I don't think you should have to apologize for saying what you think or stopping doing that just because some people don't like it. You definitely shouldn't have to be afraid to criticize what you think are flaws just because of the pressure of a few pissy "fans" who can't even handle you thinking differently from them. A genuine and honest, unsuppressed reaction is what makes these types of videos special IMO, not just having another person continuously reaffirm that the show we like is great. I definitely wouldn't say there were boring reactions (though I may have skipped some episodes I didn't really care about rewatching, so maybe it was all in there), it's still really entertaining, but sometimes I do get a feel that the "yeah yeah I liked it, moving on" is hiding something more that's not being said because of potential backlash or something. Maybe I'm thinking too hard about it. Just don't want Mr. PonyBro I Guess to feel trapped in how he allows himself to act.
He clearly was not being rude in any way. I think it's a ridiculous idea that someone should have to apologize for speaking their opinions on a piece of media they're reacting to, especially since clicking the video means that you opt into it. If you keep trying to make it so that literally no one is offended, the list of things you're not able to say just stacks up to the point where you're afraid to say anything, leading to some boring reactions. Best to just stand firm and not go down that route. I don't care how controversial any of his opinions are or how much I disagree with them or don't like them. It's like "Fluttershy Leans In." PonyBro shouldn't have to worry about others imposing how they feel he should react. He doesn't need to apologize since most, if not all of us, understand... I hope. Actually - and no offense to him meant - this goes for a lot of stuff that he does, from yawns to off-hand comments about pony "plots." We like you for you, PonyBro, whatever little idiosyncrasies are caught on camera. That probably came off as really sappy, but hey, it comes with the ponies.
Besides, it's not like he's threatening to "quit the fandom" for the 10th time or going on rage-filled tirades about "C*nty Purples." :)
It was a complete rehash of Rainbow's message to the pirates in Time To Be Awesome, even to the point where Starlight hit the EEA rule book into the water like how Rainbow Dash threw the Storm King's rule book off the ship during the song. They could have easily had Rainbow Dash be the one to give Twilight that pep talk, but instead they decided to dumb down her and the rest of the Mane Six (again) in order to give Starlight a role. It was without a doubt the worst part of the premiere.
I love that so many races have been invited to the school, but I'm gonna have to take points off for not allowing Bloomberg to send his star pupil. Dendrophobes.
Just throwing this out here: please, people, for Twilight's sake, don't post any spoilers in the comments. Not even wink wink nudge nudge spoilers. Between the leaked episodes and the inconsistent air dates, pretty much everyone who was up to date with the show got spoiled on at least a few important plot points waaay too early. This might be the first fully blind season 8 reaction (maybe not counting Applegeek, but he's pretty much the patron saint of spoiler avoidance).

This whole topic with the School of Friendship for all Beings makes me cry. Why are they, while differing in their biological species, able to reject enmity, while we, stupid bald monkeys, find an excuse to fight within our own species?
Every time I look at Neighsay, I can’t help but think of Dr. Strange. They both share some similarities in terms of their designs (smooth hair, wears a cloak) and magical abilities.
“School Daze” was like a breath of fresh air for me, I like this premiere. The tie-ins from the movie is great because there is a good expansion on Equestria and beyond it.
Of course, my favorite highlight of this two-parter are the six students that represent the each of the kingdoms, or the Young 6/Student 6 as we call them (I call them the Young 6, just an FYI). I like all of them, though my favorite one of the group is Silverstream, the hippogriff. I admire her bubbly, high spirited personality, it makes me smile a lot.😁
I like how this premiere’s premise focuses on creating a friendship school, especially when it involves all creatures to attend and not just ponies (despite a certain unicorn’s beliefs).
Anyway, this is great season premiere overall in my opinion. I’m looking forward to your reaction to certain S8 episodes as well.
I love the addition of the new characters. it adds to the show and keeps it from going stale. plus everything ties in very nicely at the end of the series.
0:47 - exactly. We all have the freedom to express our opinions, and we have the right to live free from fear of being bashed for them...yeah, that was a pretty sore spot for most people, seeing Twilight going off on Pinkie at the 2/3rds mark...but I'd have still loved to hear you rant on that.~
No need to apologize for what you thought of the movie. I've got the same criticisms about it as you do.
Never liked how Celestia, Luna, and Cadence were all just one-shotted at the very beginning, Cadence being the only one that made the most effort to fight back.
Also didn't like how Twilight told Pinkie off either. I can understand her desperation of getting the pearl, even if it means using her friends to distract the sea ponies to steal it. But her line, "Maybe I would have been better off without friends like you!" just felt very forced for the sake of drama. It was such an easily avoidable conflict. Twilight, at this point, after 7 whole seasons of learning friendship, should've been able to think her words through rationally, especially with the friends that have been with her since the very beginning of the show.
I think it could've worked better if Twilight recognized her mistake and admitted to them that she was wrong, at which point her friends wouldn't forgive her for it. Her friends would then walk ahead, clearly still angry with Twilight, at which point she would fall behind and have her crying scene.
David Siudzinski The buildup is there, it’s just subtle. It’s obvious that by the time that they’re trapped in the hold underneath Celaeno’s ship that the stress has caused Twilight to lose faith in her friends.
I dunno, I thought the whole scene itself went well, even if it meant having to shove everyone besides Twilight and Pinkie to the side for the movie (aside from Rarity reforming Capper and Rainbow Dash helping out Celaeno and her crew - and Applejack being kind of the team mom, I suppose) - I mean, she thinks they’ve just lost their last hope of saving Equestria, I can’t blame her for snapping like that with the stress she was under.
But I can see why people would have a problem with it.
I've always thought Chancellor Neighsay sounded like Brain (from Pinky and the Brain), but never actually checked. Turns out that yeah, same voice actor! Such an iconic voice.
Yep - Nicole Dubuc is friends with him, and convinced him to come on and play a role (similar with what Lauren Faust did with Tara Strong, now that I think of it...)
Neighsay really highlighted the flaws in pony society. He's a racist who is in charge of education. I don't think I need to go into all the things wrong with that. Plus, his racism shows that he sucks at history. These are the villains we had so far: Nightmare Moon, Discord, Chrysalis, Sombra, Trixie, Tirek, Starlight, The Pony of Shadows and Tempest and the Storm King (I count both since while the Storm King is the big bad, Tempest is the active one). Out of these 10 villains, 6 were ponys. Even if we take away Tempest and Starlight, since the first one was not the big bad and no one seems to know Starlight was a villain once, that still leavs us with Nightmare Moon, Sombra, Trixie and The Pony of Shadows. In other words, half of the villains where ponys. And if you take away Trixie as well, it's still 3/7. And let's not forget that without non-ponys, neither Chrysalis nor the Storm King (and Tirek, if you count that Discord had the last key) could have been defeated. In other words, he is absolutly unsuited for his job. And let's not forget as well the things he did in this episode: Insulting representitives of foreign nations, causing an international incident which nearly let to a war and being disrespectful towards the PRINCESSES. Anywhere else, he would have (and should have) been punished for that. But Equestria is just too focused on friendship and tolerance. This makes me wonder whether they have any laws to begin with?
Then again, Neighsay could justify the pony villains by saying that they were corrupted by non-Equestrian forces. Which is especially true if we account the comics.
Well, first of all, you should react the way you feel, if you don't like something its okay to state it. Even though season 8 is my least favorite its still a good season in my book, just not as good as the others. The premier had some great moments, like starlight throwing that book, and touched some mature aspects like racism. You are very close to finishing the show... time goes by so fast! Looking forward to your next reactions!
Yo dude. I had a Similar reaction, I had like a panic attack during that pinkie vs twilight part of the movie. Due to trauma and my big sister defender side came though.
I can see both twilight's and pinkie's side of that fight and i think i'm on twilight's side, but even if i "picked twilight side", it makes no sense to get mad at someone if they don't have the same opinion as you??? Both sides are pretty reasonable and i get why people who disagree with any of them.
5:49 or as I call him chancellor idiot or chancellor moron or my personal favorite Chancellor I'm going to do Equestria because of my racism and stupidity
15:05 Sandbar: "These ponies saved all of us from the Storm King." Gallus: "How, by boring him into surrender?" More like boring him to death. He ain't coming back from being broken into 500 pieces.
28:47 - I love how Twilight looks annoyed as shit, like "What the Hell, Starlight?!"...but not because Starlight slapped the book out of her aura grip...it's because she ruined a book!~ :p
I like a lot of the ideas in this season even though I think they were executed badly. One example instead of 6 new characters I wish 3 or 4 new characters had become friends with the CMC or (grown) Cake Twins.
Season 8 is actually pretty good, it's just that the episodes are clustered. There's runs of nothing but really bad episodes, and then runs of nothing but really good episodes (including what is, imo, the best episode of the entire series.) Also I really loved the finale, personally, but it is very divisive (the whole season is.)
You are definitely not the only one to be pissed at Chancellor Neighsay. Everyone was. He's one of the most infuriating and blatant racists in animation. It is kinda cool that he's voiced by Maurice LaMarche, however, his voice sounding almost exactly like his voice for the brain. As for the I students, I love them all, though some more than others. Ocellus is just adorable beyond belief, although I know I'm biased here, being a changeling fan and all. Silverstream's enthusiasm over every little thing is always hilarious, and she is definitely Skystar's cousin. Gallus's snarky attitude and sarcastic comments makes you want to have a supa hot fire gif at the ready when he's on screen, just in case. Yona is far cuter than a yak has any right to be, and she is what made me love yaks in general. Smolder's color scheme being identical to Scootaloo's was a bit distracting at first, but I like her. She's got the makings of a quality tomboy. We've already had characters with this surfer dude type way of speaking like Sandbar, but he still seems like a fun guy to be around. Really chill. Finally, Vincent Tong gets to voice a character I really like.
I don't see why so many fans hated this season. It's a big change, yes, and the school thing did come out of nowhere, but honestly, I got used to it quick, probably because I found the students to be very likable.
One thing I really didn't care for was how plainly racist Neighsay was. Not because he is racist, that's a pretty bold move for the show to make. It's how one note they made him. He's portrayed as "The racist guy with racist opinions", giving no real perception from him to show why he feels the way he feels, and showing why he's wrong. He's just a poorly written villain and I don't think it teaches the moral well.
@@Melody-burbonite4life Contrary to popular belief, racist people do indeed have reasons for their prejudice. They aren't good reasons, but they are reasons that they've convinced themselves are worthy of utilising for hate. A White guy who's never met a Black person, nor has ever heard anything good or bad about one, is not gonna be racist. Maybe scared simply at the new site, but that's it. They'd mostly be intrigued and might investigate, as humans naturally are. This is actually provable with footage of White people visiting African colonies where little contact has ever been made between them and their races of people.
What makes someone racist is what has been passed down to them and what has been done onto them. Most people with racist percpetions are victims themselves, either of poor upbringing that caused them to think negatively about other people, or have been done wrong by someone or a group of people of a certain race, and they therefore hold that grudge on anyone that looks like or reminds them of such people. Racism is a result of a deeper issue in people's mental state that fixates on association, trauma, and generalisations. It's the same reason many Black people hate White people, because they were either taught that White people have been oppressing them for years, or they've witnessed White people doing harm on Black people themselves. They then associate that pain and suffering to any and all White people.
he was never a villain just an A** most people who are racist don't actually have a reason. the real villain was cozy and neighsay realized he was wrong.
@@Sol-qt4wd That's fine! I am OK with them saying it every once in a while. Or at least switching unknowingly between "everypony" and "everycreature" would be more realistic.
@@squeebers I don't think that's possible, since it wouldn't make sense to call them ponies if they're not ponies. This is a way of embrace differences and being inclusive. Also, it's not specific, every creature covers every single character :D (also, i'm not trying to be rude, okay? sometimes people think i'm trying to start a fight or sm so I just want to make it clear!)
@@Sol-qt4wd idk, I just don't like that the characters are changing the way they speak just because of who they are around. That'd be like asking someone to stop calling everyone "bro" if that's the way they speak. It's odd. No other My Little Pony show before this one pushed this hard for the ponies to say "every dragon" or "every breezy" etc. It just rubs me the wrong way.
They're getting used to it? It's their first time interacting with all these different creatures. And what else do you want them to say? They are all different kind of creatures, just like they say "everypony" when talking about ponies, it's normal to say "every creature"
Ok I'm back to watch this seaso. I was way a bit now I got alot to catch up on...also I dont care what anybody says .........theses new characters are amazing
Listen. Leave my adorable and snarky son, Galand alone. He is best boi. What the hell is it with unicorns reading a whole book in two seconds. They flip through the pages and NO ONE ever comments on how quickly they read through it.
As someone who is into music theory, the first song is honestly one of the worst songs I've heard from the show. The key changes just don't flow well and the vocals were very annoying. It's probably just me being picky, but I just can't listen to the song without cringing.

More like boring him to death. He ain't coming back from being broken into 500 pieces.
25:49 Sad music.
0 likes28:47 - I love how Twilight looks annoyed as shit, like "What the Hell, Starlight?!"...but not because Starlight slapped the book out of her aura grip...it's because she ruined a book!~ :p

0 likesWhy is grandpa gruff even there if he don’t care and isn’t related?
0 likesAbout the opening, the only difference is the title of the show,in previous seasons the title's color was Pink but now its Purple-ish.

Aka the color scheme of twilight

This is a land of nudists. Clothes = lewd
3 likesah man, EFF THAT USCELLULAR ADVERT!
0 likesI like a lot of the ideas in this season even though I think they were executed badly. One example instead of 6 new characters I wish 3 or 4 new characters had become friends with the CMC or (grown) Cake Twins.
2 likesIn part 2 beginning it reminds me of the same way Rainbow dash depression
0 likes40:46 Also i love this part, twilight is great in this part.
1 likeSeason 8 is actually pretty good, it's just that the episodes are clustered. There's runs of nothing but really bad episodes, and then runs of nothing but really good episodes (including what is, imo, the best episode of the entire series.) Also I really loved the finale, personally, but it is very divisive (the whole season is.)

0 likesYou are definitely not the only one to be pissed at Chancellor Neighsay.

This is probably the weakest season aside from S1, but the ending quarter is really quite solid.
0 likes(2:44) Emily Blunt doesn't work cheap apparently to not reprise the role of Tempest.
2 likesI don't see why so many fans hated this season. It's a big change, yes, and the school thing did come out of nowhere, but honestly, I got used to it quick, probably because I found the students to be very likable.
2 likesOne thing I really didn't care for was how plainly racist Neighsay was.

0 likesWhat makes someone racist is what has been passed down to them and what has been done onto them.

@@squeebers Oh I see your point here and definitely agree!!
0 likes@@Sol-qt4wd That's fine! I am OK with them saying it every once in a while. Or at least switching unknowingly between "everypony" and "everycreature" would be more realistic.
1 like@@squeebers And it's okay to not like it, just wanted to have a nice discussion about it ♡
0 likes@@squeebers I don't think that's possible, since it wouldn't make sense to call them ponies if they're not ponies. This is a way of embrace differences and being inclusive. Also, it's not specific, every creature covers every single character :D (also, i'm not trying to be rude, okay? sometimes people think i'm trying to start a fight or sm so I just want to make it clear!)
0 likes@@Sol-qt4wd idk, I just don't like that the characters are changing the way they speak just because of who they are around. That'd be like asking someone to stop calling everyone "bro" if that's the way they speak. It's odd. No other My Little Pony show before this one pushed this hard for the ponies to say "every dragon" or "every breezy" etc. It just rubs me the wrong way.
1 likeThey're getting used to it? It's their first time interacting with all these different creatures. And what else do you want them to say? They are all different kind of creatures, just like they say "everypony" when talking about ponies, it's normal to say "every creature"

1 likeAs someone who is into music theory, the first song is honestly one of the worst songs I've heard from the show. The key changes just don't flow well and the vocals were very annoying. It's probably just me being picky, but I just can't listen to the song without cringing.
