Goody. I'm in the process developing my glitching skills and I learned something important here: not to alter the beginning because that contains the header information that the video codec will need. PS. I love the randomness of it. It's just beatiful
the video just cuts out at one point and doesn't work. it plays only part of the video. sometimes it just becomes corrupt. I don't edit the beginning or the end of the audio but it still corrupts. I've found out if i just import the video and export it without making any changes, it actually gives a good glitch effect. but to make bigger results i have to do it over and over again. Please help.
So, it worked, but whats weird is that i get different results on different media players. but atleast it worked. Sometimes it freezes, also, I did this with a Tamagotchi episode.
When I open it with Media Player, it says “We cant open (file). This may be because the file type is unsupported, the file extension is incorrect or the file is corrupt.”
@Alfonzopancakes say i have a question, is there a ratio for different lengths, because i entered a 6:50 video, it was extended to 36:20, i tried to aviod most of the early minutes but the footage freezes at one point and crashes the videoplayer, nothing seems to work, lemme know what i can do.
Tetrareux Yeah, that's a good point. The codec changes the effects too and certain codecs don't work with databending. I don't know which ones are which though.
I could only get this to work if I didn't modify the file at all. Actually all I did was repeatedly save it again and again till it became a fucking mess.
@Steve Desamos thankyou! but I actually didn't. I trued messing just with the middle and usually it just stops the video playing for a while and no cool glitches
iamoutofideas1 Thanks for that man, it's a fun effect. I was just doing this because OMGTSN wanted to know how to do this and I figured this would be the easiest way for me to explain it. The tutorials I looked up weren't very clear. I'm not saying I was the first person to databend or anything.
Hey, at least we can have fun with glitchy images and make creepypastas out of glitchy videos and use glitchy videos for faked damaged cameras in live action videos.

0 likesthis is awesome! it's the first time this has actually worked! is there a way i can do it to mp4 files though?

this method won't work with mp4 but you can just use an online file converter or something to make them avi
0 likes@Cat! i fucking messed up
0 likes@4096th Number what do you mean?
0 likes@Cat! i did not convert it to avi

With a longer video like that my main suggestion is try doing it in smaller chunks like a minute of video at a time. It's a pain but it might work.
1 like@Fonzop I'll give it a go
0 likesnice tutorial, but the codec of the imported video isn't important too?

2 likesWhich codec was this one?
1 likeSo if I try to databend a MP4 video, I may not get the same results?
1 like@RESTARTING You wont. In VLC the video stays at the same frame and at the end of the frame there is a small glitch.
1 likethe video stops playing the moment the video starts to corrupt
0 likescant export in avi ?
2 likesi don't have an options box

same problem, did you solve it? :/
0 likesI use an flv converter, and its usually mov or mp4, then it will go into imovie or adobe premiere.
0 likesdon't mess with the very first part of the video/audio once it's in audacity.
0 likes@Steve Desamos thankyou! but I actually didn't. I trued messing just with the middle and usually it just stops the video playing for a while and no cool glitches
