6th to 8th grade. Actually was a really good program.
As someone with an individualized learning plan who had to go through online school: Don't do it. Online school will drink your soul and spit back out a husk.

@H H Really? I think online school is better because I can use brainly.com to answer math questions that I didn't understand. In school I can't use brainly. And also because I don't like learning 7 hours or more in school, it's just tiring. Not to mention that I have to wake up at 5.30 AM and go back to home at 16.00 PM because of some extracurricular, and sleep at 22.30 because of the homeworks. For some reason, my teachers only send homeworks to me at school hours since homeschooling and that's why I like homeschooling more.
Online learning is the worst idea ever. It's even easier to get distracted at home then at school, Wich had no fun and I could get crap done. Plus teachers think being home means we deserve more work...

One of my favorites is when these commercials try to scare parents by saying kids forget a certain percentage of what they learned during summer vacation. Like... Seriously? They make it out like three months is gonna make a kid magically forget the past three grades.

Simple, play MK for another minute or two before the battery dies then get hungry and microwave a hot pocket but only opening and closing the door with one hand on the door handle and the other against the microwave so I can press down on the door with my thumb, thus closely it quieter because it’s 12:17am and I’m supposed to be asleep because it’s a school night, I have a vocab test in the morning

And then u realize ...... the world is shit , ur basically in hell , earth is hell
But it doesn’t mean u shouldn’t give up , ur a man / woman . Ur going to fight ur way to the end of life , ur going to be strong , and ur going to find love . And by this time we should be loving each other , it doesn’t matter what color u are . It doesn’t matter if ur different, ur perfect just the way u are , everyone is perfect !!!

I did a semester of K-12. I flunked because with great Internet connection comes great procrastination, but at least I got some good out of it: my online adventures helped me find out that I’m bi and have some odd kinks. Good times.
The only reason I liked school was because it was an escape to my life outside of it, and now that my life has improved, I'm grateful for a normal life being a normal student at school.

No. Online school is horrible. I haven’t seen my friends in 81 days and I miss them so much. Im not trying to sound like a creep but miss their faces their laughs even their complaining. It’s not even my friends that I miss even the people I didn’t like, even the drama. Anything that made school what it was I miss. I miss hugging them :(( I can’t count the amount of times I’ve seen a funny video or meme and thought “I’ll show them tomorrow so we can laugh together” but then remember I can’t go to school tomorrow and see them :(( I know what you’re thinking: you can still call or ft them but it’s not the same you can’t hug someone on a FaceTime or call. :((
Also I don’t think I’ve ever been so frustrated with an app as I have with google classroom. My school has taken this as an opportunity to set us homework for even the irrelevant subjects. PE homework?!?!🤡🤡PSHE homework?!?🤡🤡 Don’t even get me started on the AMOUNT of work set either.
Lastly, every time I turn on the tv to the news channels all we can see is the number increasing, the cases the deaths. Hundreds of thousands of lives are lost but for what cause/ reason? Someone supposedly eating a bat or a government supposedly engineering a virus?!? 😔😔I hope this virus can be eliminated so we can all get our lives back , so no more innocent lives can be taken.

Not gonna lie I stopped watching CN and Nick years ago cause I grew out of it, but I watch a bit in the summer curious to see the commercials for camps and tutoring stuff because that's all I did during the summer when school was out.
I remember the one where the kid jumps out of the pool and tries to get the water out of his ear i stead a bunch of math equations fall out while the announcer says something about child forgetting what they learned over the summer.
Bruhhhhhhhhhh my mom actually got this for me in the 5th grade. Guess what? I fell behind. I used to do so good in school (grade wise) straight As and Bs but having a computer and having nobody around taught me how to procrastinate and cheat. I passed 5th grade with a D like Bart Simpson. This made the rest of my school years hell (especially 6th, 9th, and 11th). I was behind on math specifically and couldn’t grasp simple concepts until my junior year. I even stopped paying attention and cheated (and got caught a lot ) in other classes. I was supposed to have AP Government with my friends but they changed it to Algebra 1 since I’m a fucking idiot. Imagine trying to learn algebra for like the 4th time as a junior with a bunch of 9th graders. To make the long story short: Thanks to K-12 I’m about to fail my Junior year and I’m losing my mind. Failing by half a credit since I failed Honors Chemistry really badly. I’m trying my best to find ways to pass though.
k12? Holy shit, I actually used this. Granted, it was 2nd-5th grade so I don't remember that much, but lots of the teachers were great, YOU AS AN INDIVIDUAL COULD CHOOSE WHICH BOOK TO STUDY NEXT (from a list, but still) AND WHAT LESSONS TO DO NEXT, there were fun interactive things like this Geoboard thing, it was great. System was very easy to cheese though lol
I’ve only heard of homeschooling a few years ago because there really isn’t such thing here in Italy and if there is is not that popular. Also I’m glad I live in a country where there’s not kidzbop.

I tried k12 for three months in the seventh grade and it did not go well. It wasn't the teachers that was the problem. It was my grandmother using the same words "I QUIT I QUIT I QUIT". At that moment my parents got tired of her crap and sent me back to public school.
bruh everytime i would go on nickelodeon it would be harvey beaks, tmnt, sam & cat or some other og 2010's show and there would ALWAYS be kidsbop 24 to make me actually start singing along.
I used K12 for a while. I'd finish my day's work in like 3 hours and spend the rest of the day playing flash games, and it pissed my grandmother off so eventually we stopped. Due to that and the fact that I couldn't learn algebra easily from the book and that was my fault somehow.

When I was young I saw a bunch of K-12 commercials on tv and tried to sign up using my moms phone number. A few weeks later my mom told me that she got a call from K-12 and asked me if I did anything, I lied and said no. Years later I asked her if she remembers and she said she didn’t.
I would watch nick and change it when a ad like online learning or something like that shows up and and say oh, the next episode is bad. And my mom would just nod.
I always wondered who bought all those Kidzbop CD's for them to stay in business like that... the my aunt bought me one for my 13th birthday and I realized.

uh i go to K-12 and other than the class connects, it’s pretty fun. your class connects depend on whether or not you need help in a subject or not and they cancel em’ from time to time, and AND you can schedule vacation days.
for the record they put all the students in a discord like call and there is no way to make sure that the kid is paying attention. i am an a-b average student and in the short period of time that i was using k-12 my history average dropped to a c amd my math dropped to a c-

Personally, I wasn't ready for online learning. My chromebook malfunctioned days before online learning. I tried learning at my phone but it was frustrating. I wish I would go back to March and I would have made a difference today. ;-;
I had the most unfortunate curse of having a mom who had the shitty idea of homeschooling me it was terrible and now I'm years behind where I should be in school and have no real life friends and feel depressed and lonely and my mom will not let me go to public school
God I never learned what youth was until they shipped my ass to Korea and worked early mornings and late nights in the military. My 20th birthday is coming and I’m about to take things to the next level with my girlfriend. I remember summers and my childhood so foggy. But it’s all good memories. I didn’t worry about anything. I would rush home on Friday, turn on my Xbox and play fallout new Vegas for hours and hours all day. I never had Xbox live until I was about 16. I would watch YouTube video animations of sonic, look online at toys I would never have, and watch Minecraft and fallout YouTube videos all day. Saturday’s is wake up so early for no reason and watch cartoons and play with my toys. So many adventures, so many memories, and I can barely remember them. It makes me sad but I want my future children to have the same level of fun and wonder I had. Playing in the grass, riding bikes around the neighborhood, and split screen multiplayer on halo reach. I love watching your channel. It reminds me that even though I’m getting older, I’m still the same child at heart.

I was in K12 from 4th grade all the way until I graduated high school and tbh you kinda forget about the computer after a while. Also a good chunk of it wasn't online, but in books.

26 likes@heymayday Teachers in the classroom can see what the students are doing and respond to it accordingly, but unless they have TeamViewer or some shit they have no control over them playing Minecraft in the background in a computer class. Yes, if you're self-disciplined you can control that easily as you describe, but in general most kids would probably not be that way. Unless they're accustomed to it perhaps, like the guy above described.

3 likesHomeschooled kid who did most of their learning online, here. My schooling was mainly done alone on my own personal computer except for math, which was my most challenging subject, and english. Did I mess around and look at memes? Oh yeah. But, I had a list of what I needed to accomplish by the end of the week and, no matter how much I’d mess around during ‘school time,’ I always did get my work done. Compare that to my days in Public School were I’d sit stuck on a math problem for an hour straight, constantly distracted by other kids around me, practically panicking, and near-tears because I couldn’t multiply anything other than my 5s and 10s facts in 5th grade. And that was while I was on Adderall. If anything, being in control of how and when I did my work has helped me learn time management skills and personal responsibility more than Public ever could. Thing is, when you’re homeschooled, if you futz around too much you’re just dragging school out longer and aren’t actually getting anywhere. In Public schools they have to worry about, in my school’s case, ~30 students cramming info for a big test. It’s the perfect environment for ADD kids like me to fall through the cracks and just barely get by.

I say this based on my experiences trying to take care of online assignments for college. Granted, I always went to public school as a kid, so online learning doesn’t fall within my established habits for school, which makes it more difficult. But, even if I had switched earlier, I think I would have found the transition to be very difficult because I was already in the habit of doing things the public school way. Which isn’t to suggest that my public school experience was good; it wasn’t.

0 likespapapizzababa ! I like school and did like it too. Yes, I know, but bullying or not fitting in... I did plenty of not fitting in. My elementary school had the least comprehensive and capable gifted program, and here I am and able individual who is doesn’t fit in. Personally elementary school can sometimes be one of the worst part about schools, and if you don’t have friends really, well you aren’t gonna fit in at all. Middle school allowed more flexibility, but it frustrated for its repetition of menial things. High school actually allowed for a variety of classes, maybe not to the level I was quite hoping for, but it was much better than before and a far cry from what I had before. School also offered me for a few years to escape my mother who was gradually losing it upstairs, and so as annoying as school could be, it feels like a bit of a refuge. The problem with bullying in my school wasn’t really there like I have heard about in other places, at least, it never affected me much personally, which I’m glad about. My motivation for saying this though is that some of us do in fact like school, and for good reason. I always had an interest in learning and have an intense curiosity for the world around me, and school (high school namely) allowed for this. I have a feeling you might disagree still that there might be worth in it from the aforementioned, but hear me out in a sec. I am not going to say it is the case (I’m not you guys) but looking at this, a few of you seem to have rather negative feelings towards it and that seems mainly you had it beaten out of you one way or another, be it bullying, it being boring, it being tedious. It seems you had the curiosity, but these all caused you guys to lose it, and I am sorry if that’s the case. If you can, and keep in mind I’m not telling you to, try and and find some of that glimmer of meaning in it amidst all the pain, I can promise you there is some purpose hidden in there. In conclusion thank you for you time if you read this.

I have just finished my senior year now and gladly I am done, and hopeful that college will be different, but the quality of the education most people receive I would say is bad in the US. They assign a lot of busy work and just put soooo much unnecessary stress and pressure on us and the worst part is that it really does not help us learn at all. It’s only made me spiteful of school and has caused me to have some mental breakdowns and its all for nothing when you think about it. It might have just been me since I have a tendency to over complicate things and stress over little things, but school legit felt like hell. I am glad that at least someone was able to enjoy it. Thank you for sharing your story with us.

0 likesI was homeschooled with K12 from 1st to 5th grade, and while the material was good, and usually more advanced than what’s learned in public school, you did have to teach yourself. I don’t remember a lot of it, HOWEVER I do know that because of my mom’s decision to homeschool me, giving me little interaction with peers, I now have the social skills of a dog who’s never gone to a dog park. I have immense anxiety talking to people, and I have trouble studying/completing assignments in public school. I just graduated high school, but I had to adapt so fast to public school so I didn’t get torn apart by my peers.
4 likes@S M yeah I definitely think as a parent if your gonna have you child stay home for school, it's your responsibility to give them a social outlet atleast. My friend switched to online learning after getting bullied at school for highschool, but he atleast had a youth group he would attend where he made friends in the afternoon and he said it helped keep him sane from just staying home and talking to no one but his family. I think this is especially important in elementary since that's when our brain develops the most so social interaction is crucial.

Schools were founded on big corporations lobbying for a system that could create factory workers. Schools teach children how to work in a rigid, unchanging system. Due to this nature, it's attempts at adapting to modern culture fall flat and make it appear as a malicious passive aggressive force that determines our future cold heartedly.

0 likesDude I went to K12 and let me just say- my experience was horrible. I joined in 2nd grade, and from then on I was bullied heavily. (Tuesday, when we went to the campus and met our teachers and stuff) all the way to 6th grade. The actual schooling was kinda bad as well. It was a level above what you were supposed to learn, and it’s one of the hardest schools in California.

And also because I don't like learning 7 hours or more in school, it's just tiring. Not to mention that I have to wake up at 5.30 AM and go back to home at 16.00 PM because of some extracurricular, and sleep at 22.30 because of the homeworks. For some reason, my teachers only send homeworks to me at school hours since homeschooling and that's why I like homeschooling more.

1 likeNo. Online school is horrible. I haven’t seen my friends in 81 days and I miss them so much. Im not trying to sound like a creep but miss their faces their laughs even their complaining. It’s not even my friends that I miss even the people I didn’t like, even the drama. Anything that made school what it was I miss. I miss hugging them :(( I can’t count the amount of times I’ve seen a funny video or meme and thought “I’ll show them tomorrow so we can laugh together” but then remember I can’t go to school tomorrow and see them :(( I know what you’re thinking: you can still call or ft them but it’s not the same you can’t hug someone on a FaceTime or call. :((
Also I don’t think I’ve ever been so frustrated with an app as I have with google classroom. My school has taken this as an opportunity to set us homework for even the irrelevant subjects. PE homework?!?!🤡🤡PSHE homework?!?🤡🤡 Don’t even get me started on the AMOUNT of work set either.
Lastly, every time I turn on the tv to the news channels all we can see is the number increasing, the cases the deaths. Hundreds of thousands of lives are lost but for what cause/ reason? Someone supposedly eating a bat or a government supposedly engineering a virus?!? 😔😔I hope this virus can be eliminated so we can all get our lives back , so no more innocent lives can be taken.

I used to do so good in school (grade wise) straight As and Bs but having a computer and having nobody around taught me how to procrastinate and cheat. I passed 5th grade with a D like Bart Simpson. This made the rest of my school years hell (especially 6th, 9th, and 11th). I was behind on math specifically and couldn’t grasp simple concepts until my junior year. I even stopped paying attention and cheated (and got caught a lot ) in other classes. I was supposed to have AP Government with my friends but they changed it to Algebra 1 since I’m a fucking idiot. Imagine trying to learn algebra for like the 4th time as a junior with a bunch of 9th graders. To make the long story short: Thanks to K-12 I’m about to fail my Junior year and I’m losing my mind. Failing by half a credit since I failed Honors Chemistry really badly. I’m trying my best to find ways to pass though.

God I never learned what youth was until they shipped my ass to Korea and worked early mornings and late nights in the military. My 20th birthday is coming and I’m about to take things to the next level with my girlfriend. I remember summers and my childhood so foggy. But it’s all good memories. I didn’t worry about anything. I would rush home on Friday, turn on my Xbox and play fallout new Vegas for hours and hours all day. I never had Xbox live until I was about 16. I would watch YouTube video animations of sonic, look online at toys I would never have, and watch Minecraft and fallout YouTube videos all day. Saturday’s is wake up so early for no reason and watch cartoons and play with my toys. So many adventures, so many memories, and I can barely remember them. It makes me sad but I want my future children to have the same level of fun and wonder I had. Playing in the grass, riding bikes around the neighborhood, and split screen multiplayer on halo reach. I love watching your channel. It reminds me that even though I’m getting older, I’m still the same child at heart.
