Since you are switching the Windows folder it will just switch Windows 7 to Windows 11 and Windows 11 to 7. There may be some compatibility issues with apps tho

This reminds me of a time when I ran something from Windows 3.1x on NT 4.0 (maybe the 16-bit regedit?) Anyway it also resulted in some duplicate entries anytime you right-clicked any file. Ever since then I’ve been awfully careful in what I run in dual boot configurations.
This video is actually helpful because Windows Setup keeps posing a lot of errors on my attempts of installing windows. I actually followed the steps including tampering the registry, I didn't knew that was not required and it just caused my system to crash, forcing me to reinstall windows once again.
Even if Windows XP DID manage to boot, you wouldn't get far. Since the system detected a license violation you would probably get the SYSTEM_LICENSE_VIOLATION bsod and would be locked out of windows. I've only managed to get it once, and it was during setup.
Was the best idea if you also swapped the explorer. It could work since explorer mostly uses registries to work, and it has them which means it probably would work, not so great, but fine.

@@nonameman1231 the registry that you are talking about is almost nothing like the modern one. The 3.1 registry is basically a fancy ini and was designed to be treated as such. 9x on is a hierarchical database and set up completely different

0 likes@@nonameman1231 the registry that you are talking about is almost nothing like the modern one. The 3.1 registry is basically a fancy ini and was designed to be treated as such. 9x on is a hierarchical database and set up completely different
