I remember someone comparing this episode to the movie Multiplicity. Where a guy makes 3 clones of himself to lighten his workload. And in the one scenario the clones are "killed" the other they move away to run a pizzeria, and MLP had the darker of the 2 endings.

Until, they renewed them for another full season after seeing the finale to this season. They wanted more of that. And the response from the fandom, while mixed, was definitely a positive one. This episode was from 2012, and this was 11 years before “Steamboat Silly” came along, and it was from “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” and it was the final episode of the series where Mickey and the gang were watching “Steamboat Willie” until Steamboat Mickey pops out, and then you got too many of them where the gang has to stop them “Steamboat Silly” took the idea from “Too Many Pinkie Pies” and turned into a funny episode. As you know, “Too Many Pinkie Pies” was the inspiration for “Steamboat Silly”.
