What I find interesting is that, from what I recall, this is a revival of a meme. The "Peter hurts his knee" meme was one popular in "you laugh you lose" genre back in the late 2000's and early years of YouTube. While this meme died along with the original YLYL genre (before its revival as Vine and meme compilations), this meme's new life is following the same formats as before.

Personally, I enjoy this meme.

My son did this when he was two years old. My sister and I saw this and couldn't stop laughing. My son thought we were assholes and cried to his mom and she started cackling. Later in the years when he grew older, he saw this episode he realized why we were laughing...

Here's a bit of a theory I have:

Memes like Steamed Hams and Peter Hurts His Knee have the potential to be at the very least decent because you need some actual talent in editing videos.

The reason garbage like Ugandan Knuckles gets so widespread is because any dipshit can just get into VRchat, copy it and spam it into oblivion. Same with Savage Patrick, since anyone with a copy of MSPaint can cobble together some half-assed attempt at humor.

So, the more effort you need to put in to copy a meme, the less likely it is to become stale in half a week.

...Okay, less of a theory and more stating the bloody obvious.

I’d argue that family guy has and still dominates internet meme culture in a larger way than the Simpsons ever could.

Hey 🅱️emon, that was a really great video. Only thing I have as a critic is that the video did more of Family Guys history and rivalry with the Simpsons rather than about the meme itself.

Pepe for Minute Memes would be an interesting story, might be hard to do in a minute though, a seemingly timeless meme that has survived many a year, had many forms and variations, normies finally got their grip on it, Pepe then Purposefully being warped into a hate symbol so it could escape and become exclusive once more.

Pretty much a B+ is a perfect score for this. Plenty of room for really funny creative edits. Lots of potential garbage too

Only people who are really into the series will get the joke, and even if you are, it still won't be too funny. It's a cheap way to get laughs and views from a very specific set of people.

It's not the worst meme I've ever seen, but it just doesn't have the same kind of tangibility as something like Steamed Hams. It's in the same genre as Steamed Hams which is why I'm going with that comparison. An unrelatable scenario with an assortment of different scenes and elements that are fairly open to interpretation and consequentially transformation. Steamed Hams has the upper hand because it's a contained scenario. All of the relevant context is already provided. Peter Falls and Hurts His Knee is much more vague, it's just Peter rushing home with an envelope and tripping in front of his house. There's certainly room for transformation, but I think the lack of context will hurt its longevity. This could possibly be rectified if the meme gets extended to also include all of the context so that it's also self-contained. Otherwise, I see this quickly going the way of the shitty, unfunny WANO edits that marked the end of its natural life in late 2016 early 2017.

Alright, I can understand someone not knowing the context behind The Simpsons and how it was a pastiche of traditional sitcom family values, but calling Family Guy a more edgy alternative? What are you smoking? Family Guy's humor doesn't come from its edginess, and it only superficially addresses any hot-button topics. Family Guy isn't an edgy show in the same sense that south park is, because its humor just comes from random shit happening.

No offence man, but minute meme isn't really all that great, and it feels bad to think "oh great another one of these" when I see it in my subscriber box. One of the biggest peeves I have with it is that you heavily implied that this was to be a market substitute for anthony fantano's meme review series. Personally I think that this is something we are in dire need of. Reviewing memes is something that you can do a lot with, and it's honestly surprising few people have done it.

The reason minute memes cannot be a market substitute for ant fan's meme reviews is down to the editing style and presentation being drastically different. Nor are they as long or in depth as to why a meme is funny or not. (not every meme review would do this of course but it was also made to be entertaining and entirely not reviewing a meme and complaining about it instead can be considered a subversion for a "review"). So instead minute meme is independent of already established formulas for reviewing memes.

So then, as it's own series, easily digestible, with the 60 second long period to actually discuss a chosen meme. It's boring and relatively vanilla? How is that?
I'd go as far as to say that it is down to the presentation and the narration. As far as the presentation goes, the choice to stylize everything as if it were on the windows XP operating system is unique to your series. While also tapping into the familiarity most people would have with the operating system due to it's popularity. I also like how you show various pictures inside of a small window, overlapping each other. Fitting the theme and quickly showing examples of memes while you talk. It is arguably better than showing a slideshow of pictures taking up the entire screen as you talk since it fits the theme of using Windows XP and so that multiple pictures can still be viewed. Ultimately, in spite of being a clever and unique idea, it looks bland. You didn't create anything on your own, you're not in a room where you can hide in-jokes, or interact with an environment. Even worse you don't use what you have at your disposal to hide in jokes with the operating system and the experience people have had using it.

It would be clever to hide different familiar icons in the background that correlate to specific programs, such as a dolphin, a mine, internet explorers old icon, purple gorilla, etc.
So as far as taking advantage of the very versatile environment you have constructed for yourself, it's a wash.
So what about your speech and mannerisms. In any other video you have made talking about specific things (especially the meme theory videos which are far better than these)
you would go through a very stiff range of emotion. Typically calm to angry to calm and angry again. However what was being shown on the screen generally reflected that mood. In minute memes case, you sound just as boring as what is on the screen. Which isn't a good thing.

Finally I'll explain the biggest problem with minute meme. It's only a minute long. I understand you are against the idea of making 10 minute videos to satisfy the algorithm (as am I) and keeping it short does give you limitations to work with that could lead to some creative endeavors in a similar way vine did with 6 second videos. You might not intend to hit success in the same way vine did, maybe you could care less, but you should care about making something good. I don't fully get youtube poops, but I get that a lot of effort, thought, and creative thinking goes into a typical youtube poop. In your case especially as can be expertly demonstrated with some of your more recent videos. This does not exude the same kind creative thinking and effort. This series feels like a breeze. It might feel nice or uncomfortable depending on who you ask, but it's over before you know it and forgotten just as quickly.

At the very least with the meme reviews you aim to compete with, they have more than a bland flavor to them. Knowyourmeme will forever be remembered as a shitstain on the meme community and the internet in general. Anthony Fantano's series was the punk rock of the memescape. Yours has nothing to be remembered by, and for somebody who has a lot to say on memes and internet culture, it's a shame to restrict your speech in such a way that hardly reflects the style of your other videos. The style you're known for creating and the style you are seemingly comfortable with.

You might not be doing anything wrong, but you are making sadly sub par videos.
