The latter is what upset me more. In Fall Weather Friends, they were arguing, but they didn't endanger the lives of children. Well, except for Spike, a little bit.
I'm probably one of the few people not bothered by this episode, mainly because this was one of the first episodes to focus mainly on the students, and actually, I found Rainbow and Applejack's arguing to be kinda funny to watch. By the end, it got to such a ridiculous degree, especially with the whole 'They taught us what not to do' thing, that I was left in hysterics. Honestly, I was genuinely surprised by how hated the episode was.
Also, I don't remember any part of the show where Applejack and Rainbow ever got over their competitive streak...so I don't get why everyone were so shocked they were still at it. It's been a huge part of their dynamic for the entire series up until this point, and it's not going away anytime soon.
@@Schornforce While I understand where you're coming from for the most part, with the case with Yona, they probably were just about to swim down and help her but Ocelus and Silverstream beat them to it. If you watch that scene again, you know that there was no point where they deliberately didn't help her or bicker instead of helping her when they knew she was in trouble.
That's like saying that no one but Rainbow Dash and the Wonderbolts cared about Rarity's life back in Sonic Rainboom when she was falling to her death just because they didn't all swoop down to save her at the earliest opportunity.
Thank you! I never hated this episode, I recognized it as being meant to be funny, and, as you said, it has NEVER been implied that those two have stopped being competitive.
I'm okay with them being competitive, but they put students at risk of injury or worse and still kept it up. They didn't even help Yona. That's the part I thought was too far alongside no real reprimanding from Twilight at the end (aside from clearly not being in the running for teacher of the month). The bickering wouldn't have bothered me without those issues, but with them, IMO, it added to the unlikability of the episode.
Every time Ashleigh talks or argues with herself, it always makes me laugh. Also, Twilight is like me when my friends are being irresponsible or childish.
This episode isnāt completely terrible, I just donāt care for AJ and RD going back and forth against each other here. In my opinion, āFall Weather Friendsā is the best episode that shows their competitive rivalry with each other. The only thing that kept this episode afloat (yet slightly submerged) for me was the Young 6.
@@winter2716 This explains why Hasbro decided to make a whole short out of this. They must have realized Fluttershy was the one who deserved to have the spotlight here. :)
This episode teached us an important piece of information... it was 9 months since the premiere going by the pictures.
This episode is of the most hated episodes in the show, and while I don't think its as bad as many claim, its still a pretty bad episode, while I love their rivalry it was out of proportion here I feel.
How well the students did in this episode saved this episode from being in the "bad" category for me, and it's in my "meh" category as well. They were even more mature and took more initiative than their teachers. I feel like they were trying to exaggerate RD's and AJ's flaws so that the students look better by comparison, but they don't need to do that. Both can be likable at the same time.
I personally like these students in basically all of their appearances. I actually wish they got more, like some episodes dedicated to each one of them individually. I'm sad that the series ended before we got to see that, and I highly doubt we'll see them in G5 as more than cameos, if at all.
So this is my first time actually WATCHING season 8 (after season 5 I started just watching the premieres and finales, so I'm trying to actually watch the episodes between) and honestly, I'm kind of disappointed that only the Young 6 are shown in classes. Like, even the CMC have an entire class full of background ponies. Why are all these class based episodes just about 6 characters in the entire school? I kinda hate it (I know Cozy Glow shows up at some point but that barely counts bc she's ALSO important to the story)
What does Dash have against "honest sweat" being a factor in teamwork? She's literally an athlete who regularly trains with her teammates. š¤Ø She really was weirdly douchey in this episode.
I don't really hate episodes of this show, but I can definitely see why this one isn't really... great. It's somewhat forgettable and while it may be teaching an okay lesson, it could stand to be set-up differently; same with a lot of the lower-tier episodes. The main issue is obviously the dynamic between AJ and RD; it's not out of character for them to be rivals, but it is weird that that is their sole concern throughout most of this episode. But the weirdest thing, I think, is how normal the Student Six are compared to them. They're likable, and that's good, but then you have to wonder if the writer(s) were aware of how off AJ and RD were. For instance, when the group reaches the fork in the road about 14 minutes in, the students know that the rivalry is going to ramp up again, but it's treated as a joke and the plot carries on. I don't know, maybe I need to be a Megamind to get the most enjoyment out of this episode. Basically, it is a meh episode, especially compared to most of what MLP has shown and still will show.
Oh, this episode reminded me. Will PonyBro be reacting to the six MLP Youtube shorts, preferably before the start of Season 9 or during it? Or will he skip those?
I wonder... Since it's been established that Changelings can become inanimate objects, and they can also turn into things much larger than themselves, could Ocellus have just turned herself into a bridge? š¤
Now hereās an episode that truly deserves its spot as the lowest-rated episode (by far) of the entire series on IMDb. The fact that they even allowed Kim Beyer-Johnson to write another episode (Sweet and Smoky in S9, another terrible episode) after this farce is a travesty.
I like their rivalry, but this episode was bad, they took it way too far. This is one of the most hated episodes, but the next "episode everyone hates" is better, imo.
Gonna be brutally honest, the fact that Appledash didn't stop their bs even after Yona almost drowned because of them shows how criminally stupid the whole thing was. Probably the worst episode of the series so I'm glad we went past it :/
This was an episode that was mostly (and deservedly) disliked due to RD and AJ's constant bickering and most importantly, putting the students in danger (something that's an insta-fire and possible lawsuit in the real world with teachers), yet they don't really get much comeuppance. This and Cart Before the Ponies are probably my least liked episodes of the series (unless I'm forgetting some-- which may be rather likely). As others have said, this one was saved by the students. This and some others, I think is why this season is a least favorite of many (including me)-- but there are some definite great and outstanding episodes mixed among the 'bad' and 'meh' ones.
While IMDB isn't necessarily the best place to judge fan reaction, this is nevertheless the lowest rated episode of the show on that site, being a half-point lower to the next lowest rated episode, sitting at a 4.8/10.
This one...yea, don't like it. It was the last one of a major leak of Season 8 episodes a few weeks before airing, and even without all of the finishing touches we could tell it was a trash one.
Yeah this is one of the hated episodes this season and for good reason and the other hated one is in the second half and I think that one is worse imo.
