One thing some people complained about this episode was why Rarity didn't ask Coco Pommel to watch the store instead. But if you recall in Honest Apple it was mentioned that Coco had already debuted, so she couldn't run the store for Rarity as more than likely she was also a competitor at the Canterlot Fashion Show.
Part of me thinks that Fluttershy hated what she was doing so much that it started to come through in how she treated everypony around her. As someone who has struggled with being myself quite a bit, I can relate to how awful it makes you feel to put on a mask and pretend.
Well, this episode proves that if fluttershy tries to act like a different person she will go overboard and get to much into it(like in putting your hoof down)
Didn't even know I wanted to hear Flutterhsy say "lit" and "woke" like a hipster valley girl. She probably spends a lot of time around Tree Hugger to nail it that well.
And just like that, the fanart poured through the floodgates. I'm starting to think that that was the intention of the producers for making an episode like this. I certainly have no complaints. All those Fluttershy personas are perfect for fanart. I'm pretty partial to Hipstershy, but Gothshy is rather compelling, too.
Headcanon: Bloomberg was going to play a much bigger role in the show, but the tree of harmony hindered it, because the tree had a bad relationship with Bloomberg, hence why he was forced to move to Appleloosa (and was never heard from again).
Now that i think of it this episode was a lot like inspiration manifestation with fluttershy as rarity, the raccoons as spike and the multiple personas of fluttershy as the book.
I think the original draft for the episode had the raccoons be replaced by Discord. I think they said they couldn't get John on set to record his lines so they switched him
You know Fluttershy is way out of character when she calls raccoons "rodents." She would obviously know that raccoons are procyonids and not rodents! :P
This is a good episode overall, but it is still weird that they completely ignored the established point from way back in season one that Fluttershy has a "freaky knowledge of sewing" and was also briefly a world-famous fashion model.
Sadly you'll not see much of Coco Pomell anymore - she was based on a real person (also Coco Something) that wasn't very happy with them using her likeness. This already happened in an earlier season where they just called her Miss Pomell
Coco Chanel. Legendary fashion designer and fashion entrepreneur. Truly one of the most inspiring female designers that ever existed as she's the the one who revolutionized clothing for women. You can thank her for not seeing women being stuck in only stuffy corsets and dresses;) though I'm honestly a bit confused in what way it offends people
Hey PonyBro, remember in the comment section of your "Putting Your Hoof Down" reaction I said that I have reason to believe that it isn't entirely Iron Will's fault, but part of my evidence I couldn't bring up at the time until you get to a later episode? Will this is the episode I was talking about. What both of these episodes seem to suggest is that asking Fluttershy to change her personality makes her mean. Think about it. Both episodes, she was asked to change her personality, and both episodes she ended up being rude to everyone as a result. I think that asking Fluttershy to change her personality, and not Iron Will himself or any of his advice is what caused Fluttershy to be mean. Also, just going off this episode you can not tell me that Fluttershy doesn't have some sort of identity disorder, or that she was kidding the whole time. If she was really kidding when she called the raccoons rodents, she would have pulled them aside to explain to them. Same with her friends. Instead she only apologized after all three of her personalities got fired.
Or maybe they're more unstable simply because they live in a much more dangerous place than we do, and have lived through extremely dangerous times and traumatic events.
Honestly, I think all Ponies have innate personality disorders by Human standards. Sure, on average they're nicer and more harmonious than Humans, but I think underneath they're far more unstable. If something happens to shake their personality enough it can result in a major personality shift and downwards spiral. Of course, it's also a lot easier to get them out of that than it would be in a Human. I mean, just think about how many times something like that has happened with so many of the characters in the show. In a way, I really like it. As Human as they can be at times, they're still not Human either in body or mind. Their minds simply don't work like your average Human's does, but that still doesn't change how relatable and likeable they are. Something that is clearly inhuman, not just a Human in a different body, yet still clearly as person and equal.
@Narrator007 Thankyou, but don't give me credit for thinking of this, give credit to DYWTBA_Universe for pointing this out, because he is were I got this from.
I like this Fluttershy episode. It may not be a stand out like her previous entries, but it’s still good in my opinion. There’s not much I can say except that Fluttershy’s pony-sona’s were interesting, in a good way that is to say.
"You asked Rainbow Dash before Fluttershy?"
23 likesWell, she does always dress in style.
Who could even think Fluttershy was so damn good acting/playing different personalities..she got a 10/10
