If you think about it, the ponies' superpowers were appropriate to each of their personalities and/or professions.
Rainbow Dash is a weather pony, and was given control over the forces of nature.
Pinkie Pie already breaks physics, so giving her super speed is actually a narrowing of her powers, if anything.
Twilight Sparkle is the element of magic, so she was given powers that come from her horn.
Rarity is a creative type, so she was given the power to create anything from her imagination.
Applejack is a country pony and the element of honesty, so giving her Wonder Woman's "Lasso of Truth" made perfect sense.
And Fluttershy has issues with suppressed rage, which usually only comes out as passive-aggressive behavior, except on those rare occasions when she's pushed too far...
@@Narrator007 Yes you’re right, btw I absolutely adore the fact that you realized that applejack’s rope was the same as wonder woman’s . Not a lot of people notice this awesome reference
@@Yesmypfpismeirl I really like your idea. However, I didn't think it was ever confirmed that the red beam Twilight was shooting as the "Masked Matterhorn" was fire-based. Not sure what else it could have been though, so I can see why you would make that assumption.
I like all of the reasons their powers were given, but I must disagree with twilight’s reason. In season 4 ep 6, twilight just became an Alicorn. Like it hasn’t even been 2 weeks since her coronation. And through out the show we learned that alicorns need balance and Control of their magic, and the right mindset. So i think twilight was given Fire and ice powers so she can control them correctly and make balance between them (since ice melts when it touches fire) . So i guess Twilight got these powers as a type of training to her new magic that is a similar power to her power pony ones. I guess it would make sense since (warning, spoilers from season 4 finale up coming) Twilight received a lot of magic at the end . And it took her a little to control it, but she was able to put balance between four completely different types of magic!
Each of the Power Ponies is based on a hero/heroine from Marvel Comics or DC Comics:
1. Hum Drum's (Spike) costume has a color scheme similar to that of Robin's.
2. Saddle Rager's (Fluttershy) anger transformation ability is similar to that of The Incredible Hulk.
3. Fili-Second's (Pinkie Pie) superpowers and costume are similar to that of the Flash.
4. Mistress Mare-velous (Applejack) wields a lasso similar to that of Wonder Woman and gadgets similar to those of Batman.
5. Zapp's (Rainbow Dash) powers are based on those of Thor and Storm.
6. Radiance (Rarity) has creation powers similar to those of Green Lantern, although the color of her constructs is the same as that of the Star Sapphires, another group from the Green Lantern stories.
7. Masked Matter-Horn (Twilight Sparkle) has powers loosely based on those of Cyclops from X-Men
Masked Matter-Horn: Cyclops Fillisecond: Flash Zapp: Storm Radiance: Any Lantern Corps Mistress Mare-velous: Wonder Woman and Batman combined Saddle Rager: Hulk Hum Drum: Robin before he was cool
Another parallel hero for Masked Matter-horn is Space Ghost, who could fly and fire a wide variety of attacks - including ice, heat, and kinetic energy - from his wristbands.
I'd say the Masked Matter-Horn is either Superman or at least Ice-Man. Even though we only see her use Ice Spike states she can shoot all kinds of different beams. I really can't think of too many other hero's with a mix of different abilities. And remember Superman has cold breath which has the same effect even though it isn't a beam. And Zapp is probably more Thor-ish as she needs to use the Lightning Bolt to control her powers similar to Thor and his hammer (not including any awaking's)
I just want to say for Friendship is Witchcraft, that all the "foreshadowing" that Twilight will become a princess was completely coincidental, because most of those episodes were uploaded before Twilight became a princess.
I feel like this episode of My Little Pony is circled and focused on Spike FINALLY gets AND has a chance to be a hero to save his friends or what he said his FAMILY y'all 👍 Yeet 💪 I love it just as you all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Notice how every character corresponds to an existing superhero for example Applejack is wonder woman, pinkie is the flash rainbowdash is storm Fluttershy is the hulk even Spike is the useless Robin., the maneiac seems to be a combination of Lex Luther and Mr. Freeze. the plot itself seems to have influenced the 2016 Jumanji movie being that the plots are almost the same except for the comic book is a video game system in the movie.
Once you get through season 4, you should react to "My Kingdom for a Horse" by marshmallowok. It's a compilation of jokes and PMVs that's a bit similar to Ponies the Anthology, but it serves as a tribute to season 4 specifically.
This seems like a pretty left field kind of episode A modern superhero setting doesn't really fit with the world of Equestria, but it seems pretty cool now that it's actually a thing. I honestly wouldn't mind if they had made a power ponies mini spinoff series. And yes, I'm sure we can all agree that Fluttershy becoming the hulk was awesome.
01:28 Judging by her design and constant mad laugh, I'd say Joker from "Batman" ;) 04:14 Seeing some parallels here, Spike? ;) 06:38 Yeah, and Rainbow Dash is jealous ;) 12:12 Pinkamena ;) 12:25 LEEEROOOOOOY JEEEEEENKIIIIIIIIINS!!!!! :) 14:55 Never underestimate the little ones ;J That's how all villains fail :q
This has to be one of the most interesting and fun episodes of the season. I didn’t expect to see our favorite pony characters taking on the role of superheroes that resemble the one’s that we are familiar with (Pinkie as the Flash, AJ as Wonder Woman/Batman, and Fluttershy as Hulk), but it was very cool while it lasted. I also like the Mane-iac as well, she is as enjoyable villain.
I've always found this episode boring as all heck, but I'm reserving my Season 4 Skip (I grant myself one per season, haven't used any so far but they don't carry over) for later on.

The Maniac; Joker+Poison Ivy+Scarecrow
From DC, The Maniac is The Joker; from Marvel, The Maniac is Doc Oc. Applejack could be somewhat based on Captain Marvel, but with Wonder Woman's lasso instead of Marvel's near invulnerability. As for Fluttershy's DC counterpart, I'm most familiar with Teen Titans and Justice League, and I don't know anyone from either comic series with that specific body-altering ability.
I wanna see Superfriendship is Magic! My old fan-roster was similar to that of Power Ponies, only with bad names: Pinkie was The Flank, Rarity was Green Envy (Her dislike of green hair? Just a cover for her secret identity), and AJ was simply WonderJack. After that, I had Superdash, Batmare and Dragin, and The Savage Flutterhawk. Minor "comic relief" characters Blue Beetle and Booster Gold would be Snips and Snails as Dung Beetle and Rooster Gold. I guess these days you could slap a blonde beard on Bulk Biceps and call him Seahorse.
